>“Michael Jackson was a big comic fan and wanted to play Charles Xavier,” producer Ralph Winter recalls. “I said to him, 'Do you know Xavier is an older white guy?' And Michael said, 'Oh, yeah. You know, I can wear makeup.'" With that, Jackson queued up an elaborate presentation complete with the short film GHOSTS, in which the pop star morphed into a 60-something white mayor railing against a well-meaning performer who entertains local children with magic tricks. Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the film, never seriously considered Jackson for the role, which eventually went to Patrick Stewart. As one former executive remembers, "Michael was already in the thick of all his allegations by X-MEN."https://observer.com/2020/07/x-men-anniversary-fox-marvel-superhero-movies-kevin-feige/
I swear every month there's a new article that "Michael Jackson wanted to play X Y Z character". How many times did he try to get major acting roles with no experience? He even wanted to be Willy Wonka.
>Old creep who has questionable relationships with the young people who hang out in his mansionI mean he does kinda fit the part
>>220329397He had a bunch of money. The first story like this that I read was that he was going to buy the rights to Spider-Man and play Spider-Man. And this allegedly happened right around the time that marvel was selling off the movie rights to their characters to avoid bankruptcy.
he was lame for insisting on being an agent instead of an alien in Men in Black
>>220329397I can't believe they didn't let him. I would have made the movie for shits and giggles because you just know it'd be a cult hit.
>>220329397He wanted to be in hollywood so he could have access to more children he could diddle
>>220329461He was an alien.>Zed, what about that position you promised me in Men in Black?>Still working on the alien affirmative action program. I'll keep you posted.Yeah he didn't wear alien makeup but it would've ruined the joke if you didn't recognize him, the joke being that he already looks like an alien. They made a similar joke about Dennis Rodman in the first movie.
>>220329311He also wanted to play the Joker in the 1989 film and at one time speculated about buying Marvel to play SpidermanHe had weird ideas
>>220329612>He had weird ideasThat's for sure
>>220329397The reality is that by the late 90s/2000s Michael wasn't selling anymore and was constantly staving off bankruptcy, having to sell multiple properties, and even personal items like costumes and props at auctions, to stay afloat. He clearly saw that his time in the music industry was over and was trying to switch to films. When that didn't work, he decided to do one big final tour, and even though he worked his ass of preparing for it, to the point it literally killed him, the primary motivator of it was simply to make money he desperately needed. His career, and the money he brought it, grew exponentially after his death, much more than any time he was alive. Ironically, it all went to jew producers and executives who pretty much own all of his catalog even to this day, including most of the profits from that new shitty "biopic" that just came out.
>>220329733Didn't he own most Beatles songs?Hard to believe that didn't pay off.
>>220330003He only owned the publishing rights, which really doesn't get you much money up front compared to owning the master recordings which Sony owned, it was more of a long term investment. Basically owning the publishing rights is like owning the song's composition, but owning the master recording is like owning the actual song. And by the 90s when his money troubles got really bad, he had began selling back a lot of the publishing rights he owned back to Sony. Also the vast majority of the money singers make is from touring, merchandising and brand deals, not from album sales or song streams, so whatever money he was getting from what he owned of the Beatles catalog was nothing compared to the money he was making in his heyday.
>>220329590They tricked him. He wanted to play an agent and in his take he's wearing a black suit like an agent and reading his lines that make no mention of what he is. It was Rip Torn's line that makes him an alien. I wonder if he was mad about it, or maybe he didn't even realize it.
>>220330003>>220330554Anon is talking shit. Jackson went in on a joint publishing venture with Sony in the 90's; Sony kept trying to buy out Jackson's share, and Jackson always said no. His estate eventually sold Jackson's share for $750 million: if he had money troubles, why didn't he sell out of Sony/ATV?>In 2006, Sony gained operational control of Sony/ATV and obtained an option to buy half of Jackson's stake in the company at any time for a fixed price of $250 million. Why didn't he exercise that option? As for the value of music publishing: Sony's music publishing arm is worth billions. Maybe that's not as much as a comparable record label. But bear in mind that the publisher gets paid every time the song is used, whereas the record label gets paid every time the recording is used, so a song like Yesterday which has been widely covered could conceivably net more for the publisher than for the owner of the Beatles's recording of the song - which, by the way, is not Sony, but Universal.

>>220332747>He was trying to muscle in on Hollywood. The Jews were weak at the time due to ScientologyIs there any evidence for this?Did Scientology ever pose a threat to the jews?
>>220332844I guess a piece of circumstantial evidence could be that Battlefield Earth is roughly contemporaneous with X-Men and Spider-Man.IDK if that actually hurt Jews though, or even helped Scientology.
>>220332844No, it's just funnyBut you can't dispute there was a major PR effort against Scientology, that Scientology was recruiting major Hollywood stars, that Scientology was going after psychiatrists (Jewish foot soldiers)It's fun to contemplate
