why are they so afraid of adapting this?
>>220146013There Will Be Blood was already it
Americans don't care about it, Chinamen don't care about it and as far as the American film industry is concerned, those are the only two demographics that exist.
>>220146013Too many "n" bombs
>>220146013Disney hates ducks and don rosa. they literally banned the book even.
>>220146013Because the (((executives))) know he's not really Scottish and are afraid the audience could figure it out as well.
>>220146013hehehe can i ride on ur back like i used to when i was littel uncel scroge?
>>220148084Wish I had that relationship with my uncle. He just wants to wrestle all the time.
>disneyYou already know that Goldie would be a bootlipped bantu.
>>220148153
>>220146013They did adapt it, its called "Duck Tales" you should approach Don Rosa at a convention and ask him about it
>>220148300That creates mustard gas.
>>220146013They've done Ducktales a few times already...
They fear the duck butts.
>>220149150
>>220149275
>>220148334>ooooh chile
>>220146013There's a part where Scrooge buys valuable diamond mines with glass beads from african tribesmen and he burns down a village in the Congo. Those were censored from a new edition of the books. Can't imagine they'd be willing to put those on the silver screen.
>>220149363They were only censored because of Bombie, burning niggers alive was not a problem for Disney.
>>220149363And it's the stupidest thing ever to censor it. It literally defeats the entire point of the entire book. It's the final arc of the story, to show what uncontrolled greed does to a man (or duck). This character who we have been following and cheering on suddenly turns out to be a monster. The entire book has been building up to that moment, Scrooge was never a "nice guy" but he had an heroic aura and many respectable attributes. The village burning is the subversion towards the end of the book, when he finally stepped over the edge, when he went too far. He struggles with the shame and consequences for the rest of his life, and only comes to some sort of understanding of his own actions towards the very end. Anyone reading the new censored version will learn nothing. It's literally the most pivotal moment in the book but disney fails to understand their own IP.
>>220149543>see frog image>don't read postSorry you're retarded.
>>220149363>>220149543There are no new censored versions. Disney wants to censor them and Don Rosa doesn't allow them to use his name for censored versions so it's just completely out of print.
>>220146013Why are copies of this so expensive on eBay? Been meaning to replace the German translation I've had forever with an English one and everything seems to be listed in the $50-200 range. Is it out of print or something. Disney that petty?
>>220150255>Is it out of print or something.Worse, the newer versions are censored
>>220148334>loosely-basedLiterally the same characters and stories. Comic book people are psychos.Although Disney is evil, probably broke Don Rosa’s mind.
>>220150482yah having actually read some of the old comics ducktales is a fairly faithful adaptation
>>220149712>>220150434Wait so who's right? I'd be willing to bite the bullet on a $250 copy of volumes 1 and 2 in decent condition, but I dont accidentally want to get a censored version if these already exist. Also I just realized I let a friend borrow my German copy years ago and he probably lost it by now
>>220147524If it were 2000s Italians could adapt it but they animation industry is long dead
>>220147750this!
>>220150837Had the same thing happen to the volume 2, only one of the series im missing. Maybe I should sell them all
Speaking of ducks, a proper PK adaptation would blow 95% of modern capeshit out of the water.
1. Scrooge is considered a C-List Disney character to the points that even when they finally did revive DuckTales, there was a mandate in place that every episode had to have the nephews or Webbie as the main lead and Scrooge a supportIng cast character.2. Disney would have to pay Don Rosa SOMETHING royalty-wise to the story if not give him credit for the project which Disney doesn't want to do3. It's not a kid friendly story and the climax of the whole thing is Scrooge committing war crimes against a village of Africans and their unleashing an undead African zombie to torment Scrooge to the ends of the Earth, which culminates in Scrooge's family disowning him.
>>220147750Banned!?
>>220151437detective noir mickey is the only non boring iteration of mickey's character, the christmas and the video game players stories are two of the best comics i ve ever read
>>220153198>the christmas and the video game players storiesWhat are the names of these? I don't think either one was published here.
>>220153298i dont even remember, i cant find them online either its one that takes place in a department store involving a fake santa and the other is about some troubled arcade playing youths being used to pilot fighter jets/drones, i think the one i had had this on the cover but its a mess the stories are old but they were republished or smth
>>220152996DuckTales reboot got away with using the zombie by just redesigning him into "Solomon Grundy if he Beagle Boy"
>>220149363It was a rubber plantation and he did it by pretending to be a different buyer.
Same reason Disney has banned the comics from ever getting reprinted again, racism.
>>220146013It's just too cool
