There's this videographer who used to be semi-famous in certain circles about 10-12 years ago, named Kendy Ty.
He used to post shorts on vimeo (before the site became ass) but they wouldn't always stay there for very long due to storage requirements and other shit. One day he posted a really cool short that was an action thriller of some people in a car park, guns involved, I think the villain was wearing a gold mask. Felt very Drive inspired. Might've also been a music video.
But then he took it down like a week later and I've never been able to find it since.

'Uncle Tom's Fairy Tales' (1969)
By Penelope Spheeris and staring Richard Pryor, it's unknown exactly what the movie was about or if a copy still exists.
>While it's unclear what the film was about, it is believed that it followed a group of Black Panthers who kidnap a wealthy white man and put him on trial for all the racial crimes in American history.
>According to Pryor's autobiography, the film was stolen from his house and held for ransom. Pryor paid it. Some time later, the print was stolen again and was screened at an art-house theater in Los Angeles. Pryor bought it back from the theater.

at this point, entire websites. whatever you think of their culture/userbase, Tumblr wiped a lot of OC that had nipples, Vimeo purged short films from filmmakers, etc.

even basic image hosting services go down all the time. Imgbb, ImageShack, Gfycat... Flickr recently took away full-resolution photographs for free users, and its search is fucked at the moment.

maybe it's not as cultural as a classic film or the Library of Alexandria, but we're losing quality internet content all the time. god bless Archiveteam.

Performance of a song from the musical Gypsy.
Don't remember if what I am about to relate applies to the original stage musical or the movie version (Natalie Wood).
The song was to be titled You'll Never Get Away From Me.
The refrain was simple and infectuous
>Oh No you'll NEVER get away
>NEVER get away
>Never GET away
>Never get AWAY
>You'll never get away
The song is sung at a rapid tempo, and each phrase of the lyric has the singer(s) put an emphasis on a different word of the lyric.

I heard this song as a child watching the televised Ed Sullivan Show, (2 or 3 years before all hell would break loose with The Beatles).
Ed explained that the song we were about to hear would never again be presented in any media for performance or broadcast, but would be sung here, tonight, only one time, to qualify for the legal protection of copyright (as it stood then).
This once in a lifetime stipulation immediately caught my attention, and I watched and listened intently as a duo of singers from the show sang it.
Then that was it. On with the next act of Russian Opera singers and clean club comedians.
Yet the song earwormed itself into my conscience and every once in a while I would think a few bars of it from some local prompt.

Cut to 2 or 3 years ago, listening to Gilbert Gottfried's podcast about Old Hollywood, with Frank Santopadre, and startled to hear them play 7 or 8 seconds of this song as background to an interview with one of their old time actors/writers/directors.
And that's it, like the flash of a every 100 years comet, it was gone.
I sent an e-mail to Frank at the podcast address, but never got any reply from him.
The show Gypsy still stands as one of the Great American Musicals, and still gilds my memory of all this.

An ex-gf also sent me hardcore lewds I wouldn't mind having. Recovered a couple of others she sent to an old email account, but not as good as those.
I had some polaroids another ex let me take when she was trying very hard to get back with me. Never scanned them, so they're in a Florida landfill somewhere. They weren't particularly sexy, but still having the would be nice.

How is that lost media? I listened to it. The guy really deserves this gruesome death for forcing his girlfriend, who is afraid of bears, to camp with him in bear territory without any weapons or means of defense. He even feebly told her to hit the bear with a pan, instead of running away and saving herself. What a shame. She trusted him and thought he knew what he was doing, but he was just a hippie, who thought all animals were wholesome chungus angels.

>but bears normally don-
Bear normally DO attack other male bears in their territory, if they want to take it over and take the female bears for himself. If you spend so much time with bears, that you are accepted as a bear and smell like a bear, then yes, you will get treated as a rival bear in this case. At least fucking defend yourself, if not for yourself, you suicidal altruistic hippie, then at least your girl!

>Saved from the Titanic is a 1912 American silent short film starring Dorothy Gibson, an American film actress who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Premiering in the United States just 31 days after the event, it was the earliest dramatization of the tragedy.

