You have Ewan and all these other good actors, but they're chained to a narrative that's already happened, especially Obi-Wan is just going through the motions to bring the story along like a bored, unwilling Gandalf. His only real emotional moment is when Neeson dies, a character and relationship that was fully new to the prequels. It's not like the events of Star Wars are a distant influence, the movie has to constantly shift focus back to them in order to build towards their conclusion. It's a huge fucking anchor.
People for some reason started to really think of movies as something they're not. A movie is just a bit of entertainment for an evening. Really, that's it. Does it entertain you? Then it's a good movie. Who cares what someone else thinks? It's really not a competition. It's you sitting in your house watching shit. I can pop in Phantom Menace right now, skip to the final act, and enjoy all the fun shit happening. How? I can enjoy things for what they are because I'm an adult and don't need others to validate my feelings. Imagine that.
