Star Wars is so fucking garbage that even Pokemon has surpassed it now. It's a dying franchise, the only thing still propping it up is nostalgia for the older movies. Just look at how the Maul cartoon is the only thing fans are still excited about.
For all the shit Lucas got he still managed to keep the IP alive and relevant for almost 40 years after its first movie. The moment the mouse got a hold of it they ran it so far into the ground that just 3 years after the Force Awakens people had so much Star Wars fatigue that it completely left pop culture.