>Gibson had been one of 28 people aboard the first lifeboat to be launched from Titanic and was rescued about five and a half hours after leaving the ship. On returning to New York City, she co-wrote the script and played a fictionalized version of herself.

>To add to the film's authenticity, Gibson wore the same clothes as on the night of the disaster. It is Gibson's final film, as she reportedly suffered a mental breakdown after completing it. Gibson was plainly still traumatized – a reporter from the Motion Picture News described her as having "the appearance of one whose nerves had been greatly shocked" – and she was said to have burst into tears during filming.

>Around 1,500 people were still aboard Titanic when she sank, throwing them into freezing water where they soon died of hypothermia. As they struggled in the water, Gibson heard what she described as a "terrible cry that rang out from people who were thrown into the sea and others who were afraid for their loved ones."[3] The sinking deeply affected her; according to Sloper, she became "quite hysterical and kept repeating over and over so that people near us could hear her, 'I'll never ride in my little grey car again.'"

>A year later, while driving Brulatour's sports car in New York, Dorothy struck and killed a pedestrian.

>A Nazi sympathizer and alleged intelligence operative. Living in Italy, Gibson was believed to be a Nazi sympathizer and worked for or with the Nazis, though the extent of her involvement as a spy remains unproven.

>Living in France, in 1946, Dorothy died of a stroke in her apartment at the Hôtel Ritz Paris at the age of 56. Her mother outlived her by 15 years and, as she grew older, grew increasingly vocal in her criticism of the Allies and in her pro-Nazi statements

>Dorothy Gibson's only surviving film is the adventure-comedy A Lucky Holdup [it] (1912).

Holy kino and what a cohencidence that all her movies are lost

Yes.
>>

Why?
>>

I want to believe beyond reasons that it will be the case.
Either the internet will have become so closed controlled and censored that that something like 4chan won't be allowed to exist, or in the best case scenario, worldwide discussion will be free enough that a place like 4chan won't feel "necessary.

I assume the reality is that it's held by the government in a museum or archive and you have to sign up for a scheduled visit to access and view it, like most libraries, universities, and museums require for items held off display. But anon read some clickbait article that interpreted "you can't just waltz in off the street and get anything you want, you need to make an appointment" as "IT'S SUPER SECRET AND YOU NEED A BLACKBELT TOP SECRET SECURITY PASS AND THE CANOOK GEMERALD SEAL OF OTTOWA TO BE ALLOWED IN" because that sounds more interesting
when I was 14 I wrote a report on giant squids for school and on a lark I called the big nature museum in the city down south and asked if they had one and they said yes and let me schedule a visit with a marine biologist to go look at it (dead, in a big fucking cooler, in a walk in cooler full of other specimens) and he mentioned they had loads of shit in the basement that never went on display but anyone can schedule a visit if they know what they're looking for and a staff member is willing to fit it into their schedule to supervise
I got to go see a bunch of covered wagons at the state capital that they keep in a warehouse because none of the state parks want to display them, and the skeleton of a mildly famous stage coach bandit too. It's amazing what you can see if you just ask the right people politely.

More generally, it would be a website I believe called Xibalba, which had in-depth critiques on modern Trek (90's Trek for you newfags) and the discourse within the fandom at the time, as well as a thorough critique of Esperanto, amongst other things. It was like The Agony Booth, except less smug.

>The "heart attack gun," officially referenced as a nondiscernible microbionoculator, was a specialized assassination tool developed under the CIA's MKNAOMI program (Military.com, 2024). Its primary function was the silent delivery of toxins to mimic natural causes of death, specifically myocardial infarction
>The device was a modified Colt M1911 pistol fitted with a telescopic sight and a specialized barrel for launching non-ballistic projectiles

In October 2023 i went camping with a buddy in the North Georgia Mountains. We tuned in to a classic country radio station while driving down a narrow mountain trail, those rural radio stations always play the best old country. It was in the early evening. The announcer was doing a short segment on the history of halloween. He talked about the ancient holiday of samhain, talking for 2-3 minutes in a lower tone about how it wasn't a christian holiday and how
>"the ancient celts would light large bonfires and cover their faces with masks to frighten away spirits... if you need to cover your face this halloween stop by Sephora at your local Kohl's they're having xyz deals this week. Coming up we have..."
The the distortion on the bad signal and way he changed his tone between talking about Samhain and Sephora was really fucking cool. He had a great voice for it. I wish I had a recording. I'll never hear it again.

