>entire movie is so on the nose that the central metaphor is literally impossible to miss, like it's absolutely spoon-fed to the audience in plain English and as subtle as a brick to the face>people still don't get it How is anyone supposed to make movies in this day and age when the general populace is so dense? Should media literacy be taught in schools as a subject on its own?
oh yeah? whats the central metaphor then, tough guy?
>>220121183Don't look up what?
>>220121183And it just keeps becoming more and more accurate depiction of modern day America each passing year
>>220121225climate change. did you even watch the movie?
People got it. The disastrous and apocalyptic hype of climate change is just too much. Since when was it the normal and mainstream opinion to have that the world is literally going to end?
was it actually about climate change ending the world? lmao thats gay as fuck
>>220121280>climate changeunproven theory
>>220121280How does me burning all my trash make a rogue planetoid smash into the Earth?Because if I knew the answer I'd burn either more or less trash to speed up the apocaplypse.

>>220121264So much this sister. Make sure to vote really hard in the mid terms to defeat fashism!
>>220121183It's about demographic change right? Some people don't care, some people believe it can be profitable, but it will literally kill everyone (nobody competent left to maintain complex systems)
the only good part in this movie is when they're having dinner in the end and thinking about their own demise
i can't wait for the world to end, it can't happen soon enough
>>220121183When it comes to writing, the essence is to write ambiguous, leaving things open to the interpretation of the reader/viewer. The human brain needs closure so it needs to have an answer to the mystery. The thing is average people often don't get things or don't even bother.
>>220121183I mean besides the sanctimonius agitprop, it is reflective of reality in some ways. I watched a vid on the Mongol invasion of Europe. A monk visited lands under Mongol control and made it back to write a guide that was widely read advising the Europeans to pool their armies and present a united front. What actually happened: everyone except Hungary disregarded it. Hungary and Poland proceed to get scorched earthed repeatedly while Western Europe twiddled their thumbs. Only the Byzantines (who were early Post-Schism and didn't read the Catholic monk's guide) implemented any of the tactics recommended to defend Serbia. Eventually the Mongol threat dissipated as they had internal disputes and other threats emerge like Tamerlane. No thanks to the earnest efforts of the monk.
