Jeffrey Katzenberg and his brand new DreamWorks studio were really going for Disney's jugular with this film
It wasn't as successful as DreamWorks hoped
>>220191658>after spending a century making Americans less interested in the Bible, a jew is sad that he couldn't get more Americans to pay him for telling a Bible story
Why did they think it was a good idea to release it on the same day as this romcom?
He has a point
>>220191803Kids and families generally don’t go to romcoms and romcom viewers probably don’t want a Bible kid’s film on date night.
>The sad fact is that The Price of Egypt is actually terrible theology, unless you define “good theology” as “carefully dabbing out all the unpalatable material in the Torah so that it won’t offend modern viewers”. There are, in truth, only a few specific changes to Exodus; and nearly every single one of them is designed to obscure the degree to which the YHWH of the Hebrew Bible is a mean-spirited piece of work; i.e. in the film, we are told that Pharaoh is stubborn and prideful and for this reason he will not permit the Hebrews to leave Egypt; in the source material, he several times decides to let them free, until God “hardened his heart”, apparently because God wasn’t done showing off. But going any further in this direction would be tedious and pointlessly confrontational of me; let it suffice to say that The Prince of Egypt is exactly as religiously correct as you anticipate from anything that Steven Spielberg signed off on
That song by the Steve Martin/Martin Short priests isn't very good
>>220191607>berg>dude, jews built the pyramidsoh wow their first piece of media was propaganda aimed at kids. crazy
>>220192413As a former child Egyptaboo, Playing with the Big Boys is pure kino and one of the best songs in the moviehttps://youtu.be/cLomnZIvoFs
>>220191607Jewish fantasy, anti-animation, boring ass film. 70% of it is people talking inside tents, it didn't need to be animated at all. If this was going to be the future of "animation for adults" I'm glad Shrek shat all over it.
>Prince of Egypt: 101 millon>Road to El Dorado: 50 millon>Spirit: 73 million>Sinbad: 26 million>Antz: 90 million>Shrek: 268 million>Shrek 2: 441 million>Shark Tale: 160 million>Madagascar: 193 millionDomestic box office results of their only 2D movies and their first five CGI movies
>>220194853a shame because Sinbad is actually quite a fun and entertaining movie.
>>220194919DreamWorks didn't even submit Sinbad for the Best Animated Feature academy award. They were that disappointed with it
>>220195149I personally hate the rise and complete domination of 3d animation but, unfortunately, I understand why so many studios abandoned 2d. Guess I have to keep watching anime to get 2d animation.
I personally enjoyed Antz more than Prince of Egypt. It's wittier, funnier, and tells an original story instead of being an adaptation
He spent a gorillion dollars on Boston Jewniversity
>>220191927>>220192274>>220193151>>220193979>>220196691Reminder the Book of Exodus along with the entirety of the Old Testament is the canonized word of God and literal historical record. Every Christian denomination maintains it as canon. Christ Himself recognized Moses as a prophet and praised him.Blaspheming against Exodus or any other aspect of the Bible is spitting in the face of the word of Christ and our God repent and save yourself from the fires of hell
>>220194919Sinbad has some great animation, the main villain especially, but is far less coherent than any of the other 2D Dreamworks films and is easily the least impressive.>>220196651It's a better movie. It's better the Bugs Life as well.
