>Episode where Homer abandons Christianity = he is portrayed as bad and immoral

>Episode where Lisa abandons Christianity = she is progressive and enlightened

How is this fair?

The first few episodes of any show owned by gods chosen people are less propagandistic. They draw you in for a few seasons. Then start pushing the usual narratives.

The Simpsons movie sucks and I judge you horribly if you like it

Is there an episode where Lisa wizzes with the door open?

I just think it's neat.

Homer left to pursue further vice.
Lisa left because her church became corrupt and devoted to Mr Burns.
>>
>>220120525
the homer episode is from season 4, the best season of the whole show during its golden age. Lisa with richard gere episode is from season 13 when the show had completely jumped the shark
>>
>>220120623
this. had already stopped watching the simpsons for a half decade by the time the movie came out, well into the zombie seasons
>>
The process of sampling religions in this episode is weird, like it doesn’t sound very sincere
>>
>>220120598
except season 1 of simpsons fucking sucks. it doesnt get that good until like season 3

Capitalistic commie faggots

Homer's Odyssey mogs your whole fucking life it's crazy and I'd trade your safety for that episode any day of the week.
>>
>>220122137
season 1 of simpsons isnt even trying to be funny most of the time. Its like a hold over from boring 80's sitcoms that are all about very special episodes

wow, its almost like hollywood is a business above all else

>>220122216
golden age Simpsons to most people is seasons 2-8 or 2-9. season 1 gets left out because its less funny, drawn different and only like 12 episodes
>>
>>220120525
wow, a simpsons episode from after the 90s wasnt fair and it sucked? thats crazy
>>
>>220120525
Yes and no. Their motivations were different and Homer didn't abandon christianity altogether but rather made his own version of it.

>Pandering to small fringe groups in the West while bowing to repressive foreign regimes.
It is not very smart in the long term.

>it's another "Lisa gets an inappropriate amount of attention from a grown man" episode
Yikes

King of the Hill literally went in reverse. It started as a show about silly socially regressive conservatives, and then Hank basically became the hero.
>>
>>220122638
It was completely different and not the big conglomerate it is now, hundreds of companies and careers were ruined by a simple miscalculation. If it happened now, it's going to be big
>>
>>220120525
that lisa episode sums up what the simpsons has been for the last 25 years: pandering to the celebrity guest of the week and pushing some left wing bullshit cause
>>
>>220123425
There're worse example, Lisa goes Gaga is a far more clear example, hell even the episode where Lisa goes vegetarian is worse than this one.
>>
>>220124391
>Lisa goes vegetarian is worse than this one
wrong. you can say the man plot of that episode is annoying but its still from the golden years so its written well and has good jokes
>>
>>220120525
The episode where Homer stops going to church on Sundays was classic Simpsons, made in the 90s. The new episodes are for college kids with abortions and estrogen pills.
>>
>>220124391
IT'S JUST A LITTLE AIRBORNE, IT'S STILL GOOD
>>
>>220122254
More like 3-9. Most people don't think about season 2 at all except for a few scenes.
>>220124652
>She of Little Faith
>new
That episode is 25 years old
>>
the homer episode was written by an atheist former catholic if you listen to the commentary. he is alway surprised that it gets such a positive reception even amongst churchgoers, but i guess the standards for subversion werent that high yet during that time. people werent used to fedoratipping mouthbreathers like you, OP
>>
>>220124740
>That episode is 25 years old
yeah, thats how long the simpsons has sucked. less then 1/3 of the show is good at this point
>>
>>220120525
Even classical Simpsons didn't really know how to write Lisa.
It's kinda interesting. Homer and Barts are likeable for different reasons.
I have this theory that Simpsons are based on Greek gods.
Homer is likeable because he is essentially a representation of incompetence, sloth, short temper, and still trying his best. He is Dionysus.
Bart is a representation of vigor and mischief. He is Hermes.
Marge is representation of stability and marriage. That's Hera.
Lisa's only consistent trait being wisdom, Lisa is based on Athena.
How ever Lisa is far too smug to be likeable, Athena is supposed to be humble.
>>
>>220124870
That's not my point. Of course the Simpsons was already shit when it came out, but an episode from 25 years ago isn't a "new episode".
>>
>>220124939
thats just how fans of classic simpsons feel. yes episodes from the early 2000's are technically old at this point. but since the simpsons has been on such a cartoonishly long time it still feels like everything made since the 90's counts as "new" shitty simpsons.

>look ma! I posted it again!
props for changing the image i guess but you're still a faggot and should kys

>>220122784
>regressive
Hank literally sticks with the things he knows work. Almost invariably when he's exposed to something new and different, he comes aroind to liking it in the end. It wasn't until the end of the original series that every episode became "new thing bad, Hank's way of doing things good"
>>
>>220124806
Probably because at the end of the day Homer repents and goes back to church the same.
>>
>>220124924
I don't think Lisa was ever meant to be humble, even in the early seasons it's been brought up a few times how she's a bit full of herself and has a know-it-all attitude.
>>
>>220122169
I feel like this works because there's a certain weight to how season 1 does things that doesn't happen later on. Like, you can see that S1 Homer is a genuinely good person who goes through screwed up shit, so episodes can take his problems seriously and work well. When he chokes Bart for the first time it comes off as a genuinely shocking thing rather than a routine gag. Later seasons don't have the same tone.
>>
>>220126315
>Later seasons don't have the same tone
yeah, good. Simpsons wouldn't have lasted so long or have been as successful if it stayed like season 1
