>According to a leak, AMC Global Media, Sony Pictures Television, and BBC Studios are about to announce “a three-series global reboot of the iconic sci-fi franchise.” Production is expected to begin in 2027, with the first season slated for global premiere in 2028
>The three companies will jointly finance Doctor Who. The BBC will remain responsible for airing the show in the UK, AMC Global Media will oversee international premieres and streaming rollout across its portfolio, while Sony Pictures Television will lead worldwide distribution and franchise expansion
Will another reboot save Doctor Who? Does anybody even care anymore?

>Doctor Slop
no thanks
>>
It can't be worse than the nu-Tennant and Gatwa years, right?
>>
>>220206261
Unfortunately, yes it can, as RTD is staying on as executive producer, and his prime directive is to push the woke propaganda as far as possible. The Doctor will probably be a trans disabled 'woman'.

Doctor Who THE HELL CARES!?

According to what leak where, exactly?

It won't be long before you won't be able to tell the difference between it and parody videos like this one

Is this true? If so, its over before it's even begun
>>
>>220206216
Women want to self-insert as the Doctor's attractive young companion who gets taken on exciting adventures, but that's problematic, so the Doctor has to be either a girlboss that no one likes, or a literal gay nigger from outer space.
>>
>>220206216
When they say "reboot" they just mean "continuation" like every other so-called "reboot" of Doctor Who? Not an actual reboot?
>>
I was told it wasn't for me and not to watch it, but I had already quit watching years before. Tired of gay nigger shit. Britain is pathetic.

Matt Holness should be the showrunner and the show show look like an episode of Garth Marenghis' Darkplace. This would keep things cheaper and give it a distinct visual identity different from anything else on current tv/streaming (and also harken back to the Golden Era of Doctor Who)
>>

I am so excited!

The Whittaker years were worse than that.

He's staying on for the next Christmas special but there's no info beyond that about the future of the show.

>>
>>220207142
Would the show be better if it wasn't so British?
>>
>>220207196
No. See Torchwood Season 4 which was made by a US production company, that's what American Doctor Who would be like.
>>
>>220207235
It was kino.
>>
>>220206216
The problem with Doctor Who is that Britain has lost all its eccentrics. Troughton, Pertwee and Colin Baker were all zany fuckers in real life and you could feel that in their performances. It's no coincidence that the show dropped off after they left. The most eccentric guy we got in Nu Who was arguably Matt Smith (Capaldi was a legitimately great actor so was able to hold the show together by himself). Its clear that they dont know who to cast now
>>
>>220207152
Haven't we already had enough of "make the show deliberatly shit on purpose" for the last eight years?

Nu-uh
>>
>>220207408
RTD didn't think he was making shit. He's been completely surrounded by a LGBTQ bubble for the past decade, so he truly believed that everyone would love Ncuti as a high-kicking yasss-qweening Doctor Who
>>
>>220207423
But that just proves my point. The show was beginning to turn around in the McCoy era because McCoy is an eccentric guy irl. Basically they need to cast that autistic train guy who's gonna be on the new Top Gear

OH BOY I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT FOR ANOTHER FUCKING REBOOT OF A POPULAR FRANCHISE MADE BY PEOPLE WHO FUCKING HATE THE FRANCHISE.
SURELY THIS TIME IT WON'T TURN INTO SHIT.
>>
>>220207142
>I was told it wasn't for me and not to watch it
This. They made a big deal about how I wasn't supposed to watch it because it wasn't for me.
>>
>>220207518
How does RTD hate Doctor Who?
>>
>>220207558
He hates what it was. He only likes it in as much as he can mold it into an extension of his own personality.
I doubt he's seen any of the original series since it aired, because he'd be offended by almost all of it.
>>
>>220207558
He doesn't care about Doctor Who, he only sees himself in the show and thinks it was only successful because of him, so he's using it as a high profile vehicle to make total shite for the sake of his fucking ego
>>
>>220207558
>Doctor Who is “A Gay Show”
https://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-gay-russell-davies-106840.htm
>>
Frankly, RTD would be offended by his own show from 20 years ago. It's blindingly heteronormative, and the lead is a white man.
>>
>>220207389
>Its clear that they dont know who to cast now
There's tons of lesser known quirky theater fags they could cast but the suits will want someone who is "marketable", fits DEI standards and preferably is attractive to female audiences

Most of the genuine eccentrics in the younger generations troon out in an esoteric fashion nowadays because they rightly see the writing is on the wall
>>
>>220208095
They know full well that the audience wants the Doctor to be a hetero-presenting, white, British man, and they're trying their hardest to resist it at every level.
>>
>>220207666
Why would he bring the show back then?

