Zombies? I don't think so. 2 rounds with the pulse rifle - take em out. I prefer the shotgun though. Shotgun is bad news for any zombie. I'll take on the entire zombie apocalypse, just gimme a shotgun.
You ready for the zombie apocalypse?

Assuming you are starting from the start , probably find a basement or attic , barricading and hooking yourself up to liquids and morphine so you stay unconscious but alive for the first month then. Let all the tryhards and idiots get killed so there's less competition for any resources left.

If not ? Going to live in your local school.

If it's Walking Dead zombies, there is no strategy
They literally made a season about that, you can have a perfect society sheltered, and some old fuck could hav a heart attack or a kid break his neck playing on a tree and suddenly you have a zombie on the inside
>>
>>220161213
If it follows Walking Dead rules that anyone who dies turns than you can be fucked pretty easily no matter where you choose to hold
Picture the scenario
>guy goes to sleep
>guy has a heart attack and dies in his sleep
>its night so no one notices
>guy turns into a zombie
>zombie is now in the middle of the living quarters ready to stealthily chomp some people.

>>

You would think after that long a successful society would be aware of that possibility and have curfews, night watches to mitigate it. Not that someone still wouldn't die or get infected, but if you have rotating guard duty on the sleeping areas it should stop it from becoming a full blown disaster.

Become a prepper so you don't have to fight for supplies with things start. Try to think what other people will be doing, and don't do that.
>we need to get out of town
Roads are gridlocked and zombies are eating canned humans
>let's go to that island just off the coast. no zombies can get us there
Thousands of people are already there, and they're eating each other
Best thing to do is stay home with your supplies.
Use your interior doors to barricade your windows.
Fill your bath with water for when the faucets stop working
Dismantle your stairs and use a rope to access downstairs
If you need to use the roads, ride a push bike because they're quiet, can fit through small gaps, can go off-road, and can be carried
>>
>>220163942
Why do curfews and night watches has ANYTHING to do with what I said, you think people only suddenly die at night or something
>>
>>220164077
What bullshit did they pull to explain that the zombies are still running around after 30 years in the new movie? I have yet to see any zombie story that can make that make sense.
>>
>>220164748
They just gloss over it, sadly. So even though days and weeks show the zombies dying off because they eventually just die of starvation/thirst, in years they're doing just fine. Some zombies are shown crawling on the ground for any worms or whatever else to eat. Others are shown chasing and eating wildlife like deer. But it still contradicts what we're shown in the first two movies.

I just try to look past it. 28 years later is decent. bone temple is much better but also requires you to have watched 28 years later first because it's a direct sequel.
>>
>>220164736
Daytime accidents wouldn't typically be a problem because usually there would be a witness to what happened and everyone would know to report to a guard that someone had died and needs to be neutralized before turning. Night time would be far more dangerous because someone could die in their sleep and turn before everyone wakes up. Curfews would prevent people from being out of their sleeping quarters at night and potentially dying on their own, and night watches would hopefully catch someone starting to turn in their sleep before they can wake up and bite a bunch of people.

>warm dry weather so zombies turn to beef jerky on their trek to my palace

See I always thought that the desert would be a better bet than some cold place for zombies, assuming you have enough water and shelter to survive it yourself. Realistically there is no way that zombies exposed to the elements for a year in a place like death valley or something would at all be functional anymore, just completely dried out husks. You might get unlucky if you went the snow route and when it starts to thaw a bunch of zombies jump out of a snowbank and cheese you.

This is solvable by everyone having their own sleeping quarters and locking their own doors when they go to sleep. If they die and turn into a zombie, they won't be smart enough to unlock the door. And during the day just don't leave anyone alone for too long, if anyone drops dead there should be someone else nearby to blow their head off before they rise.

Aside from that, I feel the military realistically should be able to handle typical zombies. You can obviously tell who's a zombie and who's not so it should be easy to segregate and kill the turned. It's not like it's fucking covid where it's impossible to tell who has it and who doesn't and you can't just kill the infected.
>>
>>220167677
That would only solve the problem of somebody quietly dying then fucking everything up after people know what's going on. Remember, Rick's group didn't even know they were all infected and everybody turns as long as their brain is intact until they met the CDC guy at the end of season 1. By that point the world was FUBAR. In the early days anyone dying in their sleep, committing suicide (unless they blow their brains out), ODing in some alley, dying in a car crash or dying in a hospital or a nursing home is a potential new outbreak.
>>
>>220163515
>Its pretty much unavoidable

There isn’t one. Maybe if you’re a trained military special forces operative who knows how to survive in the most hostile environments, how to handle weapons, and so on, then you have a chance. But for 99% of people, there’s no chance. It’s only a matter of time, and that time will come very quickly depending on how contagious and strong the zombies are.