Old 'lost' films from pre-1920 are rediscovered on a fairly frequent basis and barely anyone gives a shit aside from lost media hobbyists and film historians.
It's insanely arrogant to think that anyone would care about a mediocre film made today just because no one's seen it. If a lost Kubrick film was suddenly discovered, it would get a fair amount of attention - for like a month. And that attention would pale in comparison to the fucking Mandalorian and Beepo.
(The Other Side of the Wind is literally proof of this btw)

Somewhere between 2003-2008 (can't remember when) I was part of these surveys and shit. Sometimes I'd get sent products to test, but one time I was sent a TV pilot.

It had a self deleting VHS or some shit. I should have setup a VCR to record it. I can't exactly remember the name but it was like "13th man" or something. It was a scrubs-like TV show about a basket ball player. This goofy white dude. It was quite funny. From what I remember he had a license plate on his car that said "ILUVBALLS" or at least someone in the show did. He had an internal monologue like Scrubs. I was hoping for it to be made into a show but I guess it didn't get picked up. Never found out anything else about it.

Rachel and the Dragon. Disney "Making of" spoof from around the Princess and the Frog. It was about a new movie featuring the first disney Jewish-American Princess (think Porsha from Sing 2).

There was a scene where they bring JAPs into an animation studio like they did with lions for the lion king, and all the animators are discussing their mannerisms, taking visual notes, etc.

You can still find reference to it online, and it was professionally done so it left plenty of fingerprints, but I assume the Mouse squashed it.

I *think* Alec Baldwin might have been in it. He was team owner or someone in the NBA or some shit. Then years later 30 Rock came out and wondered if they retooled the show into that since his character seems similar to what I remember. If I'm remembering correctly and it was Alec...

It's recently come to light that the lost spider-pit sequence almost certainly wasn't filmed. The models were made and the photos everyone has seen were likely just test shots. The production logs from Willis O'Brien exist and the sequence is absent from them while the rest of stop motion scenes remain as well as scenes that were cut, like the triceratops chasing the sailors right before the scene was supposed to happen. It appears that they decided to cut the scene before filming. There is still the anecdote about Cooper having the scene in a test screening and cutting it out because it was so shocking but that's likely just Cooper creating hype or it might just be a rumor that eventually turned into fact.

The video camera footage allegedly taken by three employees of Urban Moving Systems as they watched 9/11 across the river at Doric Towers. The FBI didn't confiscate a video and/or video camera, only a photo camera that held over 70 images, of which notably only five or so were ever declassified, albeit in censored form, under FOIA. That video, as allegedly witnessed by the Doric video who called 9-1-1 on 9/11 to report the employees celebrating the WTC plane crashes, would likely be enough proof to alter how and who Americans views as being responsible which we could really use rn

The Ronald Reagan sex tape that Larry Flynt purchased for $100k, it was allegedly stolen from him as detailed on Cntrl Alt History's channel.

You understood wrong. The original reels for those shots were stored in a former salt mine in Transylvania (I am serious), but once Paul WS Anderson got to release an unrated DVD version, they found out they weren't properly stored and were too degraded to use.

Delia Derbyshire was the music technician at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop who made the first opening theme for the original Doctor Who TV show.
Technically, the theme was composed by Ron Grainer, but Derbyshire used various electronic sounds to make the composition, and Grainer didn’t even recognize the theme as his own work when completed.
This was all done using reel to reel tapes spliced together.
She did several other themes as well, and soundtrack work.
The Radiophonic Workshop later changed production methods, and she left, but she continued making musical compositions in a home workshop till she died. The work supposedly still exists, and a bit of it has been released, but most of it hasn’t been.

