is there a strategical reason for spinning glow sticks like this?

The friction warms up the midichlorians and it boosts your Force Bar's regen speed for 5 seconds.

They are actually having a precognitive duel, neither of them can act without the other countering

Aura . The answer is Aura

because it looks cool. but if I really had to pull a logical explanation out of my ass, it conserves momentum while continuously repositioning your blade until you see an opening you can exploit
>>
>>220326888
sadly in real life fencing there actually is, but this is a movie that's supposed to look cool, so it probably shouldn't have happened to avoid memes like this

There is. Yes.
>>
>>220326888
why is rule of cool completely lost on the modern audience, its a movie. you're watching something with lasers and frogmen, so complaining about logic makes you look dumb
>>
>>220327143
>because it looks cool.
it doesn't
>>
>>220326888
It's a dynamic defense stance
>>
I prefer the clumsy lightsaber duels of the original trilogy and, yes, the first two movies of the sequel trilogy where they act like they're swinging heavy broadswords to the fancy, overly-choreographed fights in the prequels

peak of lightsaber fighting is still luke wailing on vader in return
>>
>>220327658
this nigga gets it
BUT
that exact moment is why I think it is not out of character for Luke to try and kill Ben in the flashback in Last Jedi. Even at the peak of his powers, he is susceptible to his anger getting the best of him
>>
>>220326888
>prequel bad
You lost tranny. RLM lost
>>
>>220327730
nah i disagree, thats rian fundamentally misunderstanding the dynamic going on there. luke loses it because his own father is actively threatening to turn his sister to the dark side. ben had done nothing up until that point, its a total contrivance for luke to be one second away from murdering a defenseless teenager as he slept. i dont give a shit about whatever plot device "visions" he might have had.
>>
>>220326888
I always thought they were feinting each others strikes.
>>
>>220326888
If you actually watched the scene, you would see that there was
>>
Yes. Because both are force sensitive they are actually feeling each other out with micro movements, faints, and predictions
>>
>>220327461
I thought it was cool
>>
>>220328359
Obi is literally precognizant. His combat form is a moving meditation that allows the Force to indicate where the next strike will land.
>>
>>220326888
They are using misdirection and feinting, tryign to find a weakness in each other's stance. But retarded boomers/zoomers could never understand such simple stuff
>>
>>220328611
I thought that was windus shtick
>>
>>220329014
No, Windu's thing is basically just compartmentalizing with the Force. He mirrors the Dark Side in his opponents, but he can stop himself from letting it effect his thinking. I also choose to believe that's mostly bullshit and he's already quietly fallen, which is why he's a cunt.

Obi-Wan and Anakin both know each other's fighting styles and moves. They're trying to attack each other but every time they are nearly able to strike the other one anticipates it and reacts. You can see another example of this when they both try to force push each other at the same time.
>>
>>220326888
You may not like it but this is what peak precognition duelling looks like. if anything lucas should've taken it even further so the retards watching could understand that by having them both do a series of halfway attacks that they flow out of before they'd even threaten the opponent, although knowing how retarded the average human is I imagine even blatant displays of futuresight would go over their heads.

"strategical" isn't a word. Strategic is. Also, the word you're looking for is tactical. Sad how illiterate you zoomers and millenials are.

They are both Jedi masters and can see each other's next move like 5 steps ahead, that they had a moment where they both sort of got "stunlocked" into a series of spins like that because each was predicting each other's moves perfectly and knew there was no opportunity to strike is actually pretty cool.
To be fair you need an IQ of at least 128 to understand this.

AKTSCHUALLY, it’s operational-level.
>>
>>220327191
Somewhat true, but it would never look like this, spinning inside of the opponent’s striking range while standing still
>>
>>220328815
Seriously. We see Goku and Vegeta throw hands faster than the eye can track and it makes sense but HERE people have a hard time getting "it".
>>
>>220327522
The fighting style of the jedi in the prequels symbolically shows how decadent and out of touch the jedi order had become at that point. They spent all their time focusing on overly elaborate flashy lightsaber techniques instead of building their connection to the force- that's how Palpatine was able to steal the republic from them right under their feet.
>>
>>220333041
They're trying to bait the other in to making a hasty attack so they can counter it. It's like how in soccer you have to bait someone in before pulling off a nutmeg on them.

You guys are both based, but for me, it is the last section of the fight in ESB. From the moment Vader leaps out of the door to jump scare Luke and starts swinging for the fences, until Luke’s hand is lopped off.

It’s by far the most aggressive sword play in the series. The Prequel stunts are more acrobatic and impressive, in a Wuxia inspired way but they don’t feel like anyone is trying to cut each other. In Star Wars, Vader and Obi Wan are relying on really basic kendo, playing a game of cat and mouse, as Vader tries not to overcommit and make the same mistake he made before.

In Jedi, Luke and Vader are both holding back until Luke snaps, and it’s an emotionally fuelled rage. But at the end of the Empire fight, Vader has seen enough to be satisfied with Luke’s power, and now he needs to capture him.

Ray Park was much younger, in a much less awkward costume and his Wushu is really, really impressive. But I think that scene of Vader just battering Luke shows that even at that age, Bob Anderson would have killed every other actor in the series in a real sword fight. And Ray is the only one it might be close with. If you gave him young Bob though? It would be over in seconds.
>>
>>220333065
And the ideal place to do that is outside of their striking distance. Just outside. The best time to capitalise on their mistake is as they charge in.
>>
>>220332840
