It's pretty good. I like the digital rotoscope effect they used, similar to A Scanner Darkly.
>>

Has anyone here tried to consciously lucid dream? Meaning you make the effort to realize you're in a dream while dreaming which then makes it easier to control
>>
>>220175245
I attempted it for a couple years, yeah. Insofarasmuch that I kept a dream journal and tried to accomplish the task by sheer will. Nothing was really accomplished but I'm pretty sure I've experienced at least one lucid dream where I realized I was dreaming but I don't really remember being able to "take control of it" and I definitely can't remember what it was about but it was years later pretty much at random.

I think I still have the little book about teaching yourself to do it around here somewhere...

I love this movie. I hate the writing man in the cafe. he's terrible.
>>
>>220175370
Yeah, not the best part but I'm pretty sure it's describing the movie you're currently watching.
>>
>>220175425
the lines are fine on paper I just think the actor didn't understand them.
>>
>>220175503
Yeah, just rewatched it and I agree with you. Didn't really sell the "I'm frantically creating and am enraptured by the process" all that well.

"Duuuuude philosophy and dreaming and shiiiiit, man."
Shit movie for pseuds with nauseating art styles.

Cool. You're in your early twenties at the oldest. Here's some advice. Never post on 4chan again. It kills your soul and free time. Sign up for every dating app possible. If you don't find a wife by the time you're 25, it gets hard. If you're 30 it becomes nigh impossible.
>>
>>220176562
>all the philosophy in it is cringe and retarded
it seemed okay to me at the time but then again I was like 16 when it released
the art style is cool, someone oughta overdub and re-score it to make it based and hilarious instead cringe reddit philosocrappy

He was dying and his last brain neurons were firing before he finally died (floated away).

No.

Schizo patrol did NOT like this thread for some reason.
>>
>>220175067
Yeah I love this movie too. I'm still sour that Bob Satison never released his proprietary software that he developed to rotoscope in this style. It only was used for scanner darkly, waking life and a few commercials for a bank afaik. >>220176611

>The guy that walks by and says "Kierkegaard's last words were "sweep me up"" was Louis Black
Huh.
>>
Alex Jones came off as a sane visionary in this movie that hated bipartisan politics.

What the fuck happened?
>>
>>220177396
Louis Black and Lewis Black are two completely different people. I don't think you realize that it wasn't the raunchy Jewish atheist comedian.
>>
>>220175083
The only reason he made scanner darkly is because he sank so much money into custom made proprietary rotoscoping software and he wanted to recoup, so he enlisted so a-listers to try to do a quick cash grab.
>>
>>220177441
>AI says Lewis Black was the guy at the pinball machine
>AI also says (seconds later after rephrasing the question) that Linklater himself was the guy at the pinball machine

Why are we putting so much faith in this technology again?

No? Why would I lie about this?

I showed this film to my high school humanities teacher and he gave me an A and I didn’t have to show up for the rest of the semester. Shit was so cash. And it’s not even that deep on a human level, just pretty to look at while sounding smart. Guess my teacher was an idiot, eh?

pros:
>it's kino
>God is real
>expands mental and spiritual horizons
cons:
>what is with gen X valorization of suicide
>>
>>220175067
I think this movie fucked me up bad. I saw it and now I can't have normal ideas about death, the concept is so intriguing it bounces between a happy acceptance and a fanatical obsession. The idea that death is another life outside of the concept of religion really resonated hard with me. I just wish it didn't coincide with a dark period in my life so the thoughts of suicide weren't so intertwined. I can't think about it normally anymore.
>>
>>220178484
It would seem that everything ends sometime.
>>
>>220177483
But A Scanner Darkly wasnt actually a box office hit to accomplish that, right?

>download every dating app possible

Great advice, dipshit.
>>
>>220175245
Yes, and you can control everything, but you realize its all fake anyway.
>>
>>220175319
The easiest way to lucid dream is setting an alarm at a point where you are in deep REM sleep. That happens at a frequency of about 90 minutes while sleeping.
It wont work when you are falling asleep, only in the morning after the majority of sleeping.

If you dont remember your dreams, you sleep not enough. 6 hour sleep nights wont work for lucid dreaming, you have to sleep longer. I would say the timeframe of 6 to 8 hours is the best time to go lucid.

I stopped lucid dreaming because its pointless.

He dug too deep and the truth about the world drives a man insane
>>
for me it's The Holy Moment
>>
>>220175245
I've done it a bunch of times using the "light switch reality check" trick. But I never managed to stay in the dream for very long after becoming lucid, I always woke up soon after due to excitement. I gave up after trying it for a few months and I haven't even thought about lucid dreaming in over a decade.
