Once they had managed to reach Angel Island, what was the plan exactly? Why not go for the mainland directly?

>idk ask them
Better ask while you still can.

Stephen King, the thieving hack, saw this movie and later the same year wrote the novella that Shawshank Redemption is based on.
>>
in real-life the inmates almost certainly were trying to make it to the mainland and drowned in the bay. in order to give the movie an ending they invented the angel island thing and the flower the police find that supposedly doesn't grow there

Yes, anon, there were zero isolated prison escape movies prior to 1979's ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ.
2000 years of Literature and absolutely no prison escape stories at all!
>>
>>220130798
No evidence they made it or didn't make it, they were never found
>>
>>220130798
They almost certainly made it IMHO. Too many leads pointing to it, and three bodies don't disappear in the bay when there's nothing to hold them down. Pretty sure that comes next september the status of limitation for the escape will come to an end too.

Exactly, thats what im saying!

they covered this on mythbusters. They made it to the marin headlands so its possible. The tide sucks everything out of the bay. I doubt they really made it since they were never heard from again and the police were watching their relatives. Most likely they drown in the bay and the bloated corpses were sucked out to sea to be eaten by scavengers.
>>
>americans actually get punished for trying to escape
lol makes no sense to me
>>

I dunno. I'd like to think they did. The bay is cold. You sink and gasses can't expand that make you float if you drown. Plus you got Great Whites patrolling the bay.
We'll never know.

I'm going to be honest the fact that none of the escapees ever came forward to tell their story is very suspicious.
I'm sure they would have liked the money and fame.
Literal Nazis gave interviews in South American hotel rooms to journalists.

This is just the actor not the real dude that broke out.
