>Season 2 episode 9 “The Deal”>conclusion is that Elaine says they can’t be friends anymore unless they start dating again>they do>treated like it never happened in subsequent episodes and never brought up againWas there ever any meta explanation for this? It always puzzled me.
>>220259312bad writing. they wrote themselves into a corner and had to just forget it to restore the status quo
>>220259312It's just Seinfeld i.e. a badly written show that only retards enjoy
>>220259312>>220259368>>220259394You're not being ironic you're just faggots.
>>220259312>>220259394Stuff like this happens irl though. It's realistic.
>>220259589you're the biggest fag, because you like seinfeld
>>220259623Yeah, that's why I watch Seinfeld... Because of the realism lmao
>>220259312That episode was the last one produced for that season, and the show wasn't very popular yet, so they didn't even know if they would be back. Then they got renewed for another season and probably just said "fuck it".
It was them skittering on the idea of Seinfeld being more like Friends
>>220259774Yeah, three years before Friends even existed.
>>220259820Yes
Genuine answer: from what I remember from the DVDs, the studio executives were insistent that Jerry and Elaine become a couple because they thought that's what the audience would want. Then that summer after that episode, they heard from real people that everyone hated it. They liked Seinfeld because it wasn't that kind of show, because it was different, there wasn't the stupid couple dynamic. So the executives and Larry David dropped it immediately and never looked back. Also in the DVDs: Jerry lights cigars with the actual tears of idiots who think it's not a genius television show. It's pretty based.
>>220259312Nah there's like a single line of dialogue where they explain it away like three episodes later. I think Jerry is talking to his mom on the phone and he says that he and Elaine decided to be friends after all.
>>220259640>hasn´t played Trivial Pursuit with a bubble boy
>>220259312They mention it in the episode where Jerry and Elaine sleep over at Jerry's parents in Florida.
>>220259945How do you light something with a liquid?
>>220259312Elaine was a size queen, Jerry couldn't satisfy her
>>220259945>it's not a genius television showIt's not, Mr pseudo intellectual. It's a highly overrated show for people who THINK they're smart and for low IQ contrarians.
>>220261005If anything you’re the 110er here. Retard programming doesn’t click with midwit programming.
>>220261042But I never claimed I was intellectually superior because I watched some crappy tv show, lil Seinfeldtroon
>>220259667Also the producers really wanted them to bring Jerry and Elaine together because they thought that's what the audience wanted, so Larry wrote it as last episode of the season despite being strongly against it.Then they screened the episodes out of order anyway and after they were renewed the producers didn't care anymore and Larry and Jerry pretended that it never happened.
>>220261144>Then they screened the episodes out of order anyway and after they were renewed the producers didn't care anymore and Larry and Jerry pretended that it never happened.from season 3 on every episode has a minor reference to the previous because of this
>>220261094Has anyone ever done that? Outside of an obvious joke?
>>220259312They tried the relationship angle and then realised it didn't work or make sense for Seinfeld as a show and just pretended like it never happened. It was the correct decision. Also Elaine a cute.
>>220261319>I don’t like mean-spirited content! It is jewish! That’s why I spend my time on 4channel.Avi
>>220261042NTA, but I am very smart, believe it or not. The show sucks lol
>>220261365I’m smarter than that and I say it doesn’t
>>220261319I’m a blue eyed nord and Seinfeld is funny and relatable. New York jews back them were unironically ahead of the curve and their lives became just modern living in general.
>>220261319why are you even in this thread rajesh? you weren't born when the show was airing, you haven't watched more than a 30 second clip of it on youtube and your whole knowledge of the show is from some shitpost from a /pol/troon who also probably didn't watch it and only knows that the creator is jewish
>>220261665>if you don't like this "smart" show about jew yorkers kvetching over random shit you're le INDIANpoltroons aren't sending their best. Sad!
>>220259312The meta explanation happens in season 4 when George and Jerry “pitch” the Jerry sitcom to the studioThe head of the studio wants Jerry’s character to date Elaine character >jerry : we don’t want to do that kind of show>nbc boss : how about we don’t do the show at all?>jerry : it’s a good idea !
>>220261869SeinCels…our response ? (Without sounding angry)
>>220261869>n-no u!brown confirmed
>>220262265*kvetching intensifies*
>>220261907I don’t really understand what people like >>220261869 actually watch on tv and whenever I ask them what they watch they completely ignore me. Regardless random kvetching about pointless shit is literally what they’re doing in this thread, on this site in general
What is everyones favourite Seinfeld episode?
