What was the reaction to Bane's redesign for The Dark Knight Rises in 2012? Now it's iconic, but it was quite a significant departure from his comic book design, especially his mask.
>>220094821>Bane in the comic - almost the size of the Hulk>Bane in the movie - just... a kinda buff regular guy, not even super impressive for a humanDissapoint
>>220095733Yah, pretty much this.
>>220094821me personally, never liked this bank. his voice, his appearance, his size. it just didnt do it for me. still doesnt.
>>220094821The fact that they went with this voice and kept it like that still baffles me. I had to check the audio and make sure I didn't have a shitty bootleg the first time I watched this. I thought it was a joke at first. It's just unreal and immersion breaking. On top of yeah hes just a kinda buff guy. No explanation for the mask like it pumps aerosolized adrenaline or steroids into him so he's a psycho berserker badass fighter, just Tom Hardy hit the gym for a month and is talking in a megaphone three rooms over.
>>220095733>just... a kinda buff regular guyThese lingual gymnastics to avoid calling him what he really is.
>>220097412If he doesn't post that, will you die?
>>220097446it would cause an intense ache
because trying to make proportions only possible in cartoons and comic books happen in live-action movies looks entirely ridiculous and campy as hell
>>220094821There was a mixed reaction from what I remember, but it wasn't negative. They clearly dropped the luchadore influences which disappointed some fans. But the Bane coat definitely turned heads and won a lot of people over.
>>220098556Maintaining a semblance of realism (for capeshit) was one of Nolan's focus points and a venomed out Bane would have ruined it for sure. The mask just delivering an analgesic was kind of lame though.
>>220094821him being 5''2 was more off-putting
