Just started watching 30 Rock again and I have to wonder: did none of them have a carer afterwards? Except Fey and Baldwin of course.

I saw Cerie/Katrina Bowden by chance a few weeks ago as a saloon hooker in a netflix western, but I had to look her up because I could not place her face.
If you count Dr. Spaceman, I know Parnell did Archer and Rick and Morty, he has a distinctive voice and I remember seeing him sometimes in small comedy roles.
Kenneth/McBrayer I vaguely remember had a couple of minor roles over the years.

But Jenna, Tracy, the writers, I cannot remember anything else I ever saw them in. Is that just a blindspot I have or was this show just career poison?

Jenna was a main character on Unbreakable and Tracy just made a new show with Radcliffe. Why even make a thread like this without a 15 second google search?
>>
>>220260982
Weren't all the people playing the writers really writers?
>>
>>220261086
because a google search will tell me little about impact. They all have dozens of credits on imdb, but that means nothing. I never watched Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt, but I heard about it, so that is something at least. I heard nothing about Reggie Dinkins, any good?
I am sorry for the thread I killed, it must have been dear to you.
>>
>>220260982
That's basically how all TV shows go.
>>
>>220260982
It's a crime Jane Krakowski isn't cast in more shit, but the comedy landscape is almost unrecognizable from the heyday of 30 Rock
>>
>>220260982
Jack McBrayer gets a shit ton of work

I mean, just by numbers it kinda has to, but I would expect that in a show that was quite successful the people would at least go on to have regular appearances on other tv shows or small roles in movies, you know "oh it's that guy" moments. I don't expect them all to become stars.
>>
>>220261241
He’s been showing up in background roles for decades. Kennith was the only role where he was allowed to be fully unhinged though.
>>
the years had already taken their toll on Cerie by the time the series ended
she became one of those "attractive ladies" that isn't appealing at all

Baldwin, Krakowski, and maybe McBrayer and Tracy were the only standout performances of the main cast, good writing is the only thing that saved the rest.
>>
>>220261239
she's a theater gal
>>
>>220260982
Tracy was just in Swapped which is one of the best family films I've seen in a while
>>
>>220261268
same thing happened with always sunny
look at charlie and mac, they're nobodies outside the show
>>
>>220261086
I saw a clip of this show, the one about Chicago Fire. Recognized the joke writing as Tina/Robert's, looked it up, and was confirmed right. I've seen 30 Rock too many times.
The show is pretty funny and actually makes sense as a mockumentary since it's about making a documentary. Too many other shows lean into the format but it's not actually a documentary.
>>
>>220261759
try dennis and mac, charlie has done big films
>>
>>220260982
the cast was mostly no names before the show other than fey and baldwin
jenna was only added after nbc felt rachel dracht wasn't good looking enough
they did a good job getting stars as partners, matt damon and james marsden with liz and salma hayek and julianne moore for jack

>Tracy
30 rock ended in 2013
tracy got hit by a walmart truck in a fatal accident in 2014, nearly died
walmart paid him off big time, he still does comedy but it's for blacks

>>220261268
>but I would expect that in a show that was quite successful
30 rock wasn't successful, the ratings were bad and if lorne didn't back it nbc would have cancelled it
>>

Despite looking like an actor, he seemed to be more a behind the camera guy. I know he did everything on Sunny, he made Mythic Quest and apart from that I only know him from owning a football club with Ryan Gosling. So, I assume he made great money.

>>
Reggie Dinkins is fun if you're into 30 Rock/Unbreakable style of humor
Reggie's young trophy girlfriend steals the show IMO, but there's way too much Craig Roberston who plays Reggie's rival in the second half of the season
>>
>>220261859
It had relatively low general ratings but it ranked much higher among rich viewers.

Unbreakable grated on me the further it went on. The landlady and gay roommate needed to die
>>
>>220260982
i remember seeing that scene on tv when it aired and i was... awestrucked for a sec. i wonder if it was a you had to be there type of thing, even if she is obviously cute and sexy to look at. i wonder if pornhub was a thing back then, maybe porn streaming was less prevalent?
>>
>>220261529
>>220262159
I gotta give it to the poncho and straight up panties combo.
also: panty shot when she is lounging on the couch. very unprofessional, editor should have caught that.
>>
>>220262317
The gay roommate was the only reason to watch the show.
>>220262214
I hate Craig Robinson. I don't understand how he has a career. He has no charisma, comedic ability, or looks.
>>
>>220262346
mid to late 2000s, streaming was obviously less prevalent then, just on data speeds alone. but it was there if you were a young man at that point.
But that is not the point. The point is that it is/was always a highlight when a "proper" actress on tv or a movie does something sexy or riské. because these worlds are not supposed to meet.
>>
>>220262353
Racism has no place on 4chan.
>>
>>220262384
>I hate Craig Robinson. I don't understand how he has a career. He has no charisma, comedic ability, or looks.
everything he has he stole from Patrice O'Neal when they were warehouse workers in The Office
Patrice was genuinely funny, but too proud and stubborn to play Hollywood social games
Craig is a fucking hack, but kisses white/jew ass well and became the token silly fat black guy
>>
I assumed cerie just married a rich guy and dropped out of the industry

I think that was mostly because they knew it would be basically impossible to see on the TVs at the time, let alone on a vhs recording if you wanted to check that moment again.

30 rock wasn't a hit with general audiences though, it's a show that appeals to critics and comedy nerds. I like it too, but comedy about comedy isn't something most people want to watch. So those that like it like it a lot, but most will get bored with it. So it's no wonder that most of the cast didn't go off into stardom.

ok she made such a strong impression to me because, yea shock value of sexy on safe tv was rare (still? idk dont watch) , the ep was in season 1 that is 2007 , same year pornhub was made. streaming was still rare, i don't remember if i was using it as porn on tap or was still downloading it and checking it once at nite... but at any rate the shock was still new, i was not still chemically altered by porn on tap, even more than i was already.

Fun fact: Cerie is based on Allison Williams, who was the SNL writer's room assistant during Fey's tenure. The "wear a bra" scene is also an exaggerated version of a real conversation they had.

i saw some blind item years ago that said baldwin had her blacklisted because of his wife. it was something about seo traffic to her fitness site being diluted because they were both making exercise videos trying to capitalize on the shows success.

conversely, two of the writers' careers took off after 30 Rock. both Glover and Burress, that I know of
>>
>>220263680
30 Rock and P&R only got seven seasons because they were awards darlings. The average normie tuned out after The Office. I can’t believe there was a time where The Office, 30 Rock, Community, and Parks were all on the same programming block.
>>
I dunno if the entire series is worth a rewatch now, I remember the seasons where Liz kept dating those celebrities and the ending where Kenneth becomes CEO of NBC interviewing a black Liz Lemon character
