I have watched the first 2 and now I'm on to 3, the one that triggered my OCD and ruined my life at the very beginning.Reviews:1. An engaging and well made film, it's more thriller/mystery then outright splatter horror. I wonder what the series would have looked like if it followed this direction, especially with the original bittersweet ending that would have tied the film up a lot better.2. While there are scenes that surpass the first movie, it's still a lesser movie. The lead characters are boring as fuck and so are the fodder characters with one or two exceptions, It killed of the superior leads in the first movie which was bad enough, but to do it in a shitty way was worse. The tone is a lot more lighthearted and comedic and hasn't reached the cruel nihilism the series is known for yet (Even though 2 kid characters get obliterated).
So I'm started 3, one thing I appreciate is that it's scary again.
Three is kinda shitty with it's slow-burn buildups for EVERY. SINGLE. DEATH. instead of just the first, but it still manages to be better than a couple of the later films.
>>220285312I also have OCD which has made my life very debilitating. I am highly curious how this X-Files spec script turned teen horror series triggers your OCD.
>>220286777NTA but I understand his point of view, when you're younger there's an intense effort to map out the world and possibilities. Realistic TV and movies present themselves as possible for shock value, often that's the whole gag like with these movies, and that reorients a child's subconscious understanding of the world. I also spent my early life preparing for extreme violence because that's the only thing adults will pay to see.
So I just watched 3 and I have a lot of thoughts on it First thing I want to say is that this is the film that influenced the general public'e opinion on these films. The nasty-ness and cruelty these film are known for is started here. The 'everybody die at the end' thing is here (even though it's left up in the air if they survived). The Gore is turned up too 11. (And a lot of it is shit cgi). And the whole thing feels like a cartoon. Where as the other film's worlds reacted to the events with a new talk in the 2 one for instance. Nobody else in this one fucking cares, the kids don't even seem to have any parents that aren't extras. There are a few films where I can think of where the sequel is the one that cemented the public perception of it even though the original is different.Rambo, Friday the 13th.I think FD is another one of those franchises. As for the film itself, it's ok. After the terrifying opening, there's nothing much to care about regarding these characters going in circles. I've seen a compilation of the death scenes from all these movies and despite knowing who dies and how in the first two, I found them entertaining still. Not this one. Alot of the writing was shit and out of touch as well. Everyone loves SpongeBob ffs. Also that 9/11 reference was fucked up and I don't think I would ever ask a filmmaker for an apology, but this is one exception. Comparing a horrific tragedy that only happened 5 years earlier to the gruesome universe these movies take place in is pretty sickening. I wonder how the relatives of the victims feel about this. Some good points though, the photo angle was great and MEW's acting was also great.I think it does hurt the franchise that it decided to follow this formula going forward, everything is bleak and predictable.
Onto the 4th film which I hear is the worst.
>>220288204A few other things I forgot to mention about the 3rd one.Why the fuck is there no Tony Todd, I mentioned that following the formula of 3 really hurt the series in the long run, but this is another reason. The lack of a recurring character. Since this series doesn't have an iconic killer, it should have had a recurring protagonist, like Ash, Ripley or Sydney Campbell from their movies. Alex and Clear were perfect for it.If it wanted to commit to having a new set of characters each time. Then Tony Todd should have been the anchor. Also the first film suggested the presence of the afterlife this one doesn't.
Forgot to link the previous thread >>220235362>>220257924
>>220286777I'll answer your question in more detail later, but all I'll say is the film's all deal with small actions resulting in horrific deaths. Just like how washing your hands , according to OCD, keeps you safe.
I just started 4, the moody and dreary openings have been replaced by a shitty 3d New Line Cinema logo and butt-rock. I can tell already this has been Michael Bay'd
>>220286777They are a fucking retard who realized they can experience emotion while watching a movie, and repeating what they have heard online is the only way they can describe it
>>220288446>Why the fuck is there no Tony ToddI think his appearance is the voice over the loud speaker at the carnival. I do think it's fucked he doesn't appear in person though.
Well that was Shit
>>220290640Dumb as fuck,Shitty pacingRetarded ending.Bad cgi blood. No good characters. The only good thing I can say was the opening credits were kinda cool. This is the first one where everyone dies as well. (3 is up in the air)What was the deal with the homeless black guy? Where was Tony Todd?
Now watch 5 and Bloodlines. They were better, especially bloodlines
>>220290842I'll probably watch 5 tonight and Bloodlines tomorrow.