>>220262473I like The Note.
>>220262473I like "The Maestro" because of George and the security guard with the chair. Another great one is when George tries to prove he has black friends and at the very end the black waiter comes up and tells him "Suger Ray can eat here anytime"
>>220262614>>220262530Seinfeld would be more appropriately titled Constanza
>>220259394Its actually well written by sitcom standards. Only trumped by arrested development level
>>220259820I dont mean literally like they were thinking friends I mean they were considering making it a will they won't they romantic sitcom . If you weren't dense that would have been obvious
>>220262304kek seething
>>220259312I don't remember that being the problem at all. I remember them bitching about not having sex in too long and then they decide to try being fwb but it winds up being too much for them so they drop the idea and just stick to friends.
>>220259312>>treated like it never happened in subsequent episodes and never brought up againThey did talk about it.It was brought up multiple times in season 2 and 3.
>>220259312that fucking jew, fucked elaine 100 more times after the breakup, but when george and kramer wanted a go, that jew wouldn't stop seething, fucking jew fag, i know others are jews too, but he's a bigger jew not letting george hit that,i am upset, george is getting upset
>>220262473It's really hard for me to pin down a favorite episode. There are too many good ones
>>220262473the better question is which seinfeld episodes do i dislike, because they're all so good(the answer is the backwards india episode and the one where jerry takes care of the dog for that guy on the plane)
>>220262473the comeback
>>220263591I kinda like that dog one. That backwards one is truly awful.
>>220263591>>220263608the betrayal is fucking kino what are you talking about
>>220263634Maybe I'll give it another watch, is Kramer even in it?
>>220259312I miss when tv shows were episodic. I hate how every single show is basically just a 10hr movie now. I miss when shows just restarted the next week and each season had like 30 episodes
>>220263634Seriously, George doing the "FUNNY GUY!" and "REPERATIONS!" is enough to make it great.>>220263705He's trying to find out why his pal FDR wants him to drop dead
>>220259312the sitcom always sits in a universe where the slate is wiped clean and the universe is reset at the end of an episode and begun anew at the start of the next
>>220263705>is Kramer even in it?yes
>>220263705The literal only episode Kramer isn't in is the one whre Elaine and Jerry go visit his parents
>>220263854>>220263739I'll give it another watch. Most of the 8-9 season I don't remember. I remember George faking that injury. That was funny. Kramer getting a job is good too
>>220263899nope. he's also not in the chinese restaurant episode.
>>220263899That episode is another one of my favorites just for Elaine being high at the end.
>>220263899Fuck, that was George. Kramer is missing on that one and the chinese restaurant one
>>220262907I see. I have a nasty hangover, so guess I'm a little dense today.
>>220263608The Dog is one of few episodes I almost always skip. The Busboy is another one. I probably watch them 1 out of 5 times just to see if they're as bad as I remember and yeah, they are.
>>220263913yeah I remembered immediately after hitting Send lol>>220263926Honestly that one's near the bottom for me due to their absence, it fucks up the dynamics
>>220263981The dog, the betrayal, the busboy, and the Puerto Rican day are all skippers in my book.
>>220259312They actually do often hint at them still having feelings for each other. In the last episode when they thought they were going to die, Elaine was about to confess that she loves him, probably.
>>220259312Its about how friends with benefits doesn't work you dummy. They dated, had sex and had broken up before. They wanted to see if they could bang and keep the casual friendship which doesn't work because you naturally pair bond.
>>220263981Oh I like the busboy one. They let his fucking cat out of the apartment haha.>>220264036That Puerto Rican one is funny just for Kramer stomping on the flag. Aren't the fags in it too?
>>220261391She either has a huge head or a tiny body. Is that why she kept up the 80s style so long.
>>220263460>that fucking jew, fucked elaine 100 more times after the breakup, but when george and kramer wanted a go, that jew wouldn't stop seething, fucking jew fag, i know others are jews too, but he's a bigger jew not letting george hit that,>i am upset, george is getting upsethe doesn't know about the bro code
>>220264036>>220264085People actually hate The Puerto Rican Day? I thought it was only banned because of the flag burning, but the episode itself has lots of funny moments. I love it when all the alter egos meet in the apartment.
