Everything is totally dumbed down and they don’t actually depict in any depth Caesar crossing the Rubicon and the civil war against Pompey. They don’t go into the politics of the former, the biggest drama is around Caesar delaying fighting Pompey because he’s banging Brutus’s mom (not joking). In the latter they don’t actually show the campaign, Caesar being the massive underdog, nearly losing, he just goes “we’ll win because our men are fighting for their lives”. Brutus’s mom put a curse on Caesar which I suspect they’ll use to explain the assassination rather than, you know, exploring the plot in depth.
