>SCARIEST DEPICTION OF HELL>it's just a fat guy eating a bunch of paper and vomiting it down a drain
>>220106287Hellraiser is such a shit franchise.I thought there would be cool visual or lore, but there's literally nothing. It's not even a good horror movie.
Fat people are terrifying.
>>220106319The first 2 movies are cool
>>220106319It's a BDSM Bataillean franchise.
>>220106345No.
>>220106319Every movie past 4 exists to keep the rights and/or just another unrelated horror script that was sloppily retooled to be a Hellraiser movie it’s mostly boring garbage
>>220106319I like some parts of the second filmThe abstract art set piece lorded over by a giant, hovering geometric shape that shoots mind altering rays of light
>>220106287this one just made me nauseous. It's my least favorite.even the one with chunky Pinhead is more watchable.
>>220106380Yes.
>>220106345This. Those are the only two that matter.
>>220106287>SCARIEST DEPICTION OF HELLit's picrel for me
>>220107916Yep.
>>220107916The only reason his family is keeping him alive is because they would feel guilty allowing him to be euthanized. What he does isn't living.
>>220106287>it's just a fat guy eating a bunch of paper and vomiting it down a drainthats how the chinese make cocoons
I liked Hellraiser: Judgement. It was the best one in a long time. It had 3 pairs of magnificent tits within the first 5 minutes and expanded on the Cenobite lore.
>>220106287>SCARIEST DEPICTION OF HELL>from someone who doesn't even believe in hell, Heaven, or God in general
That's not the scary part. It's when it shows you what's on the other side of that wall consuming the black sludge. Even in hell, fat roasties will sit naked in judgement of you.
>>220107668Only some queer ass deviant enjoys any of the Hellraiser movies. Every last one is a steaming bowl of elephant urine.
>>220106345I don't see how anyone can deny them being cool. Yeah they aren't "good", but they are sure as shit very cool and unique.
>>220106287It just got bad after the second one
>>220108573No.
this was actually some german piece of shit that wasnt even supposed to be hell raiser but it was so derivative that the jews just slapped hellraiser on it
>>220106319It has some kino moments and some of the best one liners of all time.
>>220108243the ones attached to the girls putting their hands in vomit?
Everyone loves this guy
>>220106287A bot/foreign YouTube account posted a provocative but dubious title and description? No way.
>watch the first Hellraiser expecting some 80's horror kino>it's a cheesy cuckold storyDidn't even finish it. Fuck you /tv/.
>>220106287the scariest depiction of hell is in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
>>220111176Hellraiser is a very weird series. They're not GOOD movies, but they have a lot of interesting potential that is never actually realized properly. The series is created and designed by horror legends and artists, but the movies are just cheesy schlock.Remember that one of the main evil demons in the series, Pinhead, literally is just a normal-ass dude and even becomes a "good guy" in one of the movies.
WE HAVE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU
>>220106287I actually clickbaited this and ended up watching the movie and it's really not bad.
>>220111674It always pissed me off that the doctor was able to kill the Cenobites, especially Pinhead.
>>220111997Dr Channard was also a Cenobite by that time.
>>220112058I know that, but he was the clear bad guy and I wanted to see Pinhead show us a new level of malice and torture on the doc.
>>220106345Agreed, but I will say that Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth is worth a watch. It is an incredibly stupid movie; you feel dumber having watched it. But you can't look away. The slate of horror movies from 1990-1996 or so were frequently batshit, and this one is no exception. There are sequences in the film that are just so badly done that you can't believe that people paid money to see it in theater.
>>220106287Hell would be experiencing life again and knowing it will never end without respite. You will just work and be around the worst people you know every day. You can't have a moment to yourself. You can't enjoy some kino or vidya. It's literally life on infinite repeat without the little things that keep you going and you're unable to kill yourself. I can't imagine a worse hell.
>>220112130Pinhead wasn't the main villain in those movies. Clive and Co. didn't even realize how popular the character was. They wanted Julia to be the ongoing villain.
