Pattinson is actually very funny in this film. Zendaya being a cute throughout is a bonus. It’s a dark comedy worth watching. For me (I thought she did nothing wrong and personally would have been sympathetic) I think the movie was more about hysterical urban liberal people, and how toxic, catty and hypocritical they can be. Everyone shipped themselves into a frenzy virtue signaling over how terrible even considering a school shooting is. The environment of a contrived and carefully orchestrated performative wedding being showing up for what it is, juxtaposed against the real core of a romantic partnership, knowing and understanding your partner as well as you can.There's also subtext about making sure you really know a person before you marry them, and people being imperfect and having pasts and not always being the person they appear to be now. I think it's important to note that Zendaya's character showed no signs of having any violent murder ideation in her current state.
