Working on my low budget innawoods script.Someone in the previous /swg/ asked me for a logline and I didn't get to respond. I don't want to give away the full plot, but it's like: three women go on a day hike and get into some unexpected trouble. It's not horror, but it's like a combination of The Descent and Red Dawn.
My condensed thriller that already got studio notes before i even started the writing process lol.t. screenwriter
>>220236539Been stalled the last few days on chapter 2 of my Michigan History story. Still looking for that best opening line which will set the flow for the whole chapter
I had a dream about some idea for a screenplay where two guys fight while being on top and at the bottom of the mountain. Like in some kind of competition to get somewhere first, but from two different starting points. Like as if one was Stallone and the other is some other action star. Anyhow, in my dream it was a perfect idea, maybe I forgot some details or something, but it seemed like a perfect idea for an action movie.
>>220237519I'm assuming you're being paid to write it?So you gotta do what they want?>>220237603Write down your ideas. You might come back to them.My process has been to make a new folder, create a blank script file, and then a text file with some notes on the idea. I have 13 folders right now, though only a few of them I've actually worked on.
>>220237738Its spec script, they're not paying. I just had logline and outline ready; decided to pitch. They said they like it but need this and that to consider it.
>>220237868Oh, hmm...Did they want LGBT stuff or something?
>>220237890No, just either side or main role for a 30-year-old actress.
>>220238029That mean there's potentially a name attached? A good sign, no?
>>220238029That’s basically them saying “we’ve got someone in mind.” Could be soft packaging, could just be “hey can you make this castable.”If they’re asking for a 30-ish female role that’s got meat on it, that’s not a bad note desu. Way better than “can you make it four-quadrant and set it in space.” Just punch up an existing character or reframe one of the leads. Give her agency, a couple reversals, a showcase scene. Something an agent can send as a highlight reel.If there’s even a whiff of a name attachment you’re ahead of 99% of /tv/ “aspiring screenwriters” who are still worldbuilding their lore bible. Take the note and run with it.
>AI banned from screenwriting for the oscarskek, the bubble is popping...
I wrote a horror script about a satanic cult in Hollywood. Nobody has the balls to produce this lol, but it’s scary and would make a fuckton of money.
>>220238298Yes, I know the person. Daytime TV- face.>>220239369Exactly. But I've been a writer for about 7 years now, mostly writing shit im interested in (Cowboys, Ninjas, horror, Cthulhu, submarines, etc.), so feeling kinda good to be close on my second sale after an option.>>220239806Give us the logline.
>>220239920>Give us the logline.A burned-out LA detective on the trail of his missing wife meets a young flame with ominous connections to the city's decadent underworld.Been pitching it as Inherent Vice meets Rosemary’s Baby.
Had an idea for an interesting spy character, specifically his/her "cover" job, but no ideas for a plot yet...
I'm writing a fantasy/Sci-fi/Horror screenplay, taking my time.