I've worn armour before. the gambeson would be boiling hot and cook you alive. without the gambeson you'd be fine heat-wise but the additional weight would still exhaust you over a long afternoon. generally speaking armour is overkill for zombies. the gambeson alone would be bite proof. rigid armour would be more useful as a weapon than protection. I accidentally punched a hole in my wall with my elbow while taking a leak.

Depends on the kind of zombie you deal with, if it’s just your run of the mill biting shambles then just go somewhere very cold/hot and then set up a fortified settlement until you can completely rid area hell it may not even cause an apocalypse, aside from cities which can be quickly quarantined the infection wouldn’t really spread and the military could probably get a hold on the situation quickly given that zombies are not known for athleticism and mainly rely on strength in numbers and overwhelming horde tactics. If it’s TWD zombies then you’re fucked, no one is safe and things are just going to slowly deteriorate. There is always a risk of someone just up and dying and then becoming a zombie and biting someone.

get a small group of people...move around until you find another group who has a system set up...enforce your ideals as the only way...fuck it up...move on, wash, rinse, repeat
>>
just gotta do the opposite of what most people would do

I’d stick close to a mountain with sufficient glaciers for infinite drinking water, exposure and water will kill most people either directly or through conflict. So a mild climate (California near the mountains say, is a good bet)
Gas goes bad after just a few months

I’d avoid moving around much at all. It’s very easy to track a car/bike. Stay put with some chickens and rabbits would be a good bet. Get a few giant bags of oats and rice on the way out of town. And you’re solid

Physically believable zombies would decay and be gone within months, magic zombies maybe a few years before walking around just literally shears them down to the point that they disentigrate from exposure

Very comfy. I’m tired of movies depreciating bunker life devolving into cabin fever and social breakdown. I want to see a movie about people that are anti social and naturally enjoy bunker life and get along while they wait out the apocalypse

>>
i'm at season 5 and something that really irritates me about this show is the contrived decision-making and melodrama. people never do as much as they can for defense, zombies pop out of nowhere, and characters make unrealistic emotional decisions that put themselves in danger.
>>
>>220163515
Everyone gets an arm shackled to the bed before they sleep, and the door is locked, there, no zombie threat.
>>
>>220186617
it's kinda sloppy and lots of unimportant melodrama happens so it's easy to skip through a ton of it in a binge

Probably be easier just to have everyone where pic related masks to bed. And if you’re sick or wounded you wear it all the time.

Due to shows needing action and games needing "balance", people don't realize that the best thing to do is to just not fucking move. Why would anyone attack your specific random house or apartment? Just stay inside, make no noise, cover every window and barricade entrypoints. You'll have enough food and water to last long enough that things get calmer, and once they do, you can grab any weapon and go explore other houses right next to you. Either the occupants already fled at the start, or they're just a couple zeds, easy to deal with. When every house is a solid week of food, you don't have to move at all to be safe.

>>220189799
Zeds can universally kill you by clawing through your flesh or beating you to death so that's not very useful.
>>
>>220161213
Farm and chill.
>>
>>220189946
Basically the strategy the black dude and his son did in episode 1. It’s pretty smart.
>home field advantage
>let people do all the killing for you then just collect loot
>just sit around in the dark reading books and jacking off to physical copy porn
>>
>>220189946
>>220190012
>not everyone will have enough food and water
>people will leave to find and reunite with others (your spouse or kids or parents are stuck on the other side of town, for example)
>looters and raiders going around fucking shit up
>if a fire breaks out it might destroy your whole neighborhood because nobody is coming to put it out and now you have to evacuate
>>
people are unrealistically evil in the show too like in terminus. yea, when state capacity collapses there will be bad people. but there would be far larger gatherings of good civilizationally-minded people than is depicted.
>>
>>220190012
Indeed, and he would have survived easily if he did not randomly start shooting to put down his undead wife. There is no reason to move or take risks, just stay still, quiet and live. Either the zeds obey to some physical rule and they all die, or they're magic and you just have to wait for them to not be in the immediate area so you can loot the houses next to you and have months of supplies.

The only scenario in which holding up on the spot isn't the best idea, is an SNK type one, where the zeds (Titans here but similar concept) can magically detect your presence through walls.

