let me guess, you need more?
>>
Yeah I need more.
>>
>>220333289
Do you think I could get a 4K movie on that?
>>
>>220333313
you just need to adjust the bitrate so it becomes a powerpoint
>>
>>220333289
How much data fits on a regular 1080p blu ray? I've torrented movies at like 25 gb and they probably still didn't look quite as good as a blu ray
>>
>>220333289
How many AI generated naked pictures of my ex girlfriend do you think I could fit on one of those?
>>
>>220333313
Split into 8 disks, probably. It’s as easy as flipping the Laserdisc, you kids have no idea how good you have it.
>>
>>220333289
Yeah. A lot more. Need video and audio uncompressed. And need that information read at a sufficient rate. High colour depth, high resolution, 3D. Need additional information displaying the workings of what is on screen, textured 3D models of them with suiting lighting. Need the purpose, motivation, intended messages and supposed flukes.

Need to be able to build something onwards with what is there. Randomised. Progressive. Playable in full body VR. Need suggestions for what is missing and suitable material selected by both AI and involved artists. Need complimentary passion projects. Need a theme. In absence of one professionalism incorporating them.

Need the storage unit long life. Thousands of years at least. Including that of the reader.

Conversations and voices in character.

Preferences of people involved.
Actual sex scenes to participate in. Feelings had described and recorded. Amalgamation entity available for quick absorb and auto/semi pilot.

I still keep a stack of these in the cupboard, just in case...

Most of them are already rotted.

What happened to holographic discs? They could've been great.
>>

I'm gonna go burn this thread onto a disc just to prove you wro-

wtf is that? some type of butt-plug?

i loved when i was capable of burning a cd with 20 songs on it. i felt like i accomplished something

Good times, i miss it.

Turns out rapidly rotating a small holographic disc did some Event Horizon shit.
The test families did not fare well.
>>
>>220333289
Yes, retard, these are for music. Not even Dreamcast games fit on this shit.

25, 50, 100GB per layer size. I doubt many movies are on 100GB three layer discs. Also a lot of torrents are just the streaming version so they will always look like shit, it doesn't matter if it's 1080p or 4k, because all stream sites are genuinely shit compared to the disc. Especially 4k discs. Streaming sites usually remove a lot of grain or detail to hit the lower bitrate for bandwidth.

>>220334282
most of them do tho

I've been burning CD-Rs for decades, but I finally bought my first pack of 100GB Blu-Ray discs earlier this year.

Are people really getting nostalgic about writable discs in the same way as cassette tapes? Buying whole stacks just to backup data was a pain.
>>
unironically no. a YIFI 1080p rip will fit on one of those. there was no reason for DVD or blu ray.

Buddy, ain't nobody have the bandwidth to stream native blu-ray quality video. No shit streaming looks worse. Most HD streams are just bitrate starved upscales so it actually plays back smoothly even over wifi.

>Buddy, ain't nobody have the bandwidth to stream native blu-ray quality video
hey congrats on waking up from your coma, can't believe it's been 20 years already.
>>

bluray is at most going at 50mbit, typically closer to 35 and 5 of that is going to be audio.
south korea had 100mbit internet in the early 00s

>I've torrented movies at like 25 gb and they probably still didn't look quite as good as a blu ray
that would be a remux which is taking a 50gb bluray and stripping the junk 'padding' data away, since a bluray is a physical disk that is read by an optical laser, you want the actual data to be as close to the center of the disk as possible so it's read faster than it would be if it were on the outside, so the outside of the disk gets a bunch of data that doesn't have a "read me" string of bits and gets ignored.
a 25gb 1080p bluray is going to be 1:1 the bluray disk quality

>>220333289
Take me back to the good old days when anime fansubs would always either be 175MB or 233MB an episode, so you could fit exactly 4 or 3 episodes to a disc.
