It's specifically designed to be easy to jump into if you haven't seen the show, Favreu said it's a re-working of some of the season 4 scripts (and a season 4 is still in the works), and if the movie does well, it's supposed to lead to a big Avengers-like movie with Mando, Ahsoka, and other show characters, against Thrawn. So it's just a big budget standalone episode that won't do anything drastic, but might do some light setup for future shit. If you like Season 3 and are willing to shell out $15/ticket for a few padded episodes, then sure, you'll probably enjoy it. Will it be actually good? Probably not.
Book of Boba Fat was the proton torpedo that blew this series to dust. There is no coming back from that.
