When I go back and watch old shows and documentaries, mostly pre 2000, I hear a remarkable difference in the way people speak. They actually form clear, coherent, sentences and do so without having their words heavily edited, e.g. YouTube, TikTok videos were every pause is removed to produce a jittery, stunted rhythm. It’s like a linguistic erosion.
