I don't remember Conquest saying all that cringey nonesense in the comics. And yet, somehow, people say the animated show's changes are an inprovement over the source material. Not every villain needs to be humanized. Also, his monologue more or less implies that Viltrumites are aware that their ways are wrong, which kinda doesn't work. If Viltrumites have doubts about how they carry their empire, Thaddeus wouldn't be the only traitor to Viltrum empire (until Nolan, that is). The comic isn't exactly perfect. Like, at all... but the animated show sucks balls.
