It helped Mark Ruffalo bring hobo shoe string belts into fashion.
>>
Led to more people watching Streamers for entertainment. Hollywood as we know it is on borrowed time and can't win back Zoomers or Gen A so they're just appealing to Boomers, Gen X and Millenials

There's literally more nepo babies in hollywood than ever before in history of hollywood
>>
It’s basically like a doorman’s strike at this point
>>
they threw voice actors under the bus
>>
they were right to strike back in 2008 and that was the time to actually do something, however they failed to get any meaningful provisions from the industry regarding how new media should be handled under the contract and that doomed them to forever playing catch-up. 2023 was literally them striking over the exact same shit 15 years later
>>
the 07-08 strike was a lot more impactful
shows were cut down and many ran half seasons
nbc gave jay leno a prime time show
2023 wasn't that big a deal because covid had already shut down production so much, especially in california
>>220246551
I'd say it's streaming instead of streamers
you can still make a good show for not much money, just cant do it with hollywood unions
netflix didn't care about 2023, they could just do another season of squid game
>>
Not really, but it didn't hurt either.

Everyone in Hollywood thinks everything is mega-fucked right now because productions are way down due to high interest rates, and their lack of actual bargaining power is being exposed.

For 40+ years, everyone in Hollywood was coasting and eating high on the hog because there was just a lot of money sloshing around, and they had strong benefits from having really good union contracts that were mostly respected by the studio executives who didn't play hardball with talent/creatives/production because there really wasn't any legitimate alternative to producing in Hollywood.

The new players like Netflix and Amazon changed the game because they're outsiders and don't give a fuck about the way things have always been done, so they've started to play hardball and squeeze labor and set up alternative production locations.

It destroyed LA and now all the productions are moving out of California, so all these people are out of the job in a very high cost of living city

>so all these people are out of the job in a very high cost of living city
hopefully they move and the cost of living lowers
>>
>Hey gays I'm guy btw not sure if you noticed
Is that the only move she knows?

probably wearing gym shorts. makes it easier to just to just throw his migrant day laborer costume on over top of his own clothing, without needing to fully undress

The 2008 writer's strike and its consequences have been a disaster for entertainment

based Ruffalo. Friend of the working man
>>
>>220246521
>Jeeves, fetch me my poor people clothes
it's funny, of course, because these people have been joyful participants in a ceaseless corporate propaganda war against the white working class for more than half a century, portraying any white person who doesn't want their community and livelihood destroyed by foreign scab labor as a literal, frothing at the mouth demon.

And that fact that social media showed to everyone who Hollywood actors really were (normal, average, oftentimes cringy people) helped, too.
>>
>>220246377
The earl 2000's strike totally derailed ongoing tv shows and movies (weird short season of House, Heros got fucked, etc)
This one didn't even leave a splash in the industry, didn't achieve its goals, and now AI is more common (and popular) than ever!

Yes, it showed how unnecessary a lot of the writers and actors were and gave studios an excuse to trim the fat.
