Never heard of this movie until I saw the Criterion Collection’s video about it on youtube. Bought it and loved it.What do you guys thinks?
Never heard of it. What did you love about it.
Really gritty take on a wuxia movie. Fight scenes are very chaotic (almost disorienting admittedly). I like the main character especially his struggle after he loses his arm. kino training montage in the middle. I did find the ending a bit abrupt but it went with the themes of the movie.
>>220207669I downloaded and thought it was alright. Pretty to look at but it is too convoluted for such a simple film. It's a remake, or "re-imagining" of pic related btw.
>>220209797They both take the "MC's master's cunt daughter makes him lose an arm" backstory from the novel Return of the Condor Heroes. I never thought of The Blade as a One-Armed Swordsman remake.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM8MW7ffZTw
Added it to the list cheers
Tsui Hark's best movie.
>>220209797I don’t know if I would call it in convoluted baring a remarkable bit of plot convenience in the middle with the martial arts manual conveniently hidden in the walls of the shack. I would say its very simple if anything.
>>220209797I don’t know if I would call it convoluted. If anything it was very simple barring the extreme plot convenience of the martial arts manual conveniently hidden in the walls of the shack.