>>220190138
>not everyone will have enough food and water
Everyone can easily survive a couple days without food and everyone has sinks.
>people will leave to find and reunite with others (your spouse or kids or parents are stuck on the other side of town, for example)
Yeah, those are the retards whose houses will be empty and easy to loot.
>looters and raiders going around fucking shit up
Not remotely likely to be a problem to you, the chaos of the first day would very quickly stop as either the army or the zeds would shut that shit down. It's possible that your place gets burned down, and in that case you just move to the closest place to escape from the niggers, but it's very very unlikely.
>>if a fire breaks out it might destroy your whole neighborhood because nobody is coming to put it out and now you have to evacuate
Then just move to the next block, fires don't sprint and supplies are everywhere.
>>
>>220189946
what happens is looters and rape gangs will go door to door and kill everyone. shelter in place is terrible advice because after 2-3 weeks you are weak, running out of water and food and a soft target.

the best strategy is to be physically fit and walk to the coast, and then steal a boat and live 2-3 miles off shore, fishing and sailing until you make it to an island. you have basically 72 hours to do this, because more than 5 days in people will start really panicking and shooting each other on sight. the government has strict plans for a big event like this, and that is to go underground and launch nukes, which is what would happen around the 120 hour mark. the reason you nuke is to contaminate above ground resources for a few years and to reduce your population, both things mandated as critical for post-disaster recovery.

the ocean will be okay because the water can act as a radiation sink and the tides will circulate it globally within a week, reducing your overall load from the fish. but if you are inland you are cooked because rivers will carry heavy pollution until at least several heavy rains.

Terminus and Whisperers were a bit ridiculous, but the Governor and Negan were realistic post-apocalyptic warlords
>>

All those hazards could happen on the road as well. Might as well have the home advantage.

Pretty much yeah. It’s not 100% perfect but would definitely increase the survival odds of their first victim.
>>
>>220190274
You're vastly overestimating the human threat because of shows that need action. And that retarded behavior would get them killed very quickly by zeds or just environmental dangers, plus killing each others, low IQ sociopaths don't form stable groups, and they won't each bash down 200 doors.

>the best strategy is to be physically fit and walk to the coast, and then steal a boat and live 2-3 miles off shore, fishing and sailing until you make it to an island
You're not a main character in a movie. You're infinitely more likely to die for one reason or other doing that than you risk ever encountering le looter rapists by staying in place. TWD Telltale was pretty good in showing this, everyone fantasizes about the boats and it all gets picked clean immediately. And you really need actual knowledge and experience to pull off the boating life if you even get the boat.

This. "We need to keep moving" is the writer talking, not logic. Hell, if it wasn't to captivate the audience, there was basically no reason to evacuate Hershel's farm in the first place. Just have everyone hole up quietly upstairs for a few days while the herd passes, there was no need to burn everything down and fire a shotgun.

If you're not panicking stupidly and imitating movies, the biggest danger of the apocalypse is boredom and depression.

Came here to post this. Island on a huge river. Abundance of freshwater and fish, can always grow some crops, the river will always bring lumber for burning and building.
>>
>>220190507
yep there's a reason civilization keeps coming back even after collapse. the more prosocial masses keep banding together until something stable forms
>>
truth is i dislike most characters and eagerly await their deaths.
>>
>>220190507
>there was basically no reason to evacuate Hershel's farm
To be fair they left the farm for a prison, which has to be one of the smartest and most secure places you could live in that setting
>>
>>220190507
Expanding on the subject, way too many people everywhere and in this thread want a perfect autonomous fully defensible area that will last them indefinitely from the start. But the overwhelming majority of casualties aren't from lacking supplies 3 years in, they are from running out the front door on day 1 trying to get to some supposed paradise.

Just stay in place, wait for all the retards to die and calmly evaluate your options. Just because you stayed hush hush in your neighborhood for 3 months doesn't mean the good places you could go to have disappeared.

>>220190624
They didn't know that and they spent months on the road, but yes in the end the prison was a good place.

Anyway I need to go to bed, good night anons.
>>
>>220190624
the prison they let a ton of zombies walk around with no attempt to properly gate it over the course of 9 months or however long they were there for the contrived reason that other humans would know humans lived there

I feel like the only way to survive any extended period of time is to have a good doomsday bunker. Actually getting to it might end up being hard but if you can ride out the apocalypse without dealing with zombies or other humans. Just you and your family.

z-max was just discounted v-max ammo that didn't fit the v-max specs. z-max is to v-max what xm193 is to m193
idk if they still have it and are selling it but you could buy the rejected FBI 64 grain bonded soft point loads for a while. you can buy the normal 64 gr loads now, but you could buy the rejected ones for cheaper for a while
>>

I would build some sort of mangler or hydraulic machinery that crushes and discards the zombies.
Then when they're thinned out you don't have to worry anymore.
