You know, after nearly 30 years of calling myself a Star Wars fan, I've realised that I don't actually like Star Wars. I like the Sith. And... that's it. I retain an attachment because little old me saw Darth Vader and thought a cool knight in black with a laser sword and magic powers was the coolest thing ever. I then got into the comics and videogames and they were fun to read and play because Space Wizard Knights is a great concept. But then you get into the actual movies and characters, and it's all so... boring. The OT is like a watered down Dune crossed with Flash Gordon. The characters are all basic cliches. Which is fine for a fairy tale, but this isn't a story with an ending, it's a constantly milked cow with multimedia installments that goes on and on and on. It's not LotR with a definitive ending, and it's not Marvel or DC where there's a sliding timeline and characters are always revamped and reworked according to the ages. The simple fact is that the setting's interesting because of the Space Wizard Knight hook. But it's never allowed to be the cool thing it is, because the moral of the worldbuilding prevents it. Lucas wanted Luke to be a virgin. His Jedis are called Knights but dress like Monks. Sith are not nuanced as they're just edgelords, but Jedi are so boring by comparison that at least the cool factor carries the former. The problem is that the Force is basically a parasite so you'll always have Jedi falling for one reason or another, which makes their philosophy useless. It's a stupid cycle. The aesthetics are a mix of every single Space Opera and Space Pulp serial of the time which creates a hodgepodge.I don't know, to me SW is so swallow that essentially only the cool bits survive. Playing KotOR or Force Unleashed was cool. Being a cool space wizard with a sword works. It's fun. For me Sith carry the franchise.
>>220261873yeah there are a lot of star wars fans who grew up to be Nazis who identify with the bad guys, and call nuwars "woke" because it doesn't validate their worldview
>>220261891>Family Guy reaction imageKill yourself
my favourite part of SW was always the opening of Episode IV, where it's just two droids walking around in the desert, and getting harassed by gypsies.

>>220261873I get it. I feel the same way about the Klingons and Romulans in Star Trek. The real ones not the skirt-wearing effeminate gay poly abominations of Nu-Trek.
>>220261873I just like the Empire and its aesthetics, the space wizard stuff bored me
I realised this when I played swtor during covid and discovered the Sith class stories are both miles better than the Jedi ones.
>>220261908I don’t think I’ve seen many ww2 movies besides Indiana jones. I think this is true for a lot of other retards so they’ve forgotten that their dead grandparents would be spinning in their graves because they have become sympathetic to fascists because of space wars, and nip anime.
>>220262912Compared to the alternative...
>>220261873>Guys I'm actually evil I realized this after 20 years of looking at people being killed on 4chan.

>>220262327I like them too but mostly because of the various Glup Shittos of the Empire.Sometimes liking the bad guys is just that, liking the bad guys, nothing deeper than that. It's the same with Fallout. I like the Enclave because they are comically evil and violent guys in kickass power armor which is a kino aesthetic, but thinking they are right in some way is peak autism. But I guess people who shit on you for liking a good, old-fashioned baddie are even weirder. I'm not a chud for liking the bad guys, I just appreciate some delicious musctache twirling.
