I will not sacrifice the Enterprise. We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done!
>>220247963Picard tried to self destruct the whole ship out of mild irritation in S3
>>220248017That was Larry
>>220247963Damn that's a based line.
>>220247963so whos fault is it that Picard sounds so out of character here?
>>220247963>We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! Not only is this line out of character, it's strictly inaccurate. Post-Dominion War, the Federation was much more heavily militarized, they had found repeated weaknesses in the Borg and Janeway had shared what they had discovered on Voyager.
>>220251424>>220251480It's not really "out of character", it's been well established that Picard has severe Borg related PTSD that definitely fucks with his judgement, it's come up multiple times before this
>>220247963The lyne will be drone YEAGH!!
>>220251647its incredibly out of character. picard is not an action hero. his dialogue, especially the last sentence, is not consistent with the character we see in TNG. in what world would Jean Luc Picard make someone "pay" for what they done?
>>220247963https://picardartclass.ytmnd.com/
>>220251862Every now and then he got to be an action man. Q-Pid, that episode that's Die Hard on the Enterprise, etc. So giving them a movie with action moments was fine (they just over-did it by doing it with MULTIPLE movies). Plus he was clearly stressed out over the situation. You would be too in his shoes.
>>220247963THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN HEAH!
>>220251480Not strictly accurate. While Voyager started a year before this movie at the time the movie takes place Voyager had not encountered the Borg or found a way to communicate with the alpha quadrant yet.
Pretty much all of the TNG movies felt too action heavy and completely tonally out of touch with the show
>>220251952kek
Movie.Picard != Picard
>>220252308damn it's almost like trek movies weren't make for trek fans who already dumped all their disposable income on trek conventions, they were made to open up a new demo that has heard about trek and has plenty of money to buy movie tickets
>>220247963>Let. Them. Die.
Generations was actually a good movie people are just retarded
>>220251862>characters have to do the exact same thing all the time or they’re acting out of character Nah. Even real people do wacky, unexpected things sometimes. A compassionate character eventually running out of patience after watching a fucking evil empire “assimilating entire worlds” is a pretty reasonable departure from his usual attitude.
>>220251952Kek
>>220252418As I've gotten older I certainly do appreciate it a lot more.
>>220252375>it's almost like they were soulless cashgrabs that disrespected the fans and failed at their intended goal of finding the mythical "new audience" like these always docrazy
>>220252308insurrection felt like a feature length episode of the show and it was kind of ass. The problem wasn't the tonal inconsistency it was just lame scripts. First Contact is the least bad of the 4.
>>220253833Saddens me that the TNG movies didn't have "it" like the TOS movies did. And that DS9 didn't get a few movies of its own
>>220253833I think by the late 90s the nature of the industry had changed. People fondly remember Voyage Home, but could they have made something like that in the late 90s and have it be as successful? Kind of interesting too because they didn't need to rely on action and a big bad villain to create something that still felt elevated and worthy of a movie.
How can people enjoy OldTrek films when there aint any superweapon plot to latch into?
E-E > E-D "the fat one"
>>220247963damn, is this the new ad for Restore Britain?
>>220254455E fans confirmed to have 0 sense of aesthetics
>>220251647He didn’t have PTSD in the show lmao they just gave it to him in this shitty movie
>>220247963Did Islam come to the enterprise?
I will not sacrifice Ukraine. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire former Soviet republics and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done!
