Could it work as a Movie or high budget mini series?
who would you cast?
>>
What for? There are plenty of other gay shit you can watch.

rockstar games just rip off movies anyway and they make more money from selling this game than 10 movies ever would
>>
>>220329806
It’s already a movie
>>
>>220329806
No because Rockstar games are already just a mishmash of old 80s/90s films so it's basically just recycled slop at that point. How about an original western you lazy unoriginal fucks?

Zoomers think red dead is better than any western film

It's a movie game. It already has everything you'd get out of a show or movie, but then you also get to shoot people in between episodes. There's nothing to gain by removing that.

the game story is mid for a feature film.
>>
>>220329806
how about a sequel like a decade or so from now where you play as jack in WWI

Arthur may have been a robber who terrorized thousands of innocent people and killed dozens, but he's not a heckin' racist!

>>220329806
It'll earn a lot of money from goyim but the story is dogshit, even for modern standards.
>>
>>220330074
They can just do a whole new story, Red Dead Revolver was a completely separate story from RDR.
>>
>>220329858
sadly this, replayability is the achilles heel of rdr2
>>
The game has very annoying story and morality that is offset by and conflicts with what you can do in the open world. You can target specific NPCs, you can be Jack the Ripper in alleys of Saint Denis, etc. The open world is fun and totally lacks the restrictiveness of the story, which is why I have never completed it.
>>
>>220330904
It's very replayable, I usually end up staying in chapter 2 or 3 for the majority of my replay since I go about doing all the side shit.
>>
>>220331033
I mean sure the sandbox aspect ain't the problem, it's mostly the important segments where you really don't have much of a choice but to follow what the devs want you to do, still fun but predetermined af
>>
>>220331118
Well that's kinda just how some games are, it's not an RPG. People don't take issue because it's exactly what it was marketed as while something like Cyberpunk gets raked over the coals since it marketed itself as an RPG and then turned around to being a set story with no choices meaning anything.
>>
/tv/ tards getting filtered hard by GOATED RDR 2. Most of you chuds probably never even played it. If you did it’s the only game to say nigger with zero fucks.
>>
Low honour is the better Arthur. High honour is overwritten and feels unnatural, I can see the writers behind the lines.
>>
>>220329967
I can accept Arthur being somewhat progressive, at least within the logic of the story. He’s loyal to Dutch, who constantly presents himself as a martyr fighting against the injustices of society. Given that, it makes sense that Arthur would be idealistic and want to help marginalised groups, because his gang is meant to be helping those that need help

It’s also pretty clear by the end that Dutch deliberately surrounds himself with marginalized people like Lenny or the Native Americans because he knows he can manipulate them. He uses their struggles to make them loyal to him above everything else. I'm not saying it's 100% realistic but at least arthur has a reason to be woke for the time period. I will admit the game is pretty hamfisted with it at times, more so in the side content where the writing is less consistent
>>220331118
I'm replaying it at the moment and it is pretty funny how janky the missions can be if you already know what to do. One of the missions in chapter 6 I was running through a factory and I must have been too quick because Dutch's AI freaked out and ran outside the factory into the exact opposite direction until I failed because I 'left dutch behind.' I don't think missions need to be as loose as the overworld necessarily but they need to make it a little less scripted

>People don't take issue
But people do take issue with it. The og rdr1 let you skip dialogue while riding horse and did not have the hyper realism rdr2 has, which ends up taking away from the gameplay. Nothing wrong with linearity, R4 is linear but unlike rdr2 you don't have to either do x a certain way or fail the mission.
>>
>>220329806
Could it work? Yes, definitely. Will it work? No, because the people who make things these days will cram it full of their politics and cast a bunch of niggers and fags and outsource all the effects to some incompetent jeets.
>>
>>220329881
My zoomer coworkers talk about RDR2 like it’s the best piece of fiction ever and i just don’t get it. I’ve restarted the game three times now, but i never get to see the story unfold because the game itself is so fucking slooooooow and boring that i end up giving up after a few hours.
>>
>>220330878
>completely separate
Who is John Marston
>>
>>220332081
Marston's appearance is roughly based off Red, who was the main character of Red Dead Revolver, but that's it. They're completely unrelated and so are their stories.
>>
>>220329806
I don’t get the point of movie video game adaptations.

