What's their most batshit insane take?

>>220207118
Hating Blade Runner probably
>>
>>220207118
Conan killing Thulsa is racist because JEJ was black. Although, I guess, this was just Roger.

Ebert spasing out over Blue Velvet
>>

ebert still gave the thumbs up though and 3.5 stars
>>
>>220207153
That whole Conan review was tone dead garbage. They clearly went in wanting to dislike the movie just because of what it is.
>>
To quote another critic, "Even people who liked Home Alone 3 didn't think Ebert would like Home Alone 3!"
>>
They detested my jew boy Sandler way way to much
>>
>>220207134
The theatrical cut of Blade Runner is genuinely pretty bad. The ADR Harrison Ford did for the narration voiceovers sounds like he's on quaaludes, it almost feels like deliberate sabotage.

>Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 3 out of 4 stars and said that he found it to be "fresh, very funny, and better than the first two."[12] Ebert also praised the film in his review on the December 13, 1997, episode of Siskel and Ebert, giving it a thumbs up. His colleague Gene Siskel gave the film a thumbs down and strongly disagreed with Ebert's positive assessment of the film, leading to a heated argument.[13] At one point, Siskel questioned whether Ebert was "okay", with Ebert responding that he was "better than you were the day that you liked Starship Troopers", referring to Siskel's positive review of that film a month earlier.[13]
Unbelievably based. I always liked home alone 3

>>
>>220207153
Ebert was off base on race issues a lot. He liked "Good Burger" and wouldn't back down that it was a fine movie for children. It's one thing to champion diversity, it's another to turn a blind eye to quality when there is diversity, and Ebert did this sometimes.

ford sucks his scenes are boring Hauer & Vangelis & cinematography saves the film
>>
>>220207118
Their politics and world view. Invalidates every review they ever did.
>>
>>220207153
Yeah I remember them it to Nazi propaganda.
>>
Daily reminder Ebert gave Pleasantville 4 Stars out of 4. A perfect score.
In fact he gave an insane amount of 4 star ratings to forgettable movies each year.
>>
>>220210187
You’re already over the edge if you’re thinking about celebrities at all.
>>
>>220207134
Ebert gave a thumbs up to the directors cut and gave the final cut four stars.
>>
>>220210288
By far his biggest weakness. I can't think of how many horrible takes he had because muh racism. I think maybe because he liked black women.
>>
>>220210288
Good Burger is an okay flick tho.

>I do think it is fair to say that Roger Ebert destroyed film criticism. Because of the wide and far reach of television, he became an example of what a film critic does for too many people. And what he did simply was not criticism. It was simply blather. And it was a kind of purposefully dishonest enthusiasm for product, not real criticism at all...I think he does NOT have the training. I think he simply had the position. I think he does NOT have the training. I'VE got the training. And frankly, I don't care how that sounds, but the fact is, I've got the training. I'm a pedigreed film critic. I've studied it. I know it. And I know many other people who've studied it as well, studied it seriously. Ebert just simply happened to have the job. And he's had the job for a long time. He does not have the foundation. He simply got the job. And if you've ever seen any of his shows, and ever watched his shows on at least a two-week basis, then you surely saw how he would review, let's say, eight movies a week and every week liked probably six of them. And that is just simply inherently dishonest. That's what's called being a shill. And it's a tragic thing that that became the example of what a film critic does for too many people. Often he wasn't practicing criticism at all. Often he would point out gaffes or mistakes in continuity. That's not criticism. That's really a pea-brained kind of fan gibberish.

>Peter Beaupre, Alice Ribbons, Burton Jernigan, and Earl Unger are four internationally wanted criminals working for a Hong Kong-based terrorist organization linked to North Korea. In Silicon Valley, California, they steal a $10 million missile-cloaking microchip and hide it inside a radio-controlled car to get the chip past security at San Francisco International Airport. However, a passenger named Mrs. Hess inadvertently takes the criminals' bag containing the car, mistaking it for her identical bag. The criminals arrive in Chicago and systematically search every house in Hess' suburban neighborhood to find the chip.
Crazy, I thought I'd never heard of this but now I remember the exact line the bad guy lady uses at the end:
"I left my heart in San Francisco."

I must have gotten molested during this or something. I think I saw it multiple times but completely blocked it out.

I also notice this with both of then. In their top 10 movies of the year episodes, most of those movies are now forgotten.

What has race to do with Conan? He is killing a cult leader who is enslaving all sort of people.
Tulsa could have been of any other race, would have not changed a thing.

That north was bad to the point of having zero redeeming qualities at all. North is a good kids movie fuck you. Maybe reiner should have written some perverted rape movie too and criticize them for not getting it because it's.. le satire!

some time ago I did a little binge of watching their like top-10 of the years over many years. it was interesting to see just because there were some movies i've never heard anyone in my entire life mention and someone had a fairly well documented playlist on YT.

but it was clear to me that these guys even back in the day were a complete leftover from an earlier time...if you were young and you gave a shit what any of them had to say, even if it was sometimes perfectly salient, you were probably a bit of a loser.

the same way you are incalculably gigantic homo right now if you give a fuck what any modern film critics have to say about anything.
>>

he hated lynch in general except mulholland drive
