I'm rather fond of Babylon 5's ships..

Star Trek definitely.

I like human ships in Stargates, SW has a couple of very iconic designs and I'm somewhat amused by WH4K cathedrals in space, but ST (the actual one obviously) clears this one

Halo.
It's a tragedy that a Halo movie trilogy wasn't made in the late 2000s/early 2010s. Now it's too late, any attempt would be woke and gay.
>>
>>220145020
Definitely. They absolutely nailed the aesthetics for military and civilian, human and alien, good and bad. Like the white star is absolutely what a main hero ship should be. And the shadow vessels are especially iconic (well they are in air and in space but maybe less so on the ground).

I always loved the Shadow ships phasing in and out of space.

I think Star Trek's ships from the original era before the pozzed modern stuff were really cool in a scifi and logistical sense. Totally far out there in terms of tech with the warp drives and stuff, but still sort of based on scientific theory. You could imagine those things being manufactured in the future and being operated by a space navy. There's something satisfying about how they had a unified aesthetic and consistent design principles.

The Expanse is another good one. It has ships that not only look cool, but work fairly realistically with acceleration-based gravity, despite the fusion engines being fictional technology.

A lot of other scifi ships are conceptually mid tier even if some of them look cool, like the ones in Star Wars.

Kek, that show had so many bad actors.
>>
>>220149768
You know they don't fly the space shuttle by looking out the window, right
>>
>>220142677
There's something extremely appealing about Star Trek federation ship design. All other ships in the series are kitbash garbage, but they hit a home run with the design language of the hull/saucer/nacelle configuration.

>>

Excuse me but those ships are often crewed by belters, people who were born and bred in space and therefore capable of high g space maneuvers despite being unable to stand up on earth because of the gravity.
>>

Macross/Robotech.
>>
>>220149869
If they don't need to see out the windows why does a 17 km long ship need an exposed bridge that the enemy can just kamikaze a fighter into?
>>
>>220147536
Problem?
>>
>>220150895
in start wars sensors jamming is real issue and such bridge gives actual visual confirmation for command(ask Lucas why no one uses cameras i dont know) and its not like its easy target it has strong shields etc braching that would be the same as breaching ship anywhere else and there is better targets like ships generator. Also there is second bridge for emergencies deeper inside ship.
>>
>>220148228
>>220149827
That was a good episode. I believe it was the first time we saw a shadow ship. They blew up that ship to retrieve an artifact for Londo, and then Londo returns it to his government for a bunch of exp points. It's how Mr. Morden gets Londo to "trust" him initially.
But yeah it's funny how that guy reacts.

trek. klingon and romulan ships specifically
>>
>>220151906
I think the Executor would have been fine in any other situation. It was too close to the Death Star and ended up in its gravitational pull when it lost navigational control. The whole battle was a clusterfuck of bad decisions due to overconfidence and hubris.
>>
>>220151892
really enjoying Andromeda so far.
I'm told it turns to shit in S2. I'll see for myself soon.
But honestly some the episodes have been pretty heavy, so I can understand the perspective of wanting to lighten things up.
>>
>>220152034
That's why it's retarded; there should have been a back up system to take over to prevent that.
Imo, it's an issue with the script and not an issue with in-universe ship design.
>>
>>220151884
Discharging photon torpedoes while right on top of another ship seems incredibly reckless.
>>
>>220152187
Starships that can travel trillions of miles a day fighting each other at a distance of ten paces seems incredibly stupid.

I never liked how combat was depicted in Star Trek. I don't mind the short distances, but I do mind that these massive star ships are flying around like nimble fighters.
Andromeda had the same problem.

It still irks me that they put both Trek and Star Wars in the hands of retards who don’t understand how much it damages immersion and verisimilitude when you allow the big capital ships to drop down this close to a planet’s surface. It’s like seeing an aircraft carrier in the local creek.