>>220286777Why Final Destination?well its how the premise is of the movies are presented. To me these are needlessly cruel, nihalistic and mean spirited movies way more than other horror films. It depicts a hellish universe that exists only to torture and torment its denizens.I wouldn't have a problem if the incidents depicted in the film are as a result of an un-natural malevolent element, sort of like Damian from the Omen films or the titular 'Monkey' from that film. But the fact that the films suggests that its events are 'a part of nature' is what my mind completely rejects, even if it is a thrasy splatter series. The Trigger is anything to do with this franchise: hearing its name, watching clips or screenshots, even thinking about it or how the logistics of that universe works. The fear is that I will land in the FD universe or our universe will operate like its.The ritual can be: spitting, washing hands, trying to 'force' the thoughts out of my head, and reciting a chant. The chant changes from time to time but for the moment I have to say word for word:"neither you nor I live in any 6 or 7 FD Universe, neither you nor I belong in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I were born in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I are in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I have ever been in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I will ever be in any 6 or 7 FD universe. The entire FD universe is 100% Scanned, 100% Blood-red wrong, 100% Constant, 0% (My Name), 0% Home, 0% Change. I'll send you back to the same spyro the ratchet and clack, hmh long-tailed argonian, green gargoyles, pokemon, lion king, toy story, batman, spiderman, kung-fu panda, samurai jack, how to train your dragon universe you were born in, were in austrailia, were watching the land before time and were helping (neighbor) across the way, and everything I said will happen trough your mouth will happen when you clap your hands and click your fingers.(clap hands and clicks fingers).
>>220292365personally I believe all autists, OCDs and other mental defectives should be humanely gassed and euthanized.
>>220292458Start with yourself
>>220292365Now that you've opened up to us, you can see how absurd it is. This is really good progress anon
>>220285312Final Destination 1 is a perfect depiction of pre 9/11 America and its airport security system.
>>220292939Thank you
>>220290842Bloodlines is too woke with mixed race main characters.
>>220293077One of the characters mentioned that they'd be stuck watching Stuart Little for hours, that got a laugh out of me.
>>2202930779/11 happened 1 year after. And it was shitty of FD3 to reference that.
Started watching the 5th one, people are saying it's a return to serious but so far it's still got a lot of dumb humor.
I'm liking that there is mystery and investigation again.
I found 5 pretty mediocre but so much better than 4 at least. Plus the ending elevates it in my opinion.
They should make a Final Destination movie in which everyone gets killed by meteors and lightning
>>220285312>Bring laptop on plane with .mp4 of first FD movie >When everyone's seated play the part where the plane explodes and everyone dies>Lift my laptop high in the air on full blast so everyone behind me can see itWhy wouldn't this work?
>>2202853124 is the best one.
>>220292365That chant is bananas my guy
https://www.youtube.com/@everybodyhasabrain/videosThis dude's vids helped me get over my OCD.
It made me sad when Stifler’s head got chopped off
It was fine, not a great movie but the breaths of life really affected what was getting stagnant about these films. The ending was just cruel, but very clever. Both the ending and the new rules really add more questions in a good way.Did Alex and Clear get the premonition because Sam and Molly were there? Did they take their place?Did Carter take Alex's place at the end of FD1?Are the premonitions purposely projected by the grim reaper because it doesn't want them to die? Also Tony Todd's presence is greatly appreciated. Some deaths were terrifying, especially in the build-up. Others like Isaac's were hilarious.Still though, everyone dying at the end might not be my cup of tea.
Tomorrow I'm going to finish it off with Bloodlines, I know everybody does again but I'll see if I like the movie on spite of that.
>>220297201Yeah, I know, but OCD doesn't attack the rational part of your mind, It instead forces the rational part to deal with the irrational part if that makes sense.>>220297290Thanks, I'll give these a watch after.
3 was my favourite. I’d never seen Final Destination and didn’t even know what it was. It just came on TV randomly one night when I was lying in the dark hungover on the couch. It was pretty fun.
>>220285312>based thread on r//tv/didn't know this was allowed
Once Watcher finishes the last Final Destination movie of the marathon, he will be double locked into the Final Destination Universe until he says "neither you nor I live in any 6 or 7 FD Universe, neither you nor I belong in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I were born in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I are in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I have ever been in any 6 or 7 FD universe, neither you nor I will ever be in any 6 or 7 FD universe. The entire statement must be repeated twice to prevent the lock in. Good luck Watcher, you'll slip up some day, you can't cheat Death forever...
