>4k UHD is released>looks exactly the same as the 1080p
>>220096931No it doesn't. I just got a budget 2026 Samsung Mini LED tv. 1080p Bluray of Sin City 2 auto upscaled to 4K by the tv looks fucking spectacular. I don't have a 4K player but if just upscaled 1080p discs look this good I'm sure with HDR10+ it would look lovely. This is my first 4K tv.
>>2200969311080p is fine too. It's literally fine, stop being a baby.
>his CRT can't handle the CHUD releasengmhdmi
>>220096931I got a 4k OLED tv recently and my tests with 4K and HDR seem to suggest its not worth the trouble. 4K does look clearer on a 48inch screen but its mostly noticeable on closeups of objects and does not make the movie more enjoyable. HDR just makes everything look dark. Ironically old technicolor movies from hollywoods golden age like the Wizard of OZ look best with bright colors and deep contrast.
>>220096931Actually, 4K movies look better on 1080p than 1080p because most screens/TVs have subpixel rendering, so all that 4K information is actually used to make a sharper picture. Obviously it isn't 4K but it's higher quality than 1080p.
>>220097673i bet side by side most people would prefer the SDR fallback lmao
Yeah, if the master is a 2K digital intermediate there just isn't anything more.
>noooo I neeeeed to see the actor's wrinkles
>>220096931Dumbass poorfag retard thread.
Ninth Gate just came out in 4k I started watching it last night it really looks basically the same, but some movies there is a big difference.

4k makes a difference when you're sitting 15ft from a 150" wide screen, when you're sitting 15ft from a 75" display you're too far away to even notice a difference. For home releases it's borderline stupid.
>>220099202hdr made everyone complain it was too dark that's about it and nobody wants to get blasted with 10,000nits so why even do that
