was it really that good?

If you were a teenager when it came out, yes

We watched Mad Men instead
>>

yeah
>>
>>220241869
Literally the only tv show I could watch through because it actually kept me engaged instead of having episodes of pure filler
>>
>>220241869
no it was stupid
>>
>>220241869
>was it really that good?
unironically, one of the greats like Sopranos

Absolute You Got Me
>>
>>220241869
No, but it was great compared to all the other garbage on TV at the time
>>
Babby's first prestige television (with extra commercial breaks and cliffhangers)
>>
>>220241869
Consider that every modern "must see" show gets the same 10 out of 10 perfect review fellatio and you'll realize it really wasn't that good and its all carried by hype just like the rest of them.

you guys are just trolling right, because I dont understand how anyone could actually think this.

Is the most mid show ever made so no
>>
>>220241869
It's only good for 1 watch
>>
>>220243942
This

Its a hell of a ride but the show doesn't have much rewatchability. The Sopranos on the other hand can still be kino after multiple watches
>>
>>220242489
it's not that good man, just good, overrated as fuck
>>
Not as good as Pluribus or BCS, but it’s mid. Decent entry level show for a teen

Let me park my car right here so that all of you die. Don't check the trunk. Also thank you for leaving me millions of dollars in cash back then in the desert, helped me take revenge against people who stole my money and kill my friend
>>
>>220244145
my big problem with the final episode is that they showed us what he made in the trunk instead of letting us discover what it all was when he pupped the trunk on the nazis
>>
>>220244145
Why would they check the trunk?
>>
>>220244902
there might be a black in there
>>
>>220241869
It's not as good as True Detective S1, it's not as thoughtfully written as The Sopranos, it can be pure slop at times, but I think it's a great series well worth your time.
>>
For 2013? Yes
>>
It was very good. But it's cool to say it's shit on /tv/
>>
>>220244870
2bh i hated that "off-screen" shit like with the brock poisoning so i'm glad they decided to just show us everything in walt's last plan ever, even though it made for a slightly boring finale experience. i blame that more on the flashforwards than anything though
>>
no and most people on here agree that its a 2nd or 3rd tier drama
>>
I thought it was all very great except for one season, the one with the airplane crash and the teddy bear.
>>
>>220247019
I just wanted to to not be able to figure out what he was doing with the gun in the trunk before the explosive reveal. Show him create something for the trunk but not show the mechanism working. Its a minor gripe. It would have made people go OMG HOLY SHIT!!!! much more.
>>
>>220246888
As opposed to what great TV series of the past decade, exactly? /tv/ contrarians are impossible to understand.

It was boring and predictable Holywood slop just like Sopranos. A waste of time.
>>
>>220241869
No. It was always a goofy live action cartoon for adults.
>two face gus
>i am le one who knocks
>bbbb-bonfire
>machine gun in trunk killing nazis
>magnets bitch
>any scene with le 4d chessmaster gus
>it's not le meth
>the two assassin brothers

What did you think of 'the fly'?
>>
>>220247534
In retrospect, how something so fucking retarded as this could have been heralded as the peak of television
>>
>>220247083
Grilled, Peekaboo, Better Call Saul, 4 Days Out and the final three episodes are some of the best in the series
>>

a very controversial episode but I thought it was alright
>>
The last season could have been better and Cranton's performance is overblown
>>

loved it yeah, had its flaws but was entertaining through and through
>>

This one moment ruined the credibility of the whole thing.

if you are smart and can see that it's not just about catching a fly and you really hear what Walt is saying at the end when he's babbling on and about to pass out it's actually sort of an important episode and quite moving tbhf
>>
>>220253405
>Cranton's performance is overblown
I agree.
Every scene of his was literally the same - tilt his head sideways, open his mouth a little and squint.
>>
It was but it's almost like they didn't expect it to do well it was over the moment you got into it
>>
>>220241869
On first watch it's 10/10
Second watch it's 8/10. Second time I watched it, I realized just how horribly written Jesse was, he's hands down the dumbest character in the entirety of television history, and that's not an exaggeration. Real life Jesse would be legally retarded and the courts would not allow him to live without a caretaker. Second viewing also highlights just how fallible Walt and Gus are. It's obvious on the first viewing but the second time really shows that their egos made them stupid, and it's amazing that they weren't caught sooner.
>>
>>220253504
How? It's completely inconsequential. It's just there to give the first time audience a scare that he would've survived, and also to add to his legend. It has no implications on the story at all. Sure, you might think it's a bit cheesy, but it's nothing to get mad about. BB actually has much more fundamental problems than Gus dying like a DC villain.
>>
>>220253937
Picking up on the deranged egomania from Gus and Walt upon rewatch is pretty satisfying, it stops being "cool" and you can see how very pathetic these two men are. But I'll definitely agree with you that Jessie is a low point, it becomes very clear that the scriptwriters never had an overarching plan for his character past season 1. Definitely one of the biggest weaknesses of the story, which is a shame because I quite like Pinkman.
>>
>>220247534
You need a high IQ to watch Breaking Bad. Same with Rick and Morty.
>>
>>220241869
It was pretty dman good. I binged it on dvd, thoughn so I may be biased. Prob needcto rewatch it (been a while). It was funny when I clicked that Mike Ehrmantraut was Nick Nolte's dead partner in 48 Hours.
>>
>>220254682
Sorry,I'm a little durnk.
>>
>>220242488
I can imagine the live watches with no spoilers and weekly release schedules must have been a pretty fun ride but the show relies way too heavily on cheap tv tropes like cliff hangers and constant plot twists to keep the audience hooked and discards the characterization it had in the first two seasons to be much more plot driven. It doesn’t really stand up to repeated viewings and certainly isn’t on par with the best American shows during the ‘prestige tv’ era.

Better Call Saul was much more deliberately paced overall and was a much better show for it.
>>
>>220248791
Even worse is that BCS is often regarded even more highly for just stretching out a side character to a ridiculous degree.
>>
>>220253937
>I realized just how horribly written Jesse was, he's hands down the dumbest character in the entirety of television history,
hes a drug addict highschool dropout, of course hes retarded

>>
should have ended with "i won", season 5 sucked, and they admitted they had no plan with the machinegun in the trunk in the first episode
>>
There needs to be more kino about nobodies that secretly do something big
