One of the biggest rules you learn in gun safety training is to never point one at somebody unless you intend to shoot them.
He knew it was a real gun, he didn't know it was loaded. But he easily could have checked if it was loaded, and should have been taught how many many times in his career so far.
Also he was exec producer and there was multiple gun safety incidents on set before this happened. He's a lazy arrogant trashbag who got somebody killed through negligence

He hired the armorer, and half the crew walked off set just 24 hours before the because of 2 negligent discharges, one resulting in an injury. Instead of firing the negligent armorer, he fired the union crew and bused in non-union workers.

Then he shot 2 people.
>>
>>220208203
Actually real guns are almost never pointed directly at people when shooting movies. They use either fake guns, or camera tricks/editing to make it look that way.
Also this didn't happen while they were filming a take for the film, Baldwin was just joking around between takes like a complete fuckwit.

Wrong. Knowing an employee is criminally negligent and continuing to employ them makes it your responsibility
>>

>>

>>
>>220208342
It's a precaution. You don't point your fake gun which is still very much a real gun at real living people in the event that the bullets in the real fake guy are actually real. Get it, retard?
>>
>>220208400
So the armorer job's was to teach them gun's safety and she didn't? Great let her root in prison then
>>
>>220206634
Damn, I could give a random person a button and tell them to press it, and if it kills someone they're responsible and not me.
>>
>>220208414
But why would there be real bullets in it? You get that's the armorer job so it never, ever happens
>>
>>220208428
Baldwin would have been taught how to do this dozens of times already during his acting career smart ass. And yes he also should have been taught again for this film clearly.
>>
>>220206634
If the reasonable person would assume the fake gun is incapable of firing live rounds, then yes.
If the gun is capable of firing live rounds, it’s everyone’s duty to make sure there aren’t any in there, even if some are more culpable than others. Never assuming a weapon is safe until you see it yourself is literally the first thing anyone who handles one is told.
>>
>>220208452
There was literally multiple gun safety incidents on the set of this film before he killed that woman.
>>
>>220208465
>And yes he also should have been taught again for this film clearly.
Thank god they locked up the responsible for not teaching him.
>>
>>220208526
And who allowed that to happen?
You think if the armorer wasn't doing her job and safety training the people on set then maybe her boss, or the person that hired her should step in and do something about it?
>>
>>220208516
Thank God the person whose role was the gun safety on set got prison time then.
>>
>>220208400
Someone being given a gun should never really have to check. The gun should be given to them racked back/chamber out. When I did armorer work I wouldnt even accept it if it wasnt or they handed it to me wrong.
>>
>>220208544
Nah why would that be? You hire an adult person to do a responsible job you hired to, you don't have to oversee everything, that's the fucking point of hiring a professional for a job.
>>
>>220205472

>>
>>220208623
kek
>>
>>220208587
He didn't even receive the gun from the armorer personally. It was some fuckwit 3rd party.
Even more reason to be suspicious of the gun as an actor who had likely sat through 10+ gun safety classes before
>>
>>220205824
>except for shooting and killing the woman and wounding another guy
>that, and the part where he pointed a real gun at a woman and pulled the trigger

You don't understand how the law works and what is liability.

The movie production company hired an armorer to handle all weapons on set. Alec, an actor, was handed a gun and told it was a blank gun by 2 different people. They were filming a scene were he aims the gun at camera and pulls the trigger. The armorer screwed up and somehow a real bullet was put into the gun.

Alec is not responsible.

The prosecution TRIED to make a very flimsy legal argument that Alex should be some responsibility to "triple check" the gun despite being told twice that it was a blank round. That "guns should always be treated as dangerous".

However that legal argument fell apart quickly. Why?

The defense pointed out that if Alec needed to triple check the gun because guns should always be treated as dangerous, then the Cinematographer shouldn't have been behind the camera filming the scene. The Cinematographer should have used a remote control for the camera (which is standard equipment) for the filming the scene.

In addition, it would make many actors and actresses who do the same film (because it's standard industry procedure to listen to the armorer) also legally liable.