Not "lost media" I want to find, but one time I was watching the Simpsons (after school reruns, 4pm, mustve been 2005 or 2006. Shootout at everyone who watched it on TQS Sherbrooke, le 30), and I saw one of the strangest fucking commercial ever. It was a commercial for a regional home and clothing store chain that ran lots of spots. But that particular one was for lingerie. Teen lingerie. Underaged girls prancing around in panties and bras in a bedroom sleepover, and I clearly remember a golden retriever in that commercials. Even as a 12 year old boy I knew that was fucked up that it aired. I assume it got pulled because I never seen it again.
I never talked about it to anyone, then or now (especially now since it's quasi pedophilic), and sometimes I think I dreamt it cause it was completely insane.

I've read the partial transcripts. A lot of it is just major edgelordism and angst.
I get the impression Eric was more apologetic about how it would impact his family though, Dylan seems a bit more cold. Which would destroy the "psychopath and unwilling follower" narrative, which had nothing to stand on to begin with.
Also there's parts talking about girls at their school who didn't give them the time of day.

They made tapes ahead of time, aside from the ones publicly released.
There's like a few seconds of audio out there and transcripts. Gives more of a glimpse into the mindset and motives.

There was a shockumentary about Africa posted on /pol/ a while back that probably dated from the 70’s or 80’s. It was much more sexually exploitative than the better-known Africa Addio, and featured vignettes about female genital mutilation, emasculation, children catching and eating live field mice, women pleasuring themselves with large wooden dildos, flies swarming a female baby’s vagina, etc. Really some of the most disgusting footage I’ve ever seen on 4chan, but I’ve never seen it reposted since then.

There was also a short documentary purged from YouTube that was just called “Jewish Conspiracy Movie.” It was made in the early 2000’s and went into detail about things like the kosher tax on food, ritual kosher slaughter of livestock, etc. It may have been originally made by or hosted on honestmediatoday.com, but that domain has long been shut down.

The Miami heat gooner gangbang. Anyone could fuck them if the heat won the NBA championship. They did and about 4-5 guys showed up and it was laughably pathetic. They were obese and lankets with zero social skills. They kept delaying the gangbang expecting more guys to show up. Pornstars are so delusional they thought porn tier male actors would show up and rail them. I watched about 10minutes of it live and it was hilarious. I believed they deleted all it off the internet .

Fun fact: the film is dog shit and it's rep only comes from the design of Chaney's character who BTW is a police detective disguised as a groutesque vampire

Mark of the Vampires is slightly more interesting but only because it has Bela Legosi spoofing his Dracula character

All of the freaks were people with actual birth defects, some which delayed their intellectual development, and it is questioned whether they were able to legitimately consent to their usage.

Closer to our own era, there is a song from the Bertolt Brecht/Kurt Weill stage show Happy End. It is called The Bilbao Song. The song was so well received that it became a pop music standard in the 1950s.
They did a performance of the whole show for a Public Television series about Broadway
and Christopher Lloyd played gangster Bill Cracker.
There is a clip on YouTube of Lloyd and the cast singing this song.
But that is the only part of the play performance that was preserved on tape. All the rest was lost for any review or rebroadcast. The tune Bilbao Song went on to become a classic, like Mack the Knife.
After decades on late night TV, Johnny Carson wanted to ease back, and so they began to play repeats of old taped shows one night a week.
They were so well received that Johnny began to think that maybe they could get rid of him and only play the repeats. So, somehow, when everyone was busy, TEN YEARS of old Johnny Carson Tonight Shows tapes were erased and used to record newer programs. There were years where his shows were recorded and preserved, and you can find some of the DVDs on eBay.
One of the mainstays of NPR was the show Prairie Home Companion created and hosted by Garrison Keillor. The radio show was recorded and broadcast for nearly 40 years yet a year or two after it was canceled, CPB quietly announced that all those recordings had been destroyed, and I don't recall, as a heavy NPR listener, any explanation as to why it happened.
