It's obvious on the first viewing but the second time really shows that their egos made them stupid, and it's amazing that they weren't caught sooner.

But I'll definitely agree with you that Jessie is a low point, it becomes very clear that the scriptwriters never had an overarching plan for his character past season 1. Definitely one of the biggest weaknesses of the story, which is a shame because I quite like Pinkman.