>>220207899
Doctor Who was always a gay show.
>>
>>220208191
It's silly, they already tried the woman and gay black man and nobody liked them lol
>>
>>220206240
Classic Who is kino
>>
>>220206216
Which Doctor has the biggest penis?
>>
>>220208237
Because he projects his own experience of being a gay man onto a low budget science fiction show that aired on television in the 70's and 80's.
He probably hasn't seen the actual show since he was a child. He sure doesn't write anything that resembles it. At best, he remembers the costumes.
>>
>>220208317
He wrote a lot that resembled it.
>>
>>220206216
The Doctor would choose the Blue Button.

>>

True.
>>
>>220206216
Doctor Who and Star Trek are two franchises you have to try screw up. But Paramount and BBC just keep doubling down on the things that drove old fans away. "Sci-fi was always progressive: doesn't mean we want to watch a majority LGBTQ+ cast navigate relationship drama in a show about aliens. I'll check out the reboot, but I'm going in with rock bottom expectations.

>Doctor Who was always a gay show.
Yeah, gay people loved this scene back in the 1960s
>>
>>220208327
Literally when? He basically misinterprets every returning character or alien race.
>the Daleks have to be Terminatoresque killing machines, as opposed to being sinister and slightly pathetic
>the Cybermen have to clanky 1950's robots with catchphases, as opposed to being warped human beings
>the Timelords are a great race who existed in the before-times (Ie: they're the Kryptonians), as opposed to being a very old race who have become petty and bureaucratic (like the British upper class)
>the Master is manic and totally le crazy, as opposed to being cold and calculating
>The Sontarans are a Klingonesque warrior race, with their own war cry, as opposed to coldblooded cloned soldiers
>The Doctor is kind of like Jesus or Batman in space, as opposed to a guy wandering around, stumbling into adventures by accident

You may like some of this stuff, but it doesn't resemble the original show, if you actually sit down and watch any of it.
>>
All they have to do is cast a decent actor and write some good scripts but it will be too much for them
>>
>>220208539
Got anything with a lower frame rate?

>>

Scifi always being progressive proves that it's not progressivism that's the problem. The new shows are just shit
>>
>>220208237
>Doctor Who was always a gay show.
As with Star Trek, whatever social commentary there was in the original run was done in moderation, not taking over everything else, even in JNT years with him being gay as hell in person. RTD Who reboot had the underlying gay agenda since it's inception, but at least it was played mostly for laughs with Jack Harkness etc. for his first run as a showrunner. Moffatt somewhat toned it down, but then it became constant overbearing woke preaching with Chinball and RTD coming back managed to make it even worse.
>>
>>220208701
Progressivism in the 60's was literally "technology is going to make us all happier, and we should try to be nice to each other".
Now it's "we need to eradicate all traces of "whiteness", and make it illegal to have a penis"

It's clear to everyone but the self-avowed progressives, what exactly it was that changed here.

Pussy literally killed Troughton, if the rumour is true that he died while having sex with an overweight black fan he met at a convention in his hotel room.
>>
I like the episode where Ryan's deadbeat dad gets possessed by a Dalek.
>>
>>220208518
>Sci-fi was always progressive
By repeating their talking points you're only helping the cultural vandals. They have the presence and reach/influence in the entertainment world. You don't
>>
>>220209017
Third episode in was the Rosa Parks one where every white southerner is cartoonishly racist
>>
>>220209223
it was progressive in the sense that it generally supported society "progressing" in the technocratic sense.
There are things to be said about even that. That dorky Isaac Asimov view of society where "experts with degrees" are the rightful kings of the world. But that was pretty integral to early or at least mid-20th century sci-fi.
That spiteful, revenge of the nerds attitude, where regular people are looked on with suspicion, as if they were barbarians coming to tear down the entire project. That's the Mule in the Foundation series. A man who drives terror into the hearts of the nerds, because he's acting outside of their plans.
>>
>>220209477
>A man who drives terror into the hearts of the nerds, because he's acting outside of their plans.
Reminds me when the Navy Seals beat Silicon Valley because they and their robots couldn't think outside the box like the former could.
>>
>>220209632
It proves nerds are losers forever. They'll never beat the jocks in any facet of life. Getting a high paying tech job that's now being supplanted by AI and their nagging wives regularly cheating on them pushes the point home.
>>
>>220209477
I get what you mean(t). It just doesn't matter. When social media analysts and other corpos pick up on people's "sci-fi was always progressive" and translate it into hiring for their next creative project they will land on an academic intersectional feminist type. It's shooting yourself in the foot for the sake of being theoretically accurate
>>
Can I watch this show for free anywhere? I've only seen the first reboot season with Eccleston, and then I think I got sidetracked, and never went back to it. I assume I'm good as long as I bail after Capaldi, and even that was starting to get sketchy (I've seen the "History is a whitewash" snippet on here).