>>220112264The CD scene alone is perfect mid 90's iconography. I had quite the collection at that time and I and many other wondered what would happen if a CD was projected that fast. >>220112370I know, the Doctor was in II. Pinhead was about to have heel turn and become a good guy. I just wanted to see something crazy from him. I'm pretty sure I saw this sometime in the early 90's and just wanted a crazy supernatural battle.
>>220107916Not really. Going so retard that you don't remember your own name sounds comfy.
>>220111674Imogen is so damn cute
>>220112566cute jokekill yourself
>>220106345yeah I took years to finally see them and both the first 2 are solid flms aristically
>>2201128973 can be enjoyed on a "cheesy fun" level. That must be what they were going for they had a CD-head Cenobite that threw CDs like ninja stars. Also /jazz/bros, wwa?
>>220113074
>>220112467Yeah, until you get moments of lucidity.
>>220113117Thank you for this. Saved.
>>220106374>its good because i attached an -ism and a -ean word to itawesome
>>220112130Doc was the stronger cenobite, his design was cooler too
>>220113848Leviathan empowered Channard to defeat the old crew.
>>220111044Whats not to love?
>>220106380except yeah
>>220106287Kino scene, kino character
>>220112566is there anything scarier than dementia?
>>220106287Oh wow, clickbait link is Le clickbait?>ya fell for it Better luck next time kid
>>220112622a good one
>>220111669This is why AI will eventually replace everything.
>>220106287>>SCARIEST DEPICTION OF HELLThe whole second half of Gaspar Noe's Climax while not literally Hell is the closest to what I imagine a Hell would be. Do recommend.
>>220106319If you’re old enough to enjoy 00’s goth shit and computing nostalgia then Hellworld is a lot of fun to watch just for the aesthetics. I think a lot of people forget that these movies are always very much “of their time” and that does impact how well they age. I like them but they never come close to the mystique or sense of ‘something bigger’ that Clive Barker manages to get into his actual writing (sometimes). He blatantly uses ghostwriters now but even The Scarlet Gospels which is an unpopular Hellraiser story had bigger ideas and drama than almost any of the movies ever did.
>>220106287The hellorgy scene in Event Horizon.
>>220106287It's terrifying because he had no choice over getting fat. That's the hell we live in.
>>220106287The one movie that always sticks out to me in that regard is The Black Hole. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVGG1Fb02BQ
>>220108381It’s funny how Christcucks bring this up from time to time when Friedkin was an atheist and made the best religious horror ever. Put that in your pipe and smoke it
>>220117187You shouldn't use the word "Christcuck" in public. People will think you're retarded.
>>220117293>people who believe in a magic sky daddy that was 3 forms at once and killed himself will think you’re retardedOh no! Anyway…
>>220117361If your entire understanding the world is reflected through the prism of cuckoldry, people will think you're a retarded child play-acting at being intelligent.
>>220117420That’s a lotta words to say you’re mad for being call a Christcuck
>>220108381So, what? Only people believing dragons exist should make or watch movies about dragons?
>>220117478So what's it like being an idiot?
>>220106319F I L T E R E DYou have shit taste in movies, buddy
>>220112507>wondershe means his penis
>>220106287the Auditor is probably the most interesting character the franchise added. Everything else about 'the process' was weak though.
>>220107916Was his cameo in the Gorillaz video his last kino appearance?
>>220108591First one is a solid 7.5/10, two is like 6.5/10, so still pretty decent in its own right.
>wife helps the person who raped her at knifepointIs this something you have to be a sex-haver to understand?
>>220111044PUCCI?
>>220107916Is there anything scarier than dementia?
I like Hellraiser, even the shitty ones, but the entire series contains precisely 1.6 actually good movies.
Bump
>>220106345What no love for Pinhead in Space?
>>220120426I rate 1 and 2 very highly. I like the 3rd one a lot, it's not a great movie, but its also the doug Bradley show, so it's fun just to watch him chew scenery.
>>220116941He was by far my favourite author growing up.Weaveworld, Cabal and The Great and Secret Show were awesome urban fantasy horror stories. I long gave up waiting for him to write another good book.
>>220107916>>220113181>>220113181>Yeah, until you get moments of lucidity. That's what happened to Robin Williams, it was the reason for his suicide.
