The second series moves on to the war in Europe, makes Paddy the protagonist, and massively cuts down on the gay shit. It's a bit better than the first. But if it's the stylised dialogue that bothers you, I doubt you'll ever change your mind about the show. Paddy is always a pretentious poet prick.
