This scene unironically gave me goosebumps on my last rewatch but only because I'd read The Disaster Artist.

There's this part in the book where Tommy randomly disappears for like six months. Greg calls one of his many phone numbers to leave a message and check on him, and the next day gets this long anguished message from Tommy where he talks about killing himself. Greg never got any clarification as to where Tommy was or what was going on with him during that stretch, but when he came back he had the script finished and almost immediately started working on getting The Room filmed.