>>220108573>Other people are deviants>Now let me describe a bowl of piss, I really want to visualise that. It's healthy to think like this. >>220109220A shame. What was that incredibly retarded one that was just a crime thriller, and then right at the very end, pinhead shows up and takes the antagonist to original hell, do not steal?
>>220106319The first one is good, second one has good elements, but overall yeah. They constantly kneecap themselves by making the cenobites outright evil, which is lame and boring. It was cool that they are just torture hedonists with an alien sense of morality but are otherwise agreeable and could circumstantially be the good guys, but that gets discarded very quickly and they just become bad guys who do bad guy things. Also they overexplain their origins and overly humanize them, like the cenobites initially give the impression of being these ageless extradimensional beings that have been skinning people since the beginning of time but when you find out that they were all recently human and pinhead was even in WW1 (so if he hadn't opened the box he could reasonably have still been alive during the events of the film), they all become a lot less impressive.
> And then I think maybe there's no devil. You die... and God, he says, Nah, nah you can't come in. You have to leave now. You have to leave and go away and you have to be alone. You have to be alone forever.
>>220106287The Auditor is a cool concept(a pencil pusher for Hell) but it still doesn’t make Judgement good. It’s a cheap cash grab like everything after 4.
>>220124101>and then you'll find people like you, and you'll be alone together in a cantonese patchwork championship, talking about threads and whatnot all day. Alone, together, with other forever alone people.
>>220107916I would end myself asap if I was aware enough to realise I was sliding into dementia, as soon as fucking possible before I risked forgetting.
I was walking towards the metro today in japan and saw a cutie pass me wearing a hellraiser sweater and before I could turn around and say anything she was already gone in the masses. I hope this is not goodbye forever my japanese hellraiser gf
>>220106287>Scariest depiction of Hell
>>220117187wasn't that based on a book?
>>220119956if you know women, you understand.
>>220119966LmaoWHITE SNAKE!!!
One think that irks me is that the straight to video sequels gave them the perfect opportunity to just go nuts with the gore and crazy shit that doesn't have to make sense. At this point, the only people coming back are the die hard fans. Just go for broke.Instead, they decided each sequel has to be a lame Twilight Zone mindbender which the first 4 never were.I get it was because of budget reasons, but you can't tell me they couldn't do gore on a budget. Fake blood is cheap. Clive did the first one for pennies.
>>220125564Yes, supposedly based on a real exorcism.
>>220106374>George Bataille reference on 4chinwow
>>220106287https://youtu.be/eu9VIYWckdo?t=5115
>>220117187Friedkin was an agnostic who still firmly believed in the teachings of Jesus Christ despite being born and raised a Jew and he was very good friends with Blatty who was a devout Catholic his entire life and in his later years he even started agreeing with Blatty that the Director's Cut was the definitive version for stuff like removing any ambiguity that the devil could have won in the end even though he initially only released that cut as a personal favor to Blatty in 2000 and always preferred the more subtle theatrical cut until then. He was an interesting guy.
>>220106319the lore is much more developed in the comics, which has better stories too
>>220113117better than Carrie's party?!

>>220124315>The Epstein Island suite? It's right there, lil'buddy, 3rd floor, room 211 to 2016
>>220126859
>>220117187It's well documented through interviews that Friedkin and William Peter Blatty had arguments daily about the production of the film and how the religious tone should be portrayed. imo Friedkin won but Blatty had his hands on the last third of the movie
>>220127764An Italian exorcist, Gabriele Amorth considered the movie to be quite a realistic depiction of an exorcism. Of course the levitation and such things were overblown.
>>220120206>>220124297Having worked with this shit a lot many years ago, these are rational lines of thinking
>>220112467you are so stupid it actually hurts. thats not how dementia works. imagine the way you felt when you had realistic nightmares in your sleep and it was so terrifying that it stuck with you. im sure you can recall one youve had. its like that but worse. just constant confusion and bizarre feelings jumping in and out at you and then you have a moment of lucidity where you stand there realizing youre wearing a diaper and some filipino nurse is changing you at the nursing home and you have no idea how you got there or what youre name is and you still think youre 18 years old.
