How did these idiots not notice it for decades?

I mean, how often do you look at the wall behind a man's masturbation poster?

because the movie becomes dumb and contrived after tommy shows up
>>
>>220092962
In the novella he actually has to stop digging for like a year because he's given a cellmate and the only thing anyone noticed was the cellmate saying the cell was unusually cold.
>>
Sure was lucky he got the cell at the end. Literally any other cell and he would never be able to escape.
>>
>>220092962
He should used carpet instead paper that can be blown away

TAXES
>>

Didn't his buddies notice the big fucking hole when they switched posters?

how did he get past the rebar?
>>
>>220092962
better treatment because he became he basically became the lawyer for the whole prison staff and the warden's personal assistant. still weird that there apperantly wasn't one single sweep for his cell every again, even after he provoked the warden and got thrown into isolation for a while, but whatever it's a movie
>>
>>220093031
/qa/ lost
>>
>>220092962
How did he tape the poster back up when he escaped?
>>
>>220093671
Nu uh, he would just do a multiple prisoner escape, he'd need more posters though
>>
>>220094703
the warden embezzled the prison's rebar funds
>>
>>220094860
keep the top part taped, tape a small stone to the bottom so it stays in place
>>
>>220094703
It wasn't a literal hole, it was a metaphor for a series of legal loopholes he researched and exploited over the years.
>>
>>220094703
pressure and time, didn't you watch the movie?
>>
>>220094896
it was a metaphor for his asshole after getting raped a gazillion times by a group of pedophiles no one in the whole prison could stand up to
>>
the warden killing himself like that was such a crappy ending.
>>
>>220094463
Watch the movie.
>>
>>220094869
that would be a good spoof, he digs the whole and just breaks through to another cell, and at the end like 10 guys escape and every hole is covered with two posters
>>
>>220094926
Why?
>>
>>220095103
because in reality, the bad guys dont kill themselves.
they double down on their fraud and lies and get elected president
>>
In the books he uses his influence to get a plan of the prison and then to get a cell where digging would be the easiest. He didn't start right away. It's still stupid because when they threw him in solitary they 100% would go through his stuff.
>>
>>220092962
The methane gasses from the sewer pipe would've killed Andy 100%.
>>
>>220093609
why would it be cold if the hole wasn’t fully dug through?
>>
>>220094703
the construction wasn't reinforced concrete, probably block and plaster
>>
>>220092962
plot armor hid it
the pervading power across all King works
>>
>>220095268
Biden wasn’t really “elected” in any legitimate sense and he was forced to resign instead of running for election so your argument doesn’t work
>>
>>220095312
It took him some time to carve a hole in the pipe. Maybe it aired out?
>>
>>220094703
It wasnt rebar construction. It was old school 1930s concrete.

>>220094889
Plus you could probably add some small amounts of tape from the otherside once you leave. Just for extra insurance to make the poster stays.
>>
Cause Shawshank is a big rip off of Escape From Alcatraz

>Do you trust your wife?
Hmmm how about fucking "Mr. Hadley, sir. I know how to help you keep all that money."

Basically the peak example of what's wrong with this movie. Ton of contrived forced moments. Almost shonen anime tier so that retards can watch the cool "intellectual" clips on YouTube.
>>
>>220094953
You watch the movie asshole
>>
>>220095529
Most of the dialogue is taken word for word from the novella and Stephen King is a bit of a retard.
>>
>>220095312
It was the 60's, people ate better back then.
>>
>>220095529
It's basically the "you think of a cool riposte in the shower after getting bullied at school" writing.
>>
>>220095529
Andy was autistic
>>
>>220093003
Folks... He's got us there
>>
>>220092962
How did he get the poster to sit flush against the wall to the point that a rock went through it
>>
My favorite contrived moment is how he slams the newspaper with the news that murder happened at Shawshank and then police sirens blast right on fucking cue lmao. They totally would publish that before letting the police know so that he has a chance to escape. Smart writing.

King was always retarded.
>>
>>220092962
He was a model prisoner. He was doing the taxes for all the prison guards and shit.

>>220095746
a movie isn't an accurate representation of real life, you can convey alot more than just filming hyper realistic scenes with hyper realistic dialogue
>>
>>220095746
The police were probably getting a piece of the warden's pie as well and would bury the story if the paper didn’t force their hand by making it public. That’s exactly why the ledger was sent to the paper rather than the police in the first place.
>>
>>220095317
The nights filled the hole with cold air and it expends out during the day.
>>
>>220092962
Because Andy was the wardens money pet. It's why he got away with half the shit he pulled in the second half of the movie.

>>220095746
He submitted the proof to the bank and had it mailed out the same morning he escaped. The newspaper would've ran that 100% without consulting law enforcement.
>>
>Yeah I killed him and I'm sorry for it, but I don't give a damn what you think boy, so just go ahead and stamp your form and I'll be on my way.

The better interpretation is that they saw he was broken and didn't have much time left so they just let him go.
>>

i mean..
>>
>>220095529
Yes, this is annoying. It might be less annoying if people accepted the film is just (possibly entertaining) crap. But lots of people seem to think it's actually good or something.

why even the digging. with all that dirt and all the money he made the warden he could just walked out the front door. happens today all the time
>>
>>220094833
Special treatment is literally that. Norton even specifically says he gets “cushy treatment” and “protection from the guards.” Andy was saving the guards plenty of money, and in Norton’s case helping him embezzle hundred of thousands of dollars. Why would they fuck with him?
>>
>>220096386
Women look at a man's shoes straight away. If you have nice shoes you get compliments from women.
>>
Did Andy dig through the pipe on a practice run or did he only do it when he finally escaped and hoped he’d be able to make it?

Pressure and time

Absolutely true but even if you account for "The Sisters", there were no women in Shawshank Prison.
>>
>>220094463
Probably only changed it every couple of years and did the swap in the middle of the night like he did with the digging.
>>
>>220092962

too busy raping inmates and stealing contraband to actually perform checks thoroughly
>>
>>220095471
And it's not like the poster being there after the escape made much of a difference. Between the time it was first noticed Andy wasn't there for roll call and the warden tossing the rock through the poster was maybe half an hour at most.
>>
>>220093609
also mentions that near the end Andy had to be going crazy with the thoughts that he might be up for parole and the tunnel gets discovered early
>>
i've never watched this movie and i'll never will
fuck oscar shit
>>
>>220101134
Its your life bozo, its well liked for a reason
>>
>>220092962
20 years to dig that seems like a lot even though Morgan Freeman makes it seem like a short time
>>
>>220101024
Tunnel or not, the warden surely would have tried to sabotage any chance Andy had at parole. Andy saying he was "as indictable" wasn't exactly true since he could easily get a plea deal for turning against the warden and Hadley. Plus as someone in a position of power, the warden would be considered far more culpable.
The money would all have been confiscated but Andy probably would have been granted immunity. He'd be a broke ex-con in an age where huge book deals and tv appearances for such a story wasn't really a thing.
>>
>>220092962
>The Joker's butthole
>>
My favorite contrived part is where they say the gay rapist isn't really gay because Hollywood treats homosexuals like saints.

Oh and my other favorite contrived moment is the gentle avuncular Black man is actually a stone-cold killer but that's totally ok and he's such a good friend.
