>>220128918Goatse is still around, not as much but it has memetic potential. If you really wanna go "oh yeah", try meatspin. The public opinion on tranny porn has changed so much that meatspin wouldn't even be classified as shock content anymore (at least not on here and other edgy places).
One of the weaker parts of the show is how lax they become about security and being bugged. In season 1 they briefly the bouncer and Christopher searching for bugs at the Bing and over the series I think they mention it like once or twice they've swept for bugs recently. Later on they show how adept the FBI is at inserting bugs into Tony's domestic residence. Then they show several made guys wearing wires in later seasons. Considering the ramifications of recordings you'd think the show would discuss how that plays into these guys lives.Instead it's ignored almost completely. Tony is visiting Junior who is under house arrest with some flimsy excuse "I came in through the back." Then once he's inside they talk business.
>>220130314I think they addressed bugging enough, especially given the lamp in the basement sequence. There was also the part in season 2 where T yells at Sean and jerks at his shirt as if he's wired. It wouldn't have made the show better to keep on discussing wires and surveillance after doing so enough early on, imo.
>>220130709I agree with what you are saying completely. I'm just pointing out how disjointed the show feels at times. One moment Tony is (rightfully) paranoid the government is onto him. The next moment he's at Uncle Junior's house while he's under house arrest by the Feds discussing offing mustang-sally with Bobby's Dad.
>>220127543Bar Mitzvah
>>220130922>>220130314Isn't it thematic? For example, the later seasons have Tony removing the GPS from his new Escalade and Junior worrying about Tony not using the back door. But they also start revealing long-standing characters like Ray or Masarone as informants who record audio unsuspected (at least until Masarone gave himself away). To me, the implication is that Tony did become lax about his security. Just one more reason contributing to his downfall.

>>220131103>Tony removing the GPS from his new EscaladeGood point. Yeah, I think they focused on surveillance and the like plenty throughout the show.
>>220131310Indeed. Just trying to start someone's terrifying trip down the rabbit hole.
>>220131103Good points. I don't think the show had the discipline to be consistent about these details, and the fact that every so often they'd bring it up actually made it more obvious they mostly ignore this lifestyle aspect of being a mob boss. Maybe David Chase didn't believe the audience cared about the tedium of Tony starting half his conversations with "let's go somewhere more private." Maybe it was David Chase who didn't care and just wanted to write a family drama with mob glitter thrown on afterwards
