These don't translate to good acting.

I haven't seen a Jason Statham film since 2007
He's basically Steven Seagal tier
>>
>>220264709
He's found his niche and he does it well. Can't that be enough?
>>
>>220264709
Kek. It's bastardized Judo for people who can't take being thrown or being hit but want to larp as actual fighters.
>>
>>220264709
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the gayest sport in existence, you're right he could start to down and suck a guy off in front of cameras for his next flick. Just snap his dick in half with his fivehead bj. He should put the BJ in the BJJ

Chinese girls is a niche he fills well.

BJJ is a real martial art unlike aikido.

>>220264821
>t. have never done BJJ
I think it has flaws but as far as utility of combat sports goes I'd only put MMA or Muay Thai above it, with boxing in the same tier.
>>
>>220264794
Statham makes 10-20 million per movie. Seagal can only dream of such paydays.
>>
In his biggest ever role I don't think he shot even one guy
>>
>>220265006
he doesn't do martial arts either
>>
>>220264910
> utility of combat
friend, in order to make it useful you'll have to take the opponent to the ground... even people who practice it know how ridiculous it sounds in real life.

With BJJ? You're joking, right?
>>
>>220264794
His movies still make money
He probably has one of the best careers of any action movie star in history
>>
>>220265070
>even people who practice it know how ridiculous it sounds in real life.
Wrestling works in real life.
>>
All that martial arts shit is useless against a gun or a knife
>>
>>220264910
Every BJJ martial arts larper is dead when:
>They face anyone with a weapon, especially a knife because they have no weapons defenses and have 1000% belief bjj is infallible and won't just run for if.
>They face anyone that has friends. As nobody who does bjj has friends they are incapable of understanding other people can attack you when you are on the ground
>The face anyone who can actually throw strikes when they haven't spent ten times longer training then the person they're facing.
>The actually manage to take people to the ground without realizeling in most countries that's legally considered to be ending a fight and will actually end up in jail for choking anyone or breaking anything.
>>
>>220265134
> Wrestling works in real life.
against a knife?
against a gun?
or even a guy knowing boxing, or kickboxing?
I doubt that.
>>
Jason Statham unironically has the dream career for any actor who isn't a self-important oscarbegging fag
He's so typecast and profitable they create movies out of thin air purely for him to play the lead
His career is assured and he can keep making movies and earning bank as long as he likes
Fair play to him, I actually liked him in Lock Stock back in the day, he ended up doing the best of all of those guys
>>
>>220265070
I took bjj for 10 years, lost in the first fight I came across in real life, friend recommended aikifdo to me, 1 month later I had another fight, beat him without even touching him.
dont waste your time like I did.

If you have the time, watch the whole tournament. The MMA guy won (very well deserved) but the BJJ guy was doing really well up until he had to retire early due to a foot injury from outside the tourney.
>>
I wonder if he can even remember any specific movie with clarity or if it's just full autopilot for him at this point.
>>
>>220265191
Do wrestlers even get hit for real? At least boxing teaches you how to get punched. Do wrestlers strike each other?
>>
>>220266471
lmao he plays the exact same character
EVERY
SINGLE
MOVIE
It's the Black Ops/Ex Marine/Paramilitary/[Insert Title] peaceful loner guy that gets dragged back into action by the good deeds that he's got to do.
>>
>>220266521
You are correct, they don't know how to guard or handle a punch.
>>
>>220266337
> meme videos
granted.

> your video
it appears to me that BJJ is useless against a knife fight as most of the time you slice an artery and bleed to death. So, again, are YOU going to fight against someone who holds a knife with your BJJ skills? Are you going to lie down like he did and start kicking on rough concrete, where you can't turn your torso as easily as on a training mat? I hope not, look at the comments, just run away.

What if he has a gun?
> lie down
> get shot
>>
He's only a purple belt
>>
>>220264910
Aikido is real, Seagal-sama can fight 100 ninjas at a time
>>
>>220264910
>BJJ is a real martial art unlike aikido.
Aikdo is way more useful than BJJ in terms of transferable knowledge and principles. BJJ is basically a sport that you have to train at in order for it to accomplish anything, but Aikido's beginner level classes benefit anybody who takes them pretty much immediately.
>>
>>220265742
There's filling a niche and then there's becoming the niche. He's living the action star's dream.

who would win in a fight
>>
>>220266530
Yeah that's what I mean. I have nothing against the guy and I'd take the roles too. But at a certain point he has to just not even give a shit about the minutiae.
>Ok Jason your name is Carl Burger you're an ex-commando and you work at a hardware store now and-
>yep got it answer to Carl or Mr. Burger on set alright let's go

Like it has to be his attitude at this point. There's no way he bothers with specifics or even bothers to read anything.
>>
>>220266786
>it appears to me that BJJ is useless against a knife fight
BJJ guy did second best out of the 6 fighters.
Point is, if you think that any martial art makes you immune to fights against multiple opponents and/or opponents with weapons you are deluded. At the same time BJJ does better than most martial arts.
>>
>>220267008
I wonder if they even bother writing dialogue for him or if his script is just overviews of the choreography.
>>
>>220265071
>understands his range
>understands his audience
>doesn't take himself too seriously
recipe for success.
>>
>>220267044
He probably adlibs half his lines. There's so little distinction he's just playing the same person.
>>220265071
I'll always give that to Arnold if for no reason than he would do a lot of different things with his limited acting ability. He'd be a bad guy, a good guy, an anti-hero, a joke, a goofball, etc. He's also just Arnold.
>>
>>220267044
It's probably just stuff like [sarcastic remark] and [reassuring statement] and occasionally [intimidating threat] and just let him wing it.
>>
>>220267088
Arnold actually played a lot of different types of characters. He was Conan the Barbarian, he was a killer robot from the future, he was a special forces commando... a couple of times, and he was a divorced father trying to do right by his kid and get him that fucking Turbo Man doll.
>>
>>220267112
he's auto-complete for action films.
drives a car in half of them.
>>
>>220267166
also played a meta version of his own characters in last action hero.
i think retards are thrown off since they hear his accent and just repeat "he can't act". he does pretty well with a good director and takes the roles seriously.
>>
Statham is my Arnie for Gen X.
I was born in '93 and came of age watching the Transporter movies.
Then as a teenager, the Crank movies and going back to the early Guy Ritchie stuff.
Since then I've seen almost all of them.
Like an anon previously said, he's living the dream of the action star, and can continue doing those basic movies until his body cannot do them anymore.
Also he has a banging wife, pumped 2 kids out of her, and spends his life travelling to cool places when he's not on a movie shoot.
>>
>rewatch Transporter
>realize it's live-action looney tunes
i really shouldn't rewatch dad movies
>>

And yet his best and most famous role is one where he walks around the entire film with his hands in his pockets.
