I liked it fine though it was pretty heavy handed and masturbatory but whatever, it's a movie by a black guy about black people that's sort of unavoidable. What I did find funny is that Jack O'Connell gave by far the best performance in the movie but nobody cared including his castmates for obvious reasons.

Was he wanting to collect his soul or something? The movie was okay but definitely not what everybody praises it to be. The music scene and the head vampire whitey was the best part of the movie.

It's possible the praise might be deserved, but it's basically impossible to tell whether it's genuine or performative. Most likely (haven't seen it myself) it's a good movie buoyed into "omg best movie evar" territory by both blacks who treat any decent black movie as the best thing since sliced bread and whites propelled by white guilt
