Something real cringe about Tony all of a sudden becoming a coke fiend for one episode I can't put my finger on it.
>>
If you're constantly hanging out in clubs surrounded by people doing drugs you're probably gonna give it a go at some point.
>>
David Chase was bashing you over the head to say "Tony bad, Tony bad, Tony bad, stop liking him!"

Instead of having Tony being a morally complex character like at the start of the series, he slowly began to attempt to change Tony to make him outright evil. The drug arc, gambling arc, etc were just attempts at this. Chase did this because he hated his audience and wanted to punish them for liking Tony.

a jew hated that humans are likable? shocking
>>
>>220302534
Probably so they could do an episode where he almost fucks Aidriana.
>>
Why is irredeemable criminal a bad person. We'll never know.

I think the assumption is that Tony used it in his youth

>OMG HE DOES DRUGS AND GAMBLES? TOO FAR, CHASE

course of the entire series

Yeah, people in "the game" who all accept the same rules as him. The Tony of seasons 1-2 was not living a completely debauched lifestyle snorting cocaine, cheating with his nephew's fiancee, gambling away hundreds of thousands, etc. Chase is making a point having him behave way worse and be generally unlikable in later seasons.

Tony is a violent mobster from the very first episode on. People like you, too ignorant to see that they is no moral ambivalence here, are the reason the show became more explicit in condemning the mob.

>>220304558
>oy vey, he threatened one of G-d's Chosen, this is anudda shoah!

Edgy

Tony has done coke more than once during the show. He was partying Atlantic City or Vegas or wherever the fuck. How is that so out of the ordinary?
>>
>>220304719
So like, exactly what anon said? Dumb fucking imbecile.
>>
>>220304719
>a violent mobster from the very first episode on

but also a family man with the same problems and worries of the average person, who has his own moral codes and rules he follows, which is why he was interesting.

> is no moral ambivalence here,

except there is, the writers being retards like you and not accepting that is why they ruined his character and flanderizing him, demanding that everyone hate Tony because "Tony bad".
>>
>>220304862
>it's morally ambivalent because Tony's son is a pussy
I don't think that you're good at thinking. A story being interesting doesn't imply the murderous main character is morally ambivalent. One of the major points of the show is the exact opposite.
>this man is evil
>this is partly the reason why
>you still kinda like him
It isn't complicated, but again, you're fucking retarded.
>>
>>220304947
>one of the major points of the show is the exact opposite
>this man is evil

Imagine watching seasons 1 or 2 and thinking that, you'd have to be legitimately braindead or perhaps a leftoid. No Tony in those seasons isn't remotely evil, and in fact, does a lot to seem like a decent enough person while characters, especially his mother, act far worse. In fact, the series was initially mainly about David Chase writing about a character going through the same problems he was having at the time, going to therapy, dealing with his terrible abusive mother, etc, it was never about Tony being evil. It was far more about David Chase dealing with psychological issues through the character of Tony Soprano. That's why when Nancy Marchand dies, the impetus of the whole show begins to fall apart.
>this is partly the reason why
The show does get into why Tony is the way he is, however it's not about Tony being pure evil.
>>
>>220303484
Shut up Meg

>>220302563
Coke gets such a bad rap. Everyone should try a bump of good unstepped on shit.
>>
>>220305071
>however it's not about Tony being pure evil.
I always hated the out of nowhere sociopath study Melfi was given by that sniveling smug jew shrink. Have had people quote that extensively as being the answer to Tony's character over and over.
>>
>>220305132
I've never snorted anything and never will. Degenerate bullshit.
>>
>Tony was a good nice gentleman until Chase made him evil for no reason
This is what some people genuinely believe. "Tony is nice because he likes animals and his kids" (doesn't give a shit raising them though".
>>
>>220302534
The Sopranos isn't really worth waxing poetic about. It's just "funny wops lol" with some annoying moments in between.
>>
>>220305132
unless you're making it yourself it WILL be cut down to unrecognizable garbage that's barely better than a shot of caffeine-- unless you get fent in it in which case you might actually die.
>>
>>220305208
I know, you haven't done anything and never will.
>>
>>220305416
Confirmed never had a good connect in Orlando. I'm sorry you're a broke ass. Wait, no I'm not.
>>
>>220305132
Coke is expensive and makes you feel real good for like 30 minutes at most. It also makes you immune to alcohol so you also drink inhumane levels of beer and liquor.

The hangovers are unreal as well. Like suicidal bad. I don't want to know how it is at middle age.

how do the words "morally complex" become "good nice gentleman" in your deranged mind?
>>
>>220305208
Fox and the grapes. You have no friends who want to party with you.
>>
>>220305469
I never got bad hangovers from coke like with alcohol or ecstasy. But yeah the price makes it a once in a while treat.
>>
>>220305483
I'm not even a leftist, probably more right wing than you, but keep being retarded.
>>
>>220305421
>snorting bullshit powder you bought from some dirty spics is "doing something"

>>220305487
On the contrary, I had lots of friends into this bullshit and I'm the one who stopped associating with them because I didn't find that lifestyle appealing. But cope how you like, cokehead.
