Finally bothered to watch the full movie. How do people call this shit a masterpiece again? It seems confused on what its own themes are meant to be and often contradicts itself. The Poe/Holdo subplot is utterly pointless. Rose Tico is worthless as a character. "Reylo" feels fanfic tier. It's not even a good movie on its own merits let alone a Star Wars movie. All it has are ideas and it fails to execute on every one.
>>220185212No one is calling any part of the sequel trilogy a masterpiece. Almost nobody even says they are good. Don't invent a strawman please. You can shit on these movies all you want but that IS the consensus opinion, don't pretend you're a rebel.
>>220185212>How do people call this shit a masterpiece again? Why do you just make shit up and decide it's true?
>>220185259I'm talking about the loud minority contrarians who say this movie is "the best" or "at least it was smart". It had none of that. It failed to deliver as a movie, and it failed even more as a Star Wars movie.
>>220185304Contrarianism is its own form of trolling.
>>220185304These people don't exist. They are most likely coping for some reason or another.
>>220185212The Last Jedi wasn't a movie, it was an incident.I'll always remember Twitter on the premier day. The two takes were either:>This movie sucksOr >If you don't think this movie is a 10/10, you're a horrible person and a nazi
>>220185259To be fair, “critics” did. To this day, it sits at an absolutely ludicrous 91% while both Disney as well as its “fans” accuse its detractors of review-bombing and botting. When it hit Netflix, they went so far as to discontinue the review feature on their website just to perpetuate that narrative. When I heard that was happening, I went to their site and screencapped the reviews that got posted before they took it down just so I could prove them the liars that they are. Here’s the final tally. If you took those reviews and applied RT’s rotten/fresh metrics to them, it would be sitting at ~9% approval rating with a score of 2.5/10.
>>220185276>How do people call this shit a masterpiece again? It was fucking good, u retarded.
>>220185212People were bitching about the prequels for years too but now most people at least tolerate them. The sequels will be fondly remember soon as well.
>>220185212Kennedy and Johnson made it shit
>>220189025>we will learn to tolerate shitgreat
>>220187209it sucked. you obviously have low IQ. watch Mauler's breakdown and i challenge you to refute any point he makes about how god-awful and universe-breaking TLJ is
>>220185304That was just the consensus leftist opinion to take on the film at the time in response to the white male nerd outcry.
>>220189025massive X to doubt. it's called "disney star wars" for a reason
>>220185259They are. It's so good to see prequelfags have to deal with the same shit they've been putting OT fans through
>>220185212>How do people call this shit a masterpiece again? No one does this without a paycheck from lucasfilm.
>>220185212>How do people call this shit a masterpiece again? It's 2 things combined:1. A lot of midwits/idiots who aren't star wars fans watched it and thought it looked nice visually and had a great soundtrack (ie the Nolan effect)2. Astroturfing. The people who liked it, only to discover that it's maligned by literally everyone with a brain, figure that if they keep defending it, eventually they can reshape the conversation and prove that they were right and ahead of the curve the entire time3. Journalists who refuse to admit that they were wrong and fall into the category of easily-impressed retards
>>220189025No, they won’t. It was a different world at the time and going to see the prequel films before you rented a prequel video game at Blockbuster and tuned in for the Clone Wars cartoon at a specific time was a much more special experience, compared to today’s zoomers having to sit through interchangeable Marvel/Star Wars/CGI slop films their nerd parents took them to while half asleep from having spent hours on a phone or tablet.
>>220185259reddit loves the sequels, they defend them
>>220185304>"the best" or "at least it was smart"By Star Wars standards, sure, it most certainly is.
