Yes. The first 30 or so minutes makes it the funniest movie that has come out in decades (low bar, I know). After the pool party, the quality takes a nosedive, but it is still good for a couple laffs here and there.I think having been a Weird Al fan at some point in your life greatly enhances the movie, but you could probably still find it funny even without knowing who he is.

It's pretty great completely missed opportunity. It's a solid comedy, but it could have been so much more.

The scene in the college dorm with all his frat bros being super nice and encouraging was a nice flip from the expected trope of "misunderstood genius defies the odds". It was just nice seeing guys being genuinely happy for him.