Therefore the prosecution's argument made no legal sense. The judge agreed and the argument was thrown out. The people held responsible were the 2 people who told Alec that the gun was safe.

- The Armorer was charged with involuntary manslaughter. She received ~2 years in prison.

- The Assistant Director, the 2nd person who specifically told Alec the Gun was safe, was charged with negligent handling of a firearm. That charge is a misdemeanor and he was given probation.
>>
>>220208657
Why wasn't the armorer doing its job then? All guns on set are its responsibility, like, have all guns locked up until you hand them over not just having them easily available around.
>>
>>220208374
He knew what the armorer was up to because he literally fired and replaced half his crew, who walked off after complaining about

2 negligent discharges, one resulting in injury. literally less then 24 hours before the "accident"
>>
>>220208657
How did the third party get the gun in that state?
>>
>>220208773
Oh yeah he knew she was up to give him a gun with live rounds, makes sense he would purposely shoot with that, amazing logic right there.
>>
>>220208773
Not a legal argument.
>>
>>220208848
This. Its not like it had already happened twice, one resulting in injury, scaring the crew enough half walked off 24 hours before, or anything

>>220208871
*that applies to rich people
>>
Quite incredible that he got away it. I wasn't expecting him to go to prison, but leaving scot free anything is quite the thing
>>
>>220209042
He wasn't responsible to begin with. They went after him because he was a celebrity.

If this were an ordinary case without a celebrity, they would have just charged the armorer who handles the guns. Not the actors
>>
>>220206592
The armorer fucked up but the production itself hired her as an armorer/production assistant and she only got the job because another girl who worked as a prop master was also an armorer who was supposed to be supervising her but increasingly told her to stop doing armorer stuff so that she could get the prop stuff for the movie done.
And the assistant director is supposed to check a gun thoroughly after the armorer hands it to them but somehow he got off without even being charged for anything.
Also, because of where they filmed they didn't need a licensed armorer they could just hire whoever so they got a nepo baby who had never done it before and constantly made her do other work besides being an armorer.
t. retard who read the entire police report.

>The movie production company hired an armorer to handle all weapons on set
Alec was a producer btw, so when you say "The movie production company hired" you mean Alec hired. That wouldn't make him criminally liable but it would make him civilly liable.

>The prosecution TRIED to make a very flimsy legal argument that Alex should be some responsibility to "triple check" the gun despite being told twice that it was a blank round. That "guns should always be treated as dangerous"
Anybody who knows anything about guns know this. You are a nogunz liberal like Alec Baldwin which is why you both think it's okay to point a real gun at somebody and pull the trigger. You are responsible for any gun in your possession.

>>
>>220215330
That's not how the legal system works.

>That wouldn't make him criminally liable but it would make him civilly liable.

No. That would make the corporate company liable. Companies are treated as separate entities than people. The company gets sued. The company either pays or declares bankruptcy.

Alec Baldwin and his personal assets are fine. He's not *personally* liable. His company is.

If Microsoft hires an armed security guard, and the guy accidently shoots an employee (thinking he's a robber), then Microsoft is liable. Not the CEO of the company. They don't reposess the CEO's house and car to pay for damages. Microsoft pays for it using the company's profits or company insurance. The CEO is left alone.

>You are a nogunz liberal like Alec Baldwin which is why you both think it's okay to point a real gun at somebody and pull the trigger.

Which is why he hired professional certified gun handlers and armorers to handle the guns. That's their job. Alec is not a gun expert.

>I have been handed many guns that were said to be empty and I still never pointed them at someone and pulled the trigger because I am not a nogunz liberal like you.

The movie scene they were shooting required Alec to aim the gun at the camera and pull the trigger. That was the scene. If anything, the camera operator probably shouldn't have been directly in front of the pistol. They could have connected a remote control for the camera.

>You are responsible for any gun in your possession.
The court disagrees. He's an actor and was told he's holding a prop. Other professionals were supposed ensure it was safe and 2 other people told him it was safe. Even if Alec Baldwin checked, he wouldn't know the difference between a blank round and a real round. They would look like the same bullet in his eyes. That's why the court didn't find him liable.
