Just rewatched S1 of this. It is still so good, especially the beginning. Not a perfect show, but some of the best Netflix has produced.

The thing about S02 is that Mackie played a completely different character, less detective, more ex military/ revolutionary with magical powers while the plot shifted focus away from his personal motivations and more towards the big political conflict. It was almost as if it was a completely different show. It felt as a departure from the tech noir/cyberpunk identity of the show too, not only visually but in every sense, as if they had forgotten that cyberpunk never ends well. Pyhrric victories is the best cyberpunk characters can ever expect. Everybody knows that.

I tried to give season 2 a chance because of how good season 1 was but Mackie's simply not interesting to watch, complete charisma vacuum. In contrast the bad guy, whose name I forgot, commanded every scene he was in