>>220264507I think people dislike seasons 8 and 9 in general. There are some highlights but it's kinda boring.
>>220264544They handled Larry's leave quite well imo, still very good seasons
>>220265499I'd disagree especially with season 7 being so good. It was fun watching the end of season with my girlfriend a few years back "Wait so he just kills her and nothing happens?" Just a big smile on my face "Yup isn't that hilarious."
>>220259312>and never brought up againThey bring it up in The Pen S3 E3. They both go down to Florida and Jerry tells his parents that they aren't dating any more. I think the implication is that they were dating again during the end of season 2 and the start of season 3.
>>220259667>>220265747So I guess as it was written they're only really dating in S3 E1 and S3 E2. But because its aired out of order its implied they're dating in S2 E10-12.There's nothing in those episodes that makes it seem like they couldn't be dating. Neither Jerry or Elaine have any other romantic interests in any of those episodes.
>>220264544It's funny because most of the episodes people reference like Summer of George, The Comeback, Yada Yada, Little Kicks... etc all come from the last two seasons. They're admittedly less grounded, but still a ton of laughs. Kruger is a perfect Steinbrenner replacement and it's not far off some of the ideas of the shows peak. If anything, Season 1 and 2 are too grounded in reality with Jerry and Larry trying too hard to make a sitcom strictly for Woody Allen.
>>220264544I think season 8 is really good; but 9 is the point where it starts to feel like they're reaching and the characters start turning into flanderized parodies of themselves, Pic related. 9 still isn't terrible, its funny even if if it is reaching a little; but I do think they picked the right time to go out on top.
>>220265873Those are all season 8. Season 8 is great even without Larry. Season 9 is still solid; but 8 was still peak while 9 was starting to run out of steam.
>>220265968Ha is that the car dealership ep? That one is really funny.
>>220266047>I told you dad, if you’re going to sit out here you’ve got to stay quiet>you make your father sit out here all day?>he likes it!
>>220266047It is funny. George is acting like an over the top parody of himself; but it is funny. That's kind of my point about season 9, its not bad. I really like the Dealership episode. But it is getting to a point where the characters are starting to go nuts for laughs.
>>220260865Maybe they cry gasoline?
>>220264210Your perception of normal female proportions has been skewed by obesity.
>>220266189Yes forgot that was season 9. I'm probably wrong it's been a while since I went through all of Seinfeld.
>>220266012Ah, but yeah, people like shitting on the quality of them but it really wasn't that different. Season 9 might be less grounded in reality, but Larry came back for the finale and not only was it a terrible episode but damn-near clown shoes shit.
>>220264036nah Busboy is a great one, The Dog sucks eggs though
whats the deal with seinfeld lore
>>220267492Nothing. It's a sitcom. It can literally change every episode depending on the plot. Who gives a shit it's a show for laughs.
>>220263736I miss annual 25 episode per season shows. Prestige TV ruined TV. Not sure if Sopranos or BrBa is responsible.
>>220266591He managed to execute the same idea much better for the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale with a few tweaks that make it better. Its much less of a clip show than the Seinfeld finale was and in the end Larry gets off on a technicality and the public is outraged.I think in theory the finale is a good idea. Its a callback to everything they did through the series and it acts as sort of a thesis on the show itself namely as an indictment of how narcissistic the main characters are. The big problem with it was that it just wasn't that funny. The concept was good; but it needed more jokes.
>>220259312They probably started an open thing where they'd casually bang whenever they happened to not be dating other people.
>>220259945>They liked Seinfeld because it wasn't that kind of show, because it was different, there wasn't the stupid couple dynamicThe amount of sitcoms and shows I’ve dropped because of this shit. I just want to have a laugh.
>>220268297Not in the 90s. That was weirdo orgy guy stuff. That was kind of the whole point of "The Deal" that in theory they could just have casual sex without a relationship; but in practice neither of them could deal with it and they ended up needing to have a relationship/
>>220259312seinfeld is just jewish cultural subversion. Why would you take any of its' plot points seriously except to realize the entire show is to undermine normal male-female relations and promote degeneracy, and feminism?
>>220268383Kill yourself
>>220268447I'm sorry I can't, that's too jewish
>>220268462Fine bitch about Jews and do nothing about it like every other goy retard.
