Being serious, they planned From out from the start so writing each season is just figuring out character arcs. There's also not too much cgi (and what there is is done low-budget because no one cares) and 90% of locations are repeated so they can film it quite quickly.
Severance was written without any sort of plan. So they had to come up with a whole storyline to justify their lol so random plot. Additionally, they use a lot of cgi and unique locations which adds a lot of time and money to production. And that's both planning the shoot and post-production.

I agree with this sentiment almost 100% of the time. My favorite films often deal in a lot of ambiguity and are more emotional explorations that "conclude" with more than one possible resolution or message to be learned. The problem with From is that the mysteries and their answers are like the only driving force keeping this show alive. It could be more bleak and emotional by reducing to something more minimalist, maybe focus more on the relationships or the characters internally, but does this show really have the actors or writers to pull something like that off? This show doesn't have the depth for ambiguity and that's why every mystery will have to be solved or the entire fanbase will feel deeply let down.

Stories like The Leftovers and Twin Peaks thrive in the ambiguity and non-answers in my opinion, whereas From is presented more like a puzzle with all of its monsters and rules and clues and shit

There is barely a plot. We are in the 4th season, and we have barely advanced beyond where we started. People just die every so often in place of plot. Like seriously, I can't even boil down what has happened in the last 3 seasons in any logical cohesive sequence of events.
People come to town randomly. Characters will explore outside town from time to time to make discoveries that generally don't lead to anything. On one of these excursions Boyd catches worm aids. They manage to kill one of the monsters by giving him worm aids. Then one person found a lighthouse and left to the real world but immediately came back by acciedent. Later the monster they killed came back to life. Two of the characters had visions (or something) that they were in the town before and that the kids were sacrificed while a man in yellow has revealed himself to be an antagonist. Finally Julie can timetravel because her brother explained time travel to her.
There is no continuity or story arcs. It would be frustrating if it wasn't so fun how poorly written, paced, and storyboarded it is.

Say what you will about introducing random BS they did at times, and how maybe the story was being made up along the way on a macro scale, the plots and story of each season in a vacuum were clearly well thought up during pre-production. Sometimes they may leave introduce something small and open ended for a future season without knowing what the resolution is, but the main focus in each season is pretty self contained and complete. Lost spoilers here: Even little things, like when Desmond is introduced at the start of season two, and he asks Locke what one snowman says to another, comes back full circle and is revealed in the season finale along with explaining how and why the character is relevant, which shows they had some planning of the story they wanted to tell over the course of 24 episodes. The whole button storyline was introduced, explored, and resolved in that season too as an example. . Lost seasons were over twice the length of From, you would think they would be bullshitting the story even harder than From does.