>Here is a video game but now you can’t interact with it, only watch

If anything we should talk about adapting movies into games instead. Imagine if you could interact with Pulp Fiction and save John Travolta from getting shot or some shit. Or interact with Full Metal Jacket and talk Pyle out of killing himself.
>>

>>220332068
Uncs have no taste. Red dead 1 and 2 is easily better than any film from the past 20 years and honestly better than pretty much any Western film, even the dollars trilogy..
>>
>>220329806
I don't think it would hit as hard.
What makes RDR2 work is who key things
1) most video game writing is garbage and this one isn't, but there's plenty of well written western films out there
2) what makes Arthur's story work so well is how much time you spend inhabiting his character. Would you care as much about some outlaw cowboy who caught TB within the span of a 2 hour movie? Or the rest of the gang? You care about Arthur because you probably spent 100 hours or more playing as him, and to its credit that's one of the rare things that separates game narrative from film, but if you ported it to film do they have enough time to make you give a shit about an aging cowboy who gets sick and dies? We've seen that plenty of times in western films, what makes Arthur's story so special in that medium?
>>
>>220332245
RDR1 was made by uncs and played by uncs, dumbass.

>>220332250
Honestly this is why films are so inferior to games as a medium. I’m not surprised the film industry is getting totally BTFO in sales by games right now.

Movies are like something halfway between a play and a game. Like a middling evolutionary stage between the two.
>>
>>220332269
Every zoomer I know irl who plays vidya (myself included) has put over 100 hours into RDR2 and considers it one of the best games ever made, idk what you’re talking about
>>
>>220332428
Missed the 1 in that sentence huh?
>>
>>220332428
I just realized you said RDR1 ignore me I’m fucking retarded
But also I’m a zoomer and I loved RDR1 as a teenager and I’m sure I’m not the only one
>>
>I'm scared, sister. Scared my purported desire to be a moral person is thematically incongruent with all the evil shit I'll continue to do for the rest of the game.
>>
>>220329881
Zoomers think Red Dead 2* is better than any western. Zoomers did not play RDR1.
>>
>>220332441
Zoomers I know found RDR1 to be too clunky and lacking in features compared to 2, as most of them experience RDR2 first. RDR1 being locked to the 360 and PS3 until very recently didn't help either.
>>
>>220331118
GTAV and RDR2 are the worst Rockstar games ever made. They are the most expensive games they ever made. The are the best selling games they've ever had (even tho the sales numbers are fake because a huge fucking chunk of "sales" were free copies redeemed by third worlders because of PS+, Epic, Gamepass).
>>
>>220332504
The sales numbers are because of GTA Online and being re-released practically every year.
>>
>>220332476
>Zoomers I know found RDR1 to be too clunky and lacking in features compared to 2
That's pretty funny considering I guarantee they all fucking love GTA5 as well and, having played it recently after not playing it since it first came out, holy fuck RDR1 really is just GTA with horses.

While RDR2 is "le cinematic experience" where your character has an insane level of "cinematic" turn delay movement and takes 4 seconds to loot a corpse or even a cabinet.
>>
>lettin' a black feller do yer wife?
>>
>>220332476
I’m a based ‘96 zoomer so RDR1 was my favorite 360 game. I can see how it would be difficult to go back to it after starting with 2 though. I’ll most likely never play it again because I don’t remember any clunkiness and I don’t want to ruin my memories of it as a perfect game
>>
RDR2 is a masterpiece.
>>
>>220332535
Yeah GTAV sold a lot but I'm telling you that a HUGE chunk were free accounts or people buying a $15 edition for the $20 shark card. Basically for years and years the game would be free on different platforms and kids would end up paying for hacks/mod menus. If you played on PC you would remember that after a while it was literally nothing but Brazilians and Chinese online.
