>>220098077>‘Tom Cruise was not happy’: Colin Farrell was so drunk on Minority Report he needed 46 takes for a single line
>>220098412It’s wild to me that Farrell was a huge alcoholic and boozing through filming. You can’t tell at all from his performance. Seems fresh

>>220098077Love that dark-Y2K Pspielberg trilogyA.I.Minority ReportWar Of The WorldsPspielberg's too soft to go anywhere like the whole way with the philosophical thematics like e.g. Ghost In The Shell '95 or The Matrix or other such tentpole sci-fi of the era with more disruptive ambition have been willing to, but the production design is inspired and lavish, really immersive. Love the research detail e.g. the older parts of Washington are untouched architecturally because of their historical status & it's the later 20th century bits that are redeveloped into enormous skyscrapers and maglev tracks, as would be more likely to get approved by authorities IRL. Wish they'd released the deleted scene with Adult Sean, though going by the script online (if real) the dialogue's a bit crap. Pacing is fucked near the end by having too small a gap between Cruise being halo'd and the wife rescuing him, makes it feel like there were never really stakes to getting halo'd which was the whole thing he was running from. You can still take the climax and ending as being a halo dream but it doesn't read as well imo. Tbf the obvious "Is it a dream?" dilemma is inevitable but fairly fatuous narratively, there's not really anywhere you can take it since its unfalsifiable & it doesn't particularly link back to the free will vs. determinism theme either. I suppose the only way you can analyse the film and come out saying it holds together thematically is if you interpret it as intending to be purely a film about how relying on nebulous and excessive technologies in matters of human judgement such as law enforcement results in tragedy, and nothing much else.>>220098532Nah he does look it a bit, I know enough drunkst. British
>>220098126You can tell how far the p&s was running down his leg by how much his face drooped in those seconds.>>220099077>too small a gap between .. the wife rescuing himGood point, but that eyeball wasn't gonna last forever; and nor would his id in the access database. It's a minor plot hole that, after being declared a yellow ball and wanted, that his building access wasn't immediately revoked. But that kind of security stuff wasn't really a thing in 2002 (it is now), and the future-thinking think tanks apparently didn't see it on the horizon.
>>220098532He's Irish so it's like uno reverso for them; when they're drunk they seem sober, when they're sober they seem drunk.

>>220100316What a perfect scene.
>>220100316I know it seems midwit to glaze this movie, but I really like the atmosphere and the little bits of dialogue that hint at larger philosophical issues. It's partially an action flick at the end of the day, and can only have so much talking, but I really wish I could just listen to more people talk about this kind of stuff (but not a podcast...dear Lord)
>>220100748Do “people” like (you) just immediately adopt any new xhitterism the instant it starts trending? Are you even going to be speaking English in 20 years?
>>220100316Literally one shot for a minute. Not choppy, not conspicuous either. Just using it in a practical way, keep tension high by having the camera locked to the action.
>>220098077And later he gets owned in nearly the same way.
>>220100316Im glad Spielberg made this instead of getting sucked into Harry Potter.
>>220100875He likes his oners
>>220101237Who kills him and why again? He was figuring out the truth?
>>220101524Max Von Sydow, who turns out to be abusing the system.
>>220100851Maybe, maybe not. Why do you care?
>>220100316You can almost see the blood leave his face. Man I love this movie so much, such a shame the third act kind fizzles out.
>>220100316>cast two of the most relentlessly handsome men of 2002>put them in a cramped elevator>tense, closeup scene>they arent making outfucking hollywood kikes and their blueballing. we were robbed.
>>220101524Lamarr. Agatha wasn't there anymore so the precogs couldn't see he was about to kill him, and Danny was on the verge of figuring out Anne Lively was murdered.
>>220101649I liked that aspect of his character, that he wasn't corrupt and probably would have backed John if he didn't get popped. He was just a cunt.
>>220101726Same. He was a by the books kinda detective, hated dirty cops, though John was dirty. Push comes to shove, Danny was a hero as well, he'd have helped taking down Lamarr and shutting down Precrime. Lamarr probably knew that, since he had his hook into the whole Anne Lively affair and wasn't taking the "it's just a repeat dream" or whatever bullshit excuse, he knew Danny couldn't be turned. He was a straight shooter.Movies where both the protagonist and antagonist are good aligned characters make for very strong dynamics. I just wish Danny had survived a little longer.

What was even the point of Max von Sydow framing Anderton? Anderton would've never even discovered the concept of minority reports.>inb4 "so the movie could happen"

>>220101850Precrime was a good thing though. It worked
>>220098532>You can’t tell at all from his performance. Seems freshHe counter the booze with cocaine. Check his coke nail next time you see the movie.
>>220101995>shoots him then fucks his facethat's life
>>220104371Agreed, and I'd support it if it wasn't for the conditions the precogs were being put through.
>>220098077Spielberg's best
>>220098077More movies where the initial antagonist teams up with the protag? It was so gratifying to see Colin Farrell's character defend Tom Cruise's innocence only for that old nigga shoots him unceremoniously.
How do anons feel about everything being a dream after this moment? It almost seems like they're laying it on thick with the "they say all of your dreams come true!"after this moment everything goes perfectly for Cruise
>>220108290I think it has just enough plausibility to make discussing it worthwhile, just like Total Recall being an implanted fantasy, or Deckard being a Replicant in Blade Runner.Seems like a recurring element in Philip K. Dick adaptations.
