one thing i never understood about sol and his ultimate decision. he resists giving rachel to the sphinx for decades through hardship and theologizes it; then, only after he realizes its rachel's voice telling him to give her over to the shrike does he do it.what was the point though? the shrike and future rachel were not in cahoots at that point. what was the actual reason sol had to give her up? and why did rachel end up wanting him to? and no, i will not accept any endymion retcon logic as the reason
