How did a meme atheist make the most poignant religious movie in recent history?
>>
Atheist know how to bait atheists, Leftovers season 1 is another example
>>
>>220144846
It's actually interesting to think about, his cringe leftyfag hatred of god shines through the whole thing, and yet he wrote the protag priest as a genuinely good person with ironclad faith, which in turn forced Rian to honestly engage with the benefits of faith in order for him to be presented in a good light.
>>
it's just another example of liberals being patronizing towards religious people
>let them have their fantasies. They are retards. You wouldn't take a toy from a downie

correct way of dealing with religion is pointing out how retarded and childish it is. There's no dignity in treating adult people like little kids. Neither for you nor for them. And there's also no dignity in being adult and larping as a christian. Yeah, i'm talking about you, op

Atheists love shitting on religion, but they have zero answers when asked the questions that religion was created to answer.
>why does reality exist?
They do not have an answer to this, and just seethe and cope about it. The problem with atheism is that ultimately saying that there isn't a God comes down to a question of faith, in the same way that saying that there is a God does. I have no problem with agnostics, who are at least honest that they don't know the answers, but atheists are insufferable.
>>
>>220146329
Yeah, the fact there is something instead of nothing is pretty blatant divine stuff. But of course, why is there divinity at all either.
It's all very very weird that anything exists at all.

>Atheists love shitting on religion, but they have zero answers when asked the questions that religion was created to answer.
>>why does reality exist?
>They do not have an answer to this, and just seethe and cope about it.

Well, the answer is either "someone created it" or "it emerged naturally on its own". Both are answers that mostly raise further questions. And neither is really more likely than the other.
>>
>>220147409
Yeah, that was kind of my point. If you say that you know that God doesn't exist, then you're going on faith that there is no God. Since atheists like to claim that they are rational while religious people are cultists, you'd think that they wouldn't base their beliefs off of faith. Instead their entire belief structure is built upon a position that relies on the faith of no God. It's much more rational to say that God may exist or may not, but atheism instead takes a really firm stance without having data to back it up.
>>
>>220147522
Suppose so. I don't know whether god exists and I'm not too proud to admit that. But I also think anyone telling me that not only they know he exists, but also what his nature is and how he wants me to act, is full of shit.
>>
>>220147591
Fair enough. I do believe in God but I'm not particularly religious. The reason that I don't hold religions in contempt in the way that I hold atheists, however, is that religious people freely admit that their belief in God is based on faith, and faith isn't completely rational. If atheists were more honest then I wouldn't dislike them as much as I do, but they pretend that they are entirely rational when they are not.

Atheists understand religion better than religious people. Sad but true

he revealed himself in scripture, what don't you understand?

Religion is just another fictional story to tell.

>>220148093
Why I should trust these scriptures over all the other ones that contradict them?

wake up dead man. its very annoying for a hundred reasons, you probably will think its trolling you at certain points, but ends up being a pro Catholic masterpiece at the end.

The Edda, the Veda, the Theogony, any of them.

>>
Only atheists and agnostics can make good religious kino because a religious person will inevitably just make propaganda, they can't separate their faith from the art
>>
Damn this thread got derailed in record time.

The answer is he's a good writer, and people who are still ass mad about his Star Wars movie seem to be under the delusion that Disney didn't have any kind of hand in it just because he said so (obvious damage control to save his career)
>>
>>220146329
>why does reality exist
Because non-existence of something is impossible? Existence is the only state.
>>
>>220148514
so what happened before existence?
>>
>>220148391
Oh, okay, then.

Why do adults believe in magic
>>
>>220148616
you have to understand that all religions have a Christ figure coming back, only in Christianity does it have a Christ figure coming back who's not just fake but Satan himself. You probably havent figured out that Zeus = Odin = Osiris = Satan yet have you?

>Religion used to be the opium of the people. To those suffering humiliation, pain, illness, and serfdom, religion promised the reward of an after life. But now, we are witnessing a transformation, a true opium of the people is the belief in nothingness after death, the huge solace, the huge comfort of thinking that for our betrayals, our greed, our cowardice, our murders, we are not going to be judged.

There are things that can be known through reason. Sure there is an autistic extreme like Aquinas saying exactly at which speed angels travel at in a vacuum. But taking humans as image bearers, nature as created, you can postulate on the nature of God and the attributes a being like that must have. Try reading the Summa Theologica if you're interested, or Mere Christianity for a less technical work that still delves into the nature of God a little, for a layman Lewis was pretty smart.
Faith is a stumbling block for normies. Anyone who seriously thinks about this realizes all world views depend on faith.