>>220268513Okay I will, thanks for the advise shekelstein
Elaine get gangbang
>>220268610Anytime retard
>>220268610excuse me "advice", I've had a bit too much to drink today. God is good I can even use the letter 'o' when naming Him
>>220259312>Seinfeld isn't a genius sitcom
>>220268693physiognomy checks out
>>220262473The Gum should be in everybody's top 5
>>220262473I'm gonna go with The Rye. Its like a heist movie except its a bunch of idiots trying to sneak a marble rye into an apartment.
the same zoomers who claim Seinfeld isn’t that smart are missing out on all the “Wayne Knight is in so many iconic scenes…” references. https://youtu.be/NFuBaRiKwD4Newman is central to every joke.
>>220262972yeah OP is a virgin and didn't get that they were just trying to fuck each other without it being awkward, which is fucking retarded on its own. People can fuck and still be good friends with each other, but I digress. They weren't trying to date, they only wanted to bone, but that wouldn't fit into the plot of them navigating the weirdness modern dating has to offer
>>220270512>>220262972Are you two bots? Is it Asperger’s? Simply watch the show.>Kramer: Oh yeah. So, ah, what're you guys gonna do today?>Elaine: Ah, this. And that.>Jerry: And the other.>Kramer: Boy, I really liked the two of you much better when you weren't a couple. (He exits)>Credits roll
>>220259312Ever noticed how in the early seasons this show used have serious emotional moments? It's so good at it too. Kramer's speech at the end of the LA episode gets me.
>>220271092There are a few of them later on too. They're far and few between but they work.
>>220271092I can’t recall a single one
>>220262473Too many to pick from, if I had to pick a couple favs:>The Doorman>The Jimmy>The Seven>The Calzone>The Chicken Roaster>The NapYes I like the later seasons more
>>220262473The Boyfriend, primarily for the Keith Hernandez spitting incident aka JFK parody with Kramer and Newman but also loved the odd throwaway lines about dating a giant woman. Woman at the end of the episode was sadly only 5'11", a Debicki type absolutely tower over Jason Alexander.
>>220271392that's not a serious emotional moment
>>220264544I think most people don’t like the entire show, especially younger audiences. No need to single out season 8 and 9. You would have to be a little retarded or brown to find these cringey Jews and their poor writing with a laugh track funny. Boomers are truly the worst gen.
>>220271392>>220273147I find it pretty relatable.https://youtu.be/uKt900f2Bug

>>220274982>No one likes this super popular showYea you're retarded
>>220259312Yes, they never wanted to have Jerry and Elaine date but producers kept pushing it and they weren't solidified as a hit so they tried it.
>>220261329Elaine *is* cute.

>>220262473It's honestly hard to pick a favorite episode, I just love George's constant scheming all tying together into one endless string of lies.I'm fond of where he gets to dip his bald head in oil and run it all over the tall lady's body though.
>>220262614The scene in the maestro where Estelle walks in on Kramer, frank, and maestro in their underwear is still fuckin hilarious
>>220262880Early curb, 30 Rock, arrested (s1-3) and always sunny (s2-6) took the seinfeld formula and ran with it

>>220275428my bad... one more time: JDL
>>220277548But it is JLD.Are you thinking of JBLs?
>>220259312Larry thought it was the finale so he felt he should wrap it up. He was so mortified when they got renewed for season 3 he literally cried
The one where George has a shot with Marissa Tomei, because I know for a fact this is humanly possible, no matter whether you are short and fat, that if you have an opportunity, you can get a celebrity or someone hot into bed, it just takes a willingness to expend the effort. Note the amount of effort required is tremendous, but it IS possible. No one should ever think "I could never get a celebrity into bed" as a Platonic truth, it's just a matter of if you're willing to put in the work.

>>220280478I like the Kramer "wife" jokes from the Courtney Cox one. >My wife...has an inner ear infection. My favorite episode is probably the one where Kramer tells Jerry that marriage is a manmade prison. You get up in the morning, she's there. You go to bed at night, she's there. No watching TV while you eat. You talk about your day. Losers who don't get that Seinfeld was nuking everything sane and decent and laughing while doing it are just missing the funniest shit ever.

>>220259312No one on planet Earth used to care about continuity and caught random new episodes plus a mix of syndicated episodes. Almost everyone that e.g. watched Star Trek in the '90s saw about 60% of the episodes in random order, and probably never saw entire seasons because their local affiliates didn't buy those syndication packages.
