i maintain that gattaca is nothing but fearmongering stalling inevitable progress.
*inevitable
--something that will eventually happen, no matter how much you stall, whether you like it or not

It teaches how to think about art too. The way Salieri describes structure and metaphor, the king's march scene, even the characterization of Salieri as one who sees art missed by most people. It's provocative and challenging, but without losing its big heart and beneficial purpose. Amazing movie.

one time the class had this substitute teacher so she just had the TV set up for movie day, and the substitute teacher is like 70 years old. She had like Biden brain. And this kid had a porno VHS in his bag and he swapped it out and the old lady didn't see. and she put it on play and then sat down in the desk and took a long moment to realize something was wrong because she was just too old. she got up looking all flustered and embarassed and tried to cover the TV with her hands instead of just turning it off

He killed himself by walking out of a 14th-floor window in Manhattan. Anyway, I'm with Channel One TV and an unnamed organization has funded millions of dollars (which is a lot of money back now) to distribute free televisions to tens of thousands of classrooms acros America, an unprecedented scope, to seed propaganda into your classroom, such as important things happening in Africa right now. I remember bill nye and ferngully and an episode or two of frontier house. By the time I was in high school they just used projectors connected to a desktop to pull up "educational" youtube videos, but my bio teacher would bring in DVDs of kino like Gattaca when she was hungover so it wasn't a total wash.

By senior year I was in an alternative high school (read: forcibly segregated to not drag down the district's test scores and funding) and almost every single teacher had kids filling out sheets of toddler-level questions while they played music or youtube videos of epic fail compilations. By the time I graduated public school felt like state-run daycare without any real pretense of education, even from itself, and that was in 2015. I can only imagine how bad it is now

I shit you not we watched Kids, pretty sure they started it 10mins in to avoid a sex scene but that was decades ago so I could be wrong. I think one of the teachers had PTSD from the aids stuff that happend in the 80's, or maybe just scare tactics, because I cannot fathom why you'd show that to a pack of feral teenagers from an area mainly known for its gang violence and teenagers getting pregnant.

You retard, what an absurdly wide net you've cast. Something is happening right now, you psychic.
What specific thing would you like to actually predict. I'm assuming it's 'widespread adoption of aggressive gene screening', maybe even 'state mandated'. We screen out some extreme defects currently, so you're obviously not talking about that.

depends. if it was unplanned, as was usually the case with these emergency roll-outs, then some Nat-Geo documentaries or some safety PSA-type shit (road safety, safety playing near building sites, etc etc)
was rare they ever rolled it out in a planned manner and don't even recall what they'd usually play; probably some local/national sporting event like getting gold at the olympics etc
